We were looking for a great breakfast experience in Melbourne and chose A Treat of France. The moment we walked in, we were met with a display of the most delightful treats. I had the French Toast with berries which was excellent!

What a nice cosy cafe with the freshest bakes, parties and baguettes. The chicken and avocado baguette was so delicious. Imagine the chicken evenly being well shredded and light spiced. It paired well with the greens and sauce. The best part was the baguette itself was so well toasted and crisp. The chocolate crossaint and almond crossaint also had fluffy layers and was flakey.

Gorgeous hidden gem short walk from Crown Metropol. Lovely staff and my daughter loved her waffles. Great coffee.

The baguette at this French coffee shop is truly delicious. The coffee packs a robust punch without any bitterness, and despite the bustling crowd, the barista provided excellent attention and service.

Wonderful experience! We got the baked vanilla cheesecake and a croissant. Both were wonderful and the croissant is the best I have had in Melbourne so far. Staff were beautiful, and the cafe was full when we arrived but it still felt roomy and was decorated wonderfully.

My friend and I said hello to one of the workers and we did not get any response and then everyone that walked though the door he started saying hello and chatting to everyone that pretty much walked through the door a little disappointing actually as I m not from here so it would have been nice to see and be met with kindness.

I recently visited this cafe, which has gained quite a reputation, but unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. To begin with, the staff member who took my order didn't inquire whether it was for dine-in or take-away, resulting in my order being prepared as take-away despite my preference for dining in. And also the table hadn’t been properly cleaned. We had to ask the staff to clean it, and only then did they address the issue.

Upon receiving my order of a mocha, a latte, and a croissant, I was surprised to find that the coffees were disappointingly watery. It seems I encountered the same issue mentioned in a previous review, where the barista's skills might have been lacking during the afternoon hours.

While the croissant was enjoyable, the overall experience was marred by the lack of attention to customer preferences and the quality of the coffees. It's disheartening to encounter such subpar service and drinks from a cafe that boasts popularity.

I hope the management takes these concerns seriously and improves their customer service and coffee preparation to live up to their reputation. As of now, I cannot recommend this cafe based on my unfortunate visit.

And what a treat it is - lots of yummy options available, on display or to order.

Seating is a little limited but that’s also due to its popularity- so get in a little earlier!

Visiting Melbourne from Canada, I desperately needed a coffee shop with top-notch baristas and excellent cabinet snacks. Well, lucky me (and Celia), when we found A Treat of France on City Road. The staff are SO friendly - always a smile and a hearty good morning, and the coffee is absolutely delicious. Do NOT miss this as your go-to coffee stop if you're in Southbank.

I recently visited a Treat of France and was transported to Paris with its authentic ambiance and delicious cuisine. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with a warm smile and the scent of freshly baked croissants. The menu offered a wide range of classic French dishes, each expertly prepared and beautifully presented. I had the pleasure of trying the escargot and bouillabaisse, both of which were mouth-wateringly good. The coffee was robust and perfectly brewed, adding the finishing touch to my delightful dining experience. Overall, I highly recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a taste of France in a cozy and inviting atmosphere

Busy place, not the best if you're in a hurry in the morning. Toasties are great so make sure you have enough time

Nice small cafe located on the city road. I enjoyed Chocolate mousse crumb pastry. It was fresh and soft having intense chocolate flavour and melting on the palate.

This was the first place we stopped at every morning while we stayed in the nearby hotel. Amazing food! Come here to NSW so I can make this my everyday morning routine lol

This place is to die for. Best coffee in Southbank. Always busy. That's definitely a sign. It's run by mostly dedicated family members. I am going to miss them when l return to Geelong. Wish they could set up shop there. Maybe near the North Shore port where the new docking place will be for the Spirit of Tasmania! What do you think?

Excellent friendly service. Smiles and good will splashed about generously by staff. Sunny aspect on the corner means windows galore. Indoor/outdoor tables, benches, coffee-tables. Wide range of quality fillings in scrumptious baguettes and dangerously delicious-looking French pastries incl.croissants. Surprisingly inexpensive. Can't recommend more highly.
