Attica reviews
76Was worried this would be one of those overhyped places that wouldn't quite live up to expectations but this was absolutely worth the wait to come and the hype. Everything about it was amazing, the food, the staff, the whole experience.everything. Thank you
What a meal! The service was impeccable and the atmosphere was great too! I think maybe less food next time as we were definitely rolling out of there!
The sommelier was excellent - as was the staff who were all friendly. Food was an experience - in a positive way. You don't leave hungry - I particularly enjoyed the crocodile, Marron and Mud Crab. The skull was amazing.
Best food ever. Best service ever. Best people ever. Don't over think it people.just do it!
This was the best culinary experience we ever had. The creativity of the entire cooking team is mind blowing. The entire experience, including the visit to the pub, was one we will remember for a very long time. The food was divine and the staff were exceptionally good.
Faultless - service impeccable and culinary wizardry fully on show from the chefs. Deserves all the plaudits and more.
Wonderfully creative food and a trip through a variety of Australian native flavours. We had a great experience here with great, friendly service and even better food!
Last winter, we had our first taste of ants at ATTICA, and it was a truly enjoyable dining experience from start to finish. The service was prompt and we loved the post-meal surprises. But we were still hungry and ended up buying burgers afterward.
I was here for the birthday of my partner. I was looking for something special and we both left disappointed.
The food was below average. None of the dish impressed us, some of them were disappointing like the fried cheap sausages we got in the backyard which tasted like street food or the French fries which were Mc Donald level.
The service was fine but not great
At that price tag you expect a lot better
Food, service and atmosphere are amazing. Food is truly unique and I understand rare or difficult to obtain however at over $300 for each person I don't believe is justifiable. It wasn't THAT amazing.
I indicated I was pregnant prior to arrival and the wait staff also confirmed this for me. However I was still served raw fish and offered alcohol.
My partner also ordered a half bottle of wine but obviously the wait staff mishear and gave him a full 1.5L bottle of wine not sure why. Though it was nice and he kept it anyway
I finally ticked Attica off my bucket list This renowned restaurant in Ripponlea is known for serving innovative and contemporary Australian cuisine using only the best locally sourced ingredients. I made sure to book two months in advance for my birthday and boy, was it a celebration!
From crocodile ribs to big bird pastrami, mud crab to wallaby, emu liver to kangaroo and even green ants for dessert (yes, you read that right), the 10-course dining extravaganza was a wild ride. They even took us outside for a bit of Melbourne Showgrounds magic! I won't spill too many details, but let's just say the dining experience was absolutely exceptional. It's very different from the usual caviar and lobster fine dining, but defs a 5/5 one-of-a-kind experience.
With accolades such as being listed in the World's 50 Best Restaurants, and awarded two hats by the Good Food Guide (2023), Attica is a must-visit for an extraordinary Australian dining experience.

Overrated, overpriced and very pretentious! Spent over $1000 and have been to better spending $150
My Husband and I have been return customers to attica over the last four years and dined recently which was our 5th experiance.
Each time we previously visited attica including attica at home during covid one of the times. We definitely experienced the wow factor and left with a memorable experience that left us craving some of the dishes, prompting us to return.
Recently, we found that the quality of the food and overall menu left us feeling disappointed when comparing to our other experiences.
We received less courses and the overall flavours were not as impressive, yet the price remains the same.
Allthough the current menu is creative I felt that serving chips shocked me. I understand it is important to change things up but I feel the experiance just is not what it once was.
I feel brining back some of the classic dishes such as the potatoe cooked in the earth, the bread with the butter and other dishes that were seemingly simple things but produced textures and flavours that could not be replicated else where is what made attica for me
Usually ceebs to give a bad review but it's been 2 weeks and I'm still hung on it. Spending $700+ for 2 people on food that's just sub par it's disappointing. Serving me steak and fries with split bernaise and corn dog? Like really? Would expect better from the creativity of the chefs to be honest. Using exotic ingredients which isn't even exotic enough, to me it is not good enough, most people eat crocodile and kangaroo on a daily basis. I think desserts had the most technicalities with preparation/cooking method etc and the rest of the meal was just normal basic cooking. Service was amazing but food was a waste of my time. 2 stars was just for service the staff was lovely.
Geelong win the Grand Final, we are provided with an incredible dining experience and I propose to my life partner at Attica. Magic!
Throwback to my reservation on 16th August 2022.
Prior to the day of my reservation, Amy from Attica assured me that they got my special request and whether we have any dietary restrictions.
On the day, we were greeted and ushered by a friendly staff from the door to our sofa seats located on the left.
One thing that makes Attica special is the way they introduce Australian food through their food creation that is locally sourced. Food were surprisingly good despite using “exotic” ingredients. Everything was made to perfection. Some chefs would come and briefly introduce the food and ingredients inside the food that we are eating.
The lady on the backyard (Basque Cheesecake) was also friendly. She’s very warm as the fire pit and always keep the conversation going when we are there. At the dining hall, Jon was very attentive with our table and would come by to check if we need anything or something’s wrong. We took a photo with him too to end the fantastic night
Overall, great dining experience here at Attica. Definitely would come by again when we visit Melbourne
I want to start by saying that the service was impeccable - the wait staff were efficient, friendly and knowledgeable, everything you would expect from a world-class restaurant. The issue, however, was with the food; the food was not at all what we were expecting from a world-class restaurant.
When guests are paying in excess of $300 per person for food (we also chose wine matching so we paid over $1000 for the evening), they expect technique, flavour and dishes they couldn’t imagine ever making at home. We felt most of the dishes lacked these qualities.
With the dish, ‘Reko and Ben’s Picnic Caviar’; we understand the Australiana theme and the desire to use indigenous ingredients, but this dish tasted like honey and cream cheese on a pikelet. There was an over-reliance on the ‘ants’ as the ‘wow’ factor and not the technique.
The ‘New Dish That Saved the Restaurant’; tasted exactly like what it was; deep-fried lasagne between two pieces of white bread.
The ‘Killer salad’ wasn’t killer.
‘Murong Bread…. ’; basically peanut butter and jelly - served in the middle of a savoury degustation?
‘The Baked Potato. ’; we understand the technique in preparing this dish, but it didn’t go far past a baked potato. And with sour cream, again.
The ‘Beef Rib. ’ was fatty and nothing special.
There were too many dishes with sour cream and too many with finger lime.
The marron was delicious and a highlight, except we were explicitly told: “we will not be providing you with implements to get out more flesh from the remaining shell”. Apart from being wasteful, why not allow guests to retrieve more flesh they have paid for rather than having to resort to using their hands (as we had to) ?
OMG.
I have done lots of fine dining, but this is the finer of the fine.
Gotta put this on your bucket list. Worth saving up for.
Fantastic experience from start to finish. To be honest, I was a little skeptical of a 10 course degustation with no idea of what I was going to be served.turns out I need not have worried, this restaurant really knows how to delight with amazing food and also how to entertain. The staff were simply fabulous, so informed and incredibly helpful. The walk outside to the winter fire pit was a great inclusion. 10/10 Attica, we will certainly be back and thank you.
Next level fine dining. Everything was sensational from the food to the wine/cocktails/service/ambience. The emu liver parfait is the best thing I’ve ever eaten and the crocodile ribs were not far behind. Will remember this meal for years and years to come.
