Bistro Thierry reviews
73Had the snails for entree. Magnificent as always. Really enjoyed them. The staff were happy and friendly. Only let down was trying the scotch fillet for the first time (normally have eye fillet). It was ordered medium rare and came out blue (if that) and so reluctantly sent it back. They cooked it further to then send it out almost well done. Huge disappointment. Will go back to the eye fillet which is usually spot on.
Decent food with very nice environment, but the service pretty average, I have no idea are they limits time for each table or not, just felt all service was very rush and try to push customers!
Service was very rude and impatient. Food was very standard and not justified it's price at all. Waiter picked up my plate with half a steak on there with fries, and once I told him I wasn't finished told us that you have 10 minutes left until you have to leave. We were rushed to order, was rude to us when my girlfriend tried to get them to explain a few dishes and overal an unpleasant evening.
Very enjoyable quick lunch
The wait staff were very professional, punctual and friendly
The food was well presented and delicious.
The restaurant has a lovely vibe
Happy to return anytime
Wonderful food, service is exemplary and pricing is slightly on the high side but willing to accomodate for this because the food is wonderful. Have been coming here for years - menu is very diverse and the kitchen accommodates to suit your needs. Only downfall is that the restaurant is a little small. I would suggest the minute steak and the creme brulee!
Magnificent meal and service. The queue outside for the second sitting was a good indication of why this is such a popular restaurant.
Classic french ambience, accompanied by fabulous service. Very traditional menu, and extensive wine list. Food was good but not great. Duck was excellent but steak only average, salad verde very average. All in all would happily go back except for the other patrons, if you want to dine with the arrogant hoity toity then this is the restaurant for you. For me, I'd rather patrons who have enough of their own conversation to not annoy others.
I find the touch of my home country in Bistro Thierry. I am not an easy customer when it comes to French food but there is a nice cosy feel about Bistro Thierry and the posters on the wall remind me of my childhood. Always nice to talk french to the waiters too.
Yes it is boring to go back to the same place again and again and again. But I get great atmosphere food wine and service. So why risk it.
It was a balmy summer's night. We managed to persuade my MIL to look after the kids for a couple hours. I stole the missus away to Toorak for her birthday dinner.
I'd read good things about it and thought it would be a nice setting for her birthday. Spoiler: it was! The decor was whimsical yet charming. We had a table for two by the window.
We both love French food and BT didn't disappoint. I got the sous vide duck leg, which was melt in your mouth while C got the beef bourguignon. She's notoriously hard to please but I'm happy to report that she loved her dish. The onion soup was also hot and fabulously moreish.
They lose a star because they said they'd light a candle for us for my wife's birthday but they forgot.
Amazing food and wine and our waiter from La Defense. Merci Monsieur you made our night perfect?
Great service, food and ambience.
Not particularly fond of French cuisine, but you can taste the quality in the dishes.
Off all the things we ordered, probably the French onion soups wasn't what I had expected and companion commented that he has had better elsewhere.
The lambs brains was a first for me and it was done perfectly. Can't say I'm converted though, and it might have to do more with the psychological aspect of it all.
Love the duck confit and the apple tarte tartin, the chocolate souffle I was seeing being served around looked amazing as well.
Wouldn't say that I'll come here on my own, but would come back to take a friend who's onto French food.
I was treated to an early birthday lunch today at Bistro Thierry. The staff were friendly, fun and upbeat, and the food was terrific.
I ordered the lamb heart entree (not pictured, but delicious), devoured the beef bourguignon, and cracked into a creme brulee. It was a great meal, in a restaurant with a relaxed ambiance, and I look forward to returning again soon.
Fantastic as always and staff perfect! An ex employee came in and bullied the staff into allowing byo.that was a bit disheartening.aside from that was amazing
All things French is the best way to describe Bistro Thierry and it continues to be one of my favourites when it comes to French dining. The food is consistently good and the service, well, it’s very French!
Good atmosphere. Service was good and food was well presented. The staff are friendly. Some interesting choices in the menu worth a try.
Excellent service and great staff taking care of your every need. Definitely recommend the eye fillet steak - absolutely delicious.
Once in awhile you go to a restaurant that you have always wanted to go but just never got there. We'll we finally decided to book, as we had a friend from Sydney down for the grand final. When you arrive at this little gem, even on the outside as you walk through the wrought iron gates into this little bit of France tucked away in Hawkesburn. You are greated by the glorious sounds of enjoyment and the bustling waiters speaking french. You are then escorted to your table in a room decorated in French posters and many French Kepis (police.fireman hats) and Shakos (military hats) around the bar. I must say that the meal and the wines were absolutely superb and to tell what we had would be better left to you, just booking a table and experiencing one of the best nights out in an absolute amazing restaurant. Ps. Do start with a glass of French bubbly.look
Authentic French food and atmosphere. A little pricey but quality food and service. Lunch menu particularly good value.
Consistently delicious French food! Soufflé is a winner plus a birthday candle and wishes in French topped it off.
