Bahari The Hellenic Palate

Great place for authentic greek indulgence. Friendly and attentive staff. Their saganaki, wild mashrooms, lamb shoulders, eggplant, are so good. I have been going there for years and i think they deserve all the glory they get. Very well priced too which is even a bonus. I wish they wouldnt close their kitchen so early at nights. I think at 9 it s all game over there. Highly recommend

We ordered the chicken and lamb souvlaki with the haloumi cigars. I'm not sure how this place is rated so highly. The souvlakis were packed with dry shredded meat and the tiniest sliver of salad and sauce. A nice souvlaki should have grilled, juicy, seasoned meat, not grey, dry, tasteless lamb. The balance of the souvlaki is also really out, more salad would have helped provide contrast and freshness instead of just poor meat and bread. In the end we just took all the meat out and ate the bread as the bread was good. Chips weren't good but we will put that down to being delivered, however they were over seasoned with dried herbs. Haloumi sticks were ok, nice crispiness but not much flavour. I would recommend avoiding this place for delivery food. I hope you guys improve in future, although we won't be back

Food was great but the customer service and the management handling of my complaint has meant I will not return again. More focused on the image than my genuine concerns.

Excellent meal; between two of us we knocked off the moussaka, one lamb & one chicken skewer, a serve of halloumi fries and service of the amazing potatoes. Service was fast and friendly and the food was outstanding.

The kingfish is really small. It's like 3 bites of food. Even the starters are larger than the main dish of kingfish!

Service was excellent. Food was so delicious, fresh and generous serves. Staff very helpful with suggestions to order. The moussaka was superb and the Galaktoboureko dessert was to die for. Absolutely beautiful, smooth. Just perfect. Thankyou for the wonderful experience. Highly recommend.

A lovely cozy spot on Swan St to get fully satiated with Greek food.

We popped in and ordered the trio of dips which were very tasty, accompanied with soft and light pita bread. Moved on to the eggplant which was absolutely delicious. The textures and flavours were amazing.

Then we had the whitebait and which was perfectly fried, accompanied with a very tasty lemon aioli. The octopus was great too.

We completed the meal with a Galaktoboureko which was light and sweet. A perfect ending to a wonderful lunch.

The staff were extremely friendly and hospitable. Felt like we’d known each other for ages. Will most definitely return.

One of the best meals we’ve had in Melbourne. Could not fault this place. Service - phenomenal, wine list - devine, and the food? My god

We had the melizanosalata dip, chargrilled octopus (so tender!), moussaka (bechamel on point!), chicken skewers, green beans (my favourite dish from childhood) and finished it all off strong with a serving of Galaktoboureko.

Decided to try this place as we were going to an event around the corner, and what a great choice we made! Each dish we ordered was beautifully presented and full of flavour. Definitely recommend saving room for the desserts. Shoutout to the great service we received as well, made for a great overall experience

My friends and I heard amazing reviews on Bahari, and they did not disappoint when we visited. The staff was exceptional at what they do, and extremely friendly and welcoming. We especially enjoyed the fantastic hospitality service from Dorian who went out of his way to ensure we enjoyed our night!
In regards to the food, it tasted amazing! Such great, authentic Greek food.
We will definitely visit Bahari again, the next time we’re in Melbourne!

What a FEAST! So much food, bahari done the Greek way, personal favorite the lamb shoulder that simply melts in your mouth. Service was warm and friendly. Definately be back

Cannot recommend highly enough. The food was sensational and the staff were brilliant. Special mention to Maria who went out of her way to make sure my partner and I had the perfect night for her birthday. Will definitely be back to sample more of the menu!

I’m so glad I found this restaurant, super friendly and the food is incredible, such delicious & balanced flavours, I highly recommend their lamb & chicken skewers, the cauliflower & grain salad is also very tasty. I will definitely be frequenting here!

If I could give more than 5 starts I absolutely would. Fantastic food. Excellent quality, taste and such a big portions. We ordered the banquet (the bigger one) and we have enough left over to bring back home. The entrees were amazing.

Ordered from the feasting menu for fathers day. Trio of dips to start with the best pita.moussaka, lamb, cauliflower and grain salad and the beetroot salad were all fabulous. Just warmed and served. Thank you Bahari. Can’t wait to get to back in house xx

We commemorated a milestone 30th birthday on Wednesday night. Based on high expectations from the rave reviews and the involvement of Philip Vakos on MasterChef, we booked for 7 people at Bahari. Thorough planning was made to ensure this celebration will be a memorable one. Well… it was, for all the wrong reasons. One of our party is Coeliac with a gluten free diet. She called up at the time of making the booking to ask if there would be anything for her to eat. She was assured that there will be no issue with this, they will make her a special dish. Once we were seated and about to order, lo and behold there was nothing they could make gluten free/coeliac. The management denied we had made the request and were happy for us to leave the restaurant. There was no empathy, offer a complimentary drink or any incentive for us to return. We went to another restaurant in the same street, they were obliging, food was excellent and were happy to accept our $$$.
Highly unimpressed with Bahari, was really looking forward to tasting their cuisine. Won't be back again, and happy to share this “experience” with everyone we know.

This place is incredible - great prices for traditional, tasty greek food with amazing, friendly service. You will not be disappointed! Loved it.
