BIG4 Phillip Island Caravan Park reviews
76Three teenagers and a 7 year old and we all had a ball. The place is clean and friendly staff. Less then a few minutes walk to the beach. My boys enjoyed playing basketball and my daughter in the game room. She loved seeing the animals at our door step. We had an amazing time and definitely we will be back.
We were a family group on a camping weekend away, everything was excellent. The astro turf was so good as a wet weekend. The facilities are excellent, we all commented on the cleanliness. Great kids play areas and the camp kitchen was brilliant with a pizza oven and lovely seating on the outside. 2 min walk to the beach and lovely walks to lots of different hospitality locations was excellent too. Really enjoyed the experiance.
Kids loved it here. Our cabin was opposite the playground so the kids made lots of friends and enjoyed spending the day outside. Cabins are cosy and location was right near the water as you come into Phillip Island.
I think that 119 dollars for that cabin it's too much. It was really small. There's not real kitchen for cook. Everything was absolutely small. If the price was cheaper it's ok but 119 just because you have access to the beach it's too much. I have been in others holiday parks around Australia, cheaper and bigger. I would pay a maximum of 90 dollars for something like that.
Top location with beach access that feels private.the facilities are comprehensive and within easy reach.
A good base for a Phillip Island adventure
Great all round holiday vacation spot great price and value.
Highly recommend penguin parade and walk over main bridge for coffee.
Visitied here awhile ago and got scabies from the beds and had people outisde our cabin yelling and screaming late at night and early in the morning. There really should have been rules about that. It has been awhile since we have been there so I am not sure how much has changed but this visit was not the greatest. The cabin though was pretty nice. We didn't spend all day in it but when we were actually inside it was nice and cozy and it had great AC
Where to start! As Big 4 Members, initially we booked a tent site but then the office called and checked if we were bringing a caravan to which we replied yes to and gave the model and size of van to ensure it fit on the site. We then also called to see if we could come a night earlier to which they replied they were booked out. Ok great. Not a problem. But.
When we arrived the park was maybe half full with many empty sites, so we assumed there would be a lot of arrivals coming in. The site were we placed in initially seemed small, tight up against the cabins. But the map looked correct and we setup. Later we checked with the office only to argue that the site was correct, and it was a large site, to which we had to run power and water through the campers site next door. We were offered another site but we had just spent an hour setting up under the impression your park was fully booked. Not to impose on the campers, we asked for some options re: the water supply and the office asked the ground men to entend our water connection to another outlet.
Only to find out, when a full time stay spoke to us and told us we are in the dead/privacy zone between the sites and the cabin, and the campers were in the wrong spot. No check from the office after the arguement that the site was small, the grounds men didn't seem to know anything, and so we stayed put, not wanting to spend hours of prescious holiday time packing up and setting up again.
The Campers told us the site was empty the night before which ment we could have come a night earlier but the office didn't want to check properly or make an effort. 1x nights fees lost: (
Why did they not check and ask the campers to move across? Who knows, lazy I guess.
Then when asking for last check out after all the mishaps and arguements, we were told we could have until 10: 30, and again argued saying that there was not enough resources to check the site over if we left later, also saying that there was someone coming onto that site. Bull! The Park was probably half full if that!
Then to keep the kids occupied, as Big 4 members we had a pedal kart hire included we thought they could ride them while we packed up. But again it seemed a hassle, saying we only had 5 minutes to get out cause they gave us until 11am to check out. And wouldn't be covered under insurance cause we had checked out, but we were still in the park and not checked out of the park.
We mentioned we had late check out at other Big 4's and they argued that each park had there own policies. Sure, if you are busy maybe not, but the place was not busy! And even so, use some descretion and make so allowances based on experiences of the guests.
We wont be back - The office staff to be honest made this stay just flat out bad.
The staff were lovely when organising a booking and with late check in.
However the “powered sites” for tents are just artificial turf on a bit of soil with concrete underneath. We couldn’t get our pegs in as it kept hitting the cement. We talked to 3 couples around us who had the same issue and they had to move their tent/awning over to the rocks which we ended up doing. Probably need more soil underneath so we can at least use the pegs, it kept pulling up the turf when we tried too.
The amenities were nice, about 3 showers per block but they didn’t seem to be busy when we went despite the park being full. It was about 20 mins out of central Phillip island and turning to go back to Melbourne was dangerous but obviously not the parks fault at all. Just be careful.
We would stay again if we could put our pegs in haha
Nice park to stay at if you want to get away from the hassle and bussle of how busy Cows can get. The beach is only a couple mins walk from park but you need to pay attention to the tide times. The shops are only 5 mins drive away. The amenities were clean all the time, and the staff were great at any questions you may have.
Good fun for kids and families, amenities are good, family kitchens and other facilities are amazing. Must visit and enjoy
Stayed here for 1 week with my young family and had a great time, was very clean. Staff were friendly and more then willing to assist with any questions. The cabins are a little dated, but perfectly fine for use. As far as big 4 parks goes, this is good, but not the best we've been to, it doesn't have any swimming pool and playground is tiny. We enjoyed our stay and will be back for sure.
A nice quite and friendly camping area. Ideal spot for a family with a young
children, play equipment/area excellent.
Friendly staff, great jumping pillow and play ground.
Cleaning not up to standard and the next wad uncomfortable
Good modern park close to beach, camp kitchens adequate, but TV reception poor. Only get SBS. As Ingenia investor, had discount voucher but prepaid gift card was a challenge to use, as staff don’t seem to know how to process to HO. Same problem in Landsborough Qld at Ingenia caravan park.
Fantastic place for a family getaway! Staff were fantastic, great location - exactly what we needed. Thank you!
Clean facilities and amenities. Friendly staff and can get busy on the weekend. Close to San Remo and to the shops and not too far from everything else.
We had a wonderful holiday - heaps of fun for the kids with the beach, buggy hire and trampoline and the facilities were clean and comfortable. Great spot for an adventure on the island, thank you!
After booking got a call from them stating the room you selected will be too small for 3 adults. As per their information, booked a other cabin which was expensive than the earlier one. Still got the same small room with small bunk beds. And even they charged extra for 1 adult which they never mentioned eariler when asked us to rebook the room. Really disappointed as they were not willing to listen.
Had a great time here! Was so close to the beach! Everything was clean and tidy. The only thing I didn't like was when we found out there were 2 snake sitings! That made me want to leave, but no one can control that!
