Bistrot d'Orsay reviews
69 Saturday night booking 8pm
We ordered: bouillabaisse entre size, duck liver pate, goats cheese souffle, rib eye steak cooked medium, creme brulee, short black and espresso martini to finish.
Upon arrival we were greeted instantly by staff and shown to our table, despite the fact it was busy. Throughout the whole experience, the staff were very attentive, with our waiter going above and beyond to provide recommendations on other restaurants to visit as well as speaking to the chef to help us find a sake bar to drink at.
The whole vibe of this place is cozy/intimate and feels warm and inviting. The food was great, the steak was cooked perfectly, the wine selection was also great. Overall the food and outstanding wait staff provides for a very comfortable and well spent evening.
I'd read the reviews so took some colleagues here for lunch expecting superior service. Not sure if it was an off day but really disappointed. After ordering, about 20 minutes later we were again asked what 2 of our orders were. Clearly these were missed. We patiently waited a full hour before following up our meals. We were told the duck takes an hour to slow cook? My guest joking said "you should have let me know it would take an hour" The waiter said "you should have told me how long you had for lunch" no so jokingly. When the food arrived my fish had been microwaved, the water around it was at boiling point and burnt my mouth, Not once did we receive an apology for the delay in food. Other than the fish, I was told the other meals were good so this is the only reason I have given 2 stars.
If i could give it 1000 stars, i would. Every dish was superb. Pork belly was melt in your mouth, boullabaise traditional and delicious. Service friendly, attentive and outstanding
Always a high class dining experience. Great atmosphere, attentive wait staff and superb meals. Not cheap, but you're getting amongst the best dining experiences in Melbourne.
One of those rare dining experiences where there is nothing I would have changed. The food wine and service were all exceptional.
Incredible food, absolutely loved it! The goats cheese soufflé is absolutely divine, as is the prawns and scallops St Jacques, the gin & dill cured Atlantic salmon, calamari and creme brûlée.
Favourite restaurant in Melbourne so far ️
Terrific experience. The service was impeccable. We were treated very well by the manager Simon.
The food was excellent, the service was friendly and professional, just right for that special occasion or just when you want a great meal at very reasonable prices.
Food was very overpriced. The portion sizes were very small. I ordered the pork belly which was $23 and incredibly small, even for an entree. Me and my husband then got the steak and fries for mains. The smallest, thinnest piece of steak and some very average fries.the saving grace was the garlic butter. Do not recommend and wouldn't go here again.
Sensational restaurant. Very homely and cosy space, great service and the food is excellent. We have been several times & tried multiple dishes. We have never been disappointed. Top class food and restaurant. Highly recommend
Had a great time here. Tasty food, excellent hospitality, intimate classy design inside and friendly staff. Could not find any faults. Thanks to Simon and Matthew for their help. If you’re reading my review, check this place out.
We had a lovely dinner. Delicious food and extremely friendly and caring service. This is the difference between ordinary and magnificent! Matthien (Matt), Simon, Haily and Nevaeh. Thank you
Great food, gorgeous interior, excellent service. Steak was perfect, the parfait and pear tatin were to die for
Very nice place and delicious food. Fantastic staff (thank you Mat!). Cozy. French. Had a great dinner for our anniversary. We’ll be back.
Excellent, my favourite French restaurant. Food, service and ambience are amazing. Never disappoints, wished I could go there every week.
Fantastic bistro, food delicous and the French waiters are professional and delightful.they make the experience 12/10. Hope you value them ️
We have come here many times. From an unassuming entrance off Collins Street, you can expect to be wowed by plenty of delicious food, from entrees to desserts. Efficient and knowledgeable waiting staff can help you pair fine wines with your meals. The duck risotto I had was so flavoursome and packed a mouth explosion. An old favourite bouillabaisse never fails to impress. The chocolate mouse is so velvety and leaves a memorable high note to your palate. The team is led by Simone, and he'll make sure your stay is memorable. The bistro deserves all the positive accolades from all these reviews.
Excellent service and delicious food, although the portions could be bigger. Actually not bad portion sizes for French food.
On walking through the doors we thought we were actually in a little French restaurant in the middle of Paris. We had an early dinner before going to the theatre. Food beautifully presented with prices you would expect, service exceptional - our waiter Matt who was very attentive and very happy to explain dishes and answer our questions regarding the menu. We cannot wait to visit again!
Amazing atmosphere and food here. The whole experience is very french tradional, you could well be in France for the authenticity. The table service was excellent, the food amazing and the wines very well matched. Definitely recommend this venue.
