Fantastic bistro, great service and food, the steak I ordered was perfectly cooked, the waiters were very attentive and was kind enough to recommend a French wine to pair with the steak which turned out to be perfect! Please ask for wine recommendations if you ever go there! Great dinning experience!

Best French Restaurant in Melbourne! We went to Bistro Thierry on a Thursday night for our weekly date night. This was my first time here but my partner loves this place and wants his name on a plaque on the wall (life goals) Haha. He is so impressed with this restaurant that he told me he is happy to have date night here every week for the rest of the year! That is fine by me! Woohoo! From the moment you step in, you are transported back to France. The decor, atmosphere and smells brings you back to a classic Parisian French bistro. Wait staff who are all French greeting you in French adds to the atmosphere. I love it. The service was excellent. In terms of the food, the menu is classic French. I had the anchovies as entree, and my partner had the French Onion soup which he literally drooled over. The anchovies were so flavoursome and I enjoyed it. Probably ate too much bread at this stage now. My main was the barramundi - delicious! Could not fault this dish. My partner had a steak of some sort (I don't eat meat so have no idea about the cuts etc) and he enjoyed it too - he did comment it may have been a little well done but nothing to complain about. We had the side lettuce leaf salad as well as the sauteed green beans which were superb. I loved how it was served and my partner said he wants this lettuce leaf salad everyday! We were very full but we still had the amazing chocolate souffle which was to die for. Literally if you are a chocoholic, you haven't lived if you haven't tried this. Highly recommended for a special occasion, a nice night out. We will certainly be back next week and weekly according to my partner!

Best chocolate soufflé (always have room for this dessert). Also love the escargot and onion soup. Mains were big servings and tasted great as well.

What a great experience. Dined here with my partner for a fantastic dinner. The braised beef was outstanding as always and steak was on point. The bread just kept coming all night which was awesome. Oh the souffle. I don't think I've had one better. Been coming here over the years and will keep on coming. Highly recommend for genuine french cuisine

Beautiful French food in a typical French bistro style with French waiters.what more can you want? Just don't like the tables being so close.felt like we were four when it was 2 tables of 2.

This is an old favourite of ours—not cheap but food is always great & very French —friendly service without arrogance, excellent wine selection.

Every time I'm here I'm compelled to write a review. Gaspar and Patrick make a casual lunch an epic event. Best best best escargot anywhere, including Le Bristol Hotel in Paris. What can I say? 11 out of 10.

This Bistro is the best in Melbourne. Consistently good with food and service. It is impossible to fault the attention to detail.

A blast from the past. Quite the caricature of an imitation bistro from the 80s. Outdated. Menu probably hasn't changed in decades. I think not all the wine on the list is available. If you want this kind of experience its ok. But dont expect a tip for run of the mill service. Steak was cooked to perfection but my partners green salad was a few pieces of parsely. See you again when i get my time ttavel machine.

I am here dining in your restaurant and I am absolutely appalled by the staff you hire here! The man with the tiny ‘man bun’ was so arrogant. I wanted to enjoy a nice wine with my dessert, after a night out, however the waiter misinterpreted this and directed me to the pub on the corner, thinking that I just wanted to drink. That was not my intention and I felt very embarrassed. He did apologize and I appreciate the apology but how can I recommend your restaurant to my family and friends, it just won’t happen due to how uncomfortable he made me feel.
He said the only way you can have wine is if you order food, but then we found out the kitchen was closed. So we ordered dessert instead with a glass of wine.
Not only that, but he was talking very loudly shouting something in French towards the other waiters and the kitchen staff. To me it seemed very unprofessional and he does not come across as warm and friendly.
I’ve dined in cafes and restaurants around Paris and never have the staff treated me that way or spoken so loudly and arrogantly. It felt like a French zoo coming into your restaurant.
I will never return and I will be giving my business to Entrecôte instead! Never have a problem there.

The restaurant delivers top quality French cuisine in an authentic bistro setting. I highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions, romantic dinners or just for fine dining experience.
