The Metz reviews
76 Brilliant service and lovely decor, good food selection and great cocktails.
Chowder soup was delicious but a bit expensive. The pickled octopus entrees was incredibly tasty and generous. The side of potato's delish and the pizzas big and tasty. I think it's a perfect pizza spot in Lonnie.
From the moment I walked in the door I was attended to by Nadima. Nadima was there for everything, we were checked on frequently, table service included the delivery of drinks, so no need to line up at the bar. Plates were removed in a timely fashion, meals delivered promptly. Thanks to Nadima and the rest of the team, the service and food was excellent. Thank you
I absolutely love their signature calamari salad and every time I travel up north it’s what I have. Tried out the baked Brie was delicious.
Visited this place for dinner and also for office lunchs for a few times, must say it was a perfect pick. The ambiance was warm and welcoming. The venue, service and atmosphere were excellent and the food was great for the price. Good and different collection of cocktails.
The presentation was simple and elegant.
I recommend the premium calamari salad and a pizza, which both were great in taste. Especially the calamri, that was cooked to perfection، one of the best calamaries I have ever had. Over all good food and customer service.
Great food and service. The gin and craft beer lists are excellent - and the signature calamari and duck risotto were both amazing.
The atmosphere was cool and we were drawn in. The food was nice enough, a little salt heavy. Had a little mishap but that was fixed so all sorted. What surprised us was the 10% Sunday tax. As out of town visitors we didn't know this was something that existed so a declaration upon entry would have been nice.
We had a wonderful meal last night. The girls that served us are worth their weight in gold. The food was to die for too. We had the Mets bread for an entree and then a pizza each. Way too much food, we were able to take away our leftovers. Yum yum yum
Nice ambient, but unfortunately, it was the only positive thing. I asked for a bbq pork burger which is very small for a $29 burger. Also, the chef took 45 minutes to make it. The fries were horrible, and the burger was nothing special.worse than that, I asked to change for a takeaway and it took them another 10 min. Unreal
Had pizza. Nice crust. Beer was good. Good spacing. Would come back. Other food looked good as well.
Eat. Here.
I cannot say it clearer, this was the best experience ever!
The staff are so pleasant and friendly, the food a good portion a flavour. Not noisy even when full.
Highly, highly recommend!
Good prices, great food and drink terrific staff that all seemed happy and welcoming. Will visit again!
We made a last minute reservation for our date night. The service was amazing - our waiter Jamie was attentative and made good suggestions when asked. The food was amazing, with good portions. I highly recommend The Metz.
I was spending my afternoon looking for a cosy spot in the city to have a drink and bite to eat and then I found The Metz just on the corner of Saint John street. I treated myself to a lovely local beer on tap and enjoyed an amazingly fresh salmon dish with some perfectly crunchy fries and aioli!
The service was unmatched as Ken and Dave were more than accomodating and incredibly friendly, as was the stunning young waitress, Isabella.
Lost for words with my experience here, can’t recommended anywhere else but here now!
The absolute worst place that I visited during my trip to Launceston. While the Donzelle was a delicious starter, it's not hard to fry dough and salt it.
The second I was seated all I could think about was the ridiculous amounts of lights in the medium sized restaunt, i felt as if I needed sunglasses or a weilding helmet to see. Despite this, I was excited to try the Tasmanian soy poached salmon and my company ordered the salmon again and the pork belly, it took 50minutes since ordering for our mains to come out and when they did it was a disaster.
The both of the salmon "slabs" were like rock, it looked okay from afar but I stabbed it with fork then hit the whole piece against my plate, it did not break. It was like a cement bar. I've had well done salmon but this was next level horrible. It was as if they had been cooking for the whole 50 minutes it took to be made additionally I was missing my brocolini and was not informed of any shortages. On the other hand the pork belly was nice and well cooked but after the salmon.disappointment. I was not waiting another 50 minutes for their chef to figure out how to poach salmon. For a $42 dish that was unacceptable.
Great vibe, staff wonderful, food - oh so delicious. A well run restaurant. Reason for 4 stars is perhaps a bit over priced. Three dollar signs more accurate, instead of two dollar signs.
PERFECT creme brulee but the bombolini could use a bit more cream.
It would've been a 5 start but the waitress for my table was a bit rude. I asked how much longer till the desserts arrived (simply because my friend wanted to go out for a smoke before) and she barked at me "its only been 15 minutes since you ordered, it'll take another 5-10 mins it isn't a fast food place" but the waitress at the counter that I paid the bill to, was very friendly though.
Great pizza, Pesto alla Genovese, would definately order again. Our waiter Dave was very attentive, professional and good humoured. Do try this restaurant whilst in Launceston.
We come here ever year for our wedding anniversary & they are always so lovely to us us & have the best food! Thank you Metz ️
Over priced meals in small portions. Ordered the Pork and the crackle was soft and chewy instead of "crackly". Linguine was decent enough.
Loved the vegan food and attentive staff - 2020
*service was slow and inattentive, vegan menu isn't as good anymore, and when ordered vegan dessert I was brought ice cream from cow milk. Lucky i didnt have allergies! - 2021
