Bistrot d'Orsay reviews
69This place is amazing. The food, service, and atmosphere are first class. The price was super reasonable. Highly recommend!
The closest we have seen to a real parisina restaurant in Melbourne.
The waiter with a very French attitude when we arrived but change completely to a very service minded and helpful person. The other waiters were very good too.
The food was just perfect for a French Bistró. I feel very sure that a French would say the same.
During intermission of a show at theatre, the theatre staff recommended Bistrot for coffee. Our party went to the restaurant at 845pm and greeted by (half empty restaurant), one table outside and not busy. We asked lovely wait staff for table (for coffee and dessert). We were asked to wait whilst she checked with (rude) male staff member. I can understand french fluently and heard everything they said. We were told they are serving dinner (even though they were closing in an hour, at 10) ? Not very good customer service and having travelled extensively both within and outside of Australia, very disappointed in the lack of customer service. My poor mum who has mobility issues was waiting at outside table looking forward to trying yummy dessert and french coffee. Needless to say, we won't return, au revoir et bon debarras.
This is my favourite restaurant throughout all of Melbourne. My partner and I visit for every special occasion in our lives and the entire staff only enhance these occasions.
Thank you for making my birthday last night an extra special one. Thank you to the waitstaff and the cooks, the food and atmosphere was exquisite.
You always make us feel welcome and it's always like we're coming home to family.
Thank you for the laughs and love!
This place was special. The scallops and prawns had one of the best tasting sauces I’ve had in a long time. The fish was outstanding and so was the gnocchi, but the 4 of us all loved our meals.
Absolutely loved our visit to this wonderful establishment, the atmosphere, the service and the food were all perfect. Book well in advance as looks to be always busy and perfect for dinner pre theatre show. Will definately be back. Thanks
Just keep coming back to our favourite Melbourne city French bistrot. Faultless in all respects. Keep up the great work Max!
We had a fabulous time here tonight! Thank you Max your service was fun and made our time here more enjoyable:)
Delicious French food in an elegant setting
- would have been better had the tables not sit so close to each other. Service was friendly.
The food was nice but it would be the best of french bistros in Melbourne. The atmosphere is cute but it is very cramped. Especially when chairs back onto each other, making it impossible to enjoy your dinner without having to be disturbed by the staff squeezing behind you. Service was average, - I had to ask them to put my wine on ice to chill when this should have been done automatically. Not great.
Just a warning: 1 elevator. Requires a staff member to drive it! Wide staircases. Suitable for the fittest audience members. Service alcohol and sweets are available for purchase.
The last time I ate at the Bistrot I gave it 4 stars. That was pre-pandemic returning now in 2023.
I have to give it 3 stars now. For the price, the food was not really up to par and the service was friendly but not very attentive.
Stunning food and exceptional service. The beautiful fresh ingredients and authentic French flavors made us feel like we were back in Paris.
Le meilleur de la ville!
Merci Bien team for your friendly service and even better food! A Cosy inviting ambience that will leave you feeling like you’ve just been to France, this place is perfect for date night or pre dinner show. Bookings are a must, however they always do their best to accommodate a seat.
Small, cosy French restaurant right under the theatre. Food is amazing and has a good selection of wine.
Had a wonderful experience last night. I come here annually and always worry that nostalgia had tainted my memory but coming last night reminded me exactly why this is one of my favourite Melbourne restaurants. It's old school European style dining. White table cloths, bread with the meal, and excellent food. The bouillabaisse is a must but everything else is wonderfully impressive. The staff are switched on and attentive, the wine list has a good spread of local and international options. The space itself is cosy and interesting with a painted ceiling, displayed artwork, and stacked up wine bottles offering visual interest. We had such a fun special night thanks so much to the team at d'Orsay!
Great French restaurant. Food, staff and service was excellent. Can't wait to go again
Nice setup. Romantic place. Great service. Bit pricey. For what we paid I was expecting bigger and better food.
Great service and excellent food we had a great time staff very attentive nice wines and cocktails the Cream Broulee was perfect that finished the night with the big bang a special thanks to Simone he made the night very special
Food is amazing and reasonably priced for a fine dining restaurant and service is best I have had in Melbourne the whole time I have been here. The waiter was so polite
