This place is excellent! Food and drinks are amazing. Service from their staff, even better. Kendra went above and beyond to ensure our family s table was well looked after. Very friendly and positive!

Came in to have dinner and we were not disappointed. The girl who served us was very attentive and helped us keep our daughter busy by giving her some colours. The food was delicious. We had the potato chats, vegan pasta and woodfired pizza. We would definitely come back the next time we visit launceston.

My daughter shouted her dad a belated Father’s Day lunch today at the Metz Restaurant and Bar, Launceston and we came away very impressed. The type of food served was quite new to us but we thoroughly enjoyed it. We opted to get a number of small plates to share. The baked whole Brie with lavash bread was to die for as was the bocconcini filled port meatballs. Our daughter ordered a Korean corn dog and thoroughly enjoyed hers too. We added buttermylk fried mushrooms and a serve of chips. Unfortunately we were too full to order desserts. We will definitely be going back again.

Service was amazing! Can’t believe how quickly the place filled up just as they opened the doors for the lunch service so might be beneficial to book ahead. The seperate veto/vegan menu had a lot of delicious options too, can’t wait to go back and try the pizzas

Had a wonderful dinner at The Metz. The food is absolutely delicious with a great range of flavors making each dish interesting and a pleasant surprise. We started with the Don-Don-Duck pizza, which was a rich and savory delight on a NYC quality pizza crust. We followed that with an unexpected deconstruction of Yorkshire pudding, which was, again, delicious. Finally, for dessert, a concoction of deep fried nutella, chocolate sauce and vanilla coconut ice cream finished off our decadent meal. My wife and I shared each plate and both left fully satisfied. The cocktails were also both innovative and delicious. A+ marks across the board for the food and the friendly and professional service. Well worth a visit! - Michael and Danielle, New York

My partner and I went to the Metz yesterday, since I we are not here and I was craving for wood fire pizza for a loooong time, so we made a reservation and we were not disappointed.

Since we were so hungry we didn’t think about taking photos.
However we had two pizzas and a bowl of chips
I would love to give 1more stars if I could for offering a pizza with rocket and prosciutto.
I was looking for this since I left my home country (3.5 y).
And 1 for having food with truffles Yum

Chips were fantastic too. I love that it was served with crushed salt.
I would give one more star if it would have been serviced with Rosemary too - laugh.

Okay let’s talk service.
God you guys have great staff. Can I have them as friends?
The lady who took our is order friendly lovely and made a good recommendation.
The lady who brought our food, you make people smile seriously such a sunny care bear.
The lady who - okay that sounds weird- took me money.she could be like a little sister to me, she smiles, she laughs, she talks and she connects with customers.

Do not waste your time on a venue with sydney pricing who can not be bothered honouring a pre-booked sitting.

We got there for our reservation and ordered cocktails while we waited for our last guest to arrive. 20 mins later, still no drinks. Instead, we are informed that the kitchen is no longer going to serve unless we wanted pizza. Our guest arrived just in time for us to rebook into Rupert and Hound, who graciously except us. Response to the Metz: Please be advised that I was one of the man sitting at the table wondering why we were being told that despite having a dinner booking the kitchen was not going to be serving us other than pizza unless we could order and recieve our full sitting inside 30 minutes. If we had been made aware on arrival we would have had the opprtunity to take the time in deciding what option we would like to take. Further to this, any indiscreprencies with booking times is between you and our host.

I am sorry that you feel this review has been harsh however, all I can do is review the brief experience I had. I hope your team can move forward and take this as a simple learning experience on how to best approach a situation such as this in the future.

For future reference, a simple apology is the appropriate response to my review, not false allegations on my personal behaviour.

Battered fish was disgraceful. What did they do? Scrape the bottom of the batter bowl? Add water? It was awful. Did not seem to care when we complained. Don't order fish and chips.

Food and service 10/10! Staff went above and beyond for my dietary restrictions. Added bonus great cocktail and wine list. Will definitely be returning

This was a such a great night at The Metz!
I recommend to come here for dinner! The pizza is the best thing I have ever had, and the drinks are also very good and got another glass of it so this is the best place to go! -Shakaya

Nice staff and good location but very average food. The menu is very inclusive of different dietary requirements but the food wasn’t of a very high quality. The Signature Calamari Salad had a few pieces of calamari and so much dressing that I was unable to eat the salad. The halloumi tacos were fine but neither dish was worth the $30 price tag.

Lamb was spot on, warm and soft. Calamari salad had Feta cheese, and the veggies were delicious as well. Decent selection of food, the waiters were very patient and attentive.

Would definitely recommend to anyone.

An amazing venu. They catered for our large group of friends bringing out delicious food and cocktails. The staff are lovely and know their stuff. I'd recomend the Metz to anyone.

Highly recommend this place, staff are very friendly and polite. Food is amazing. They also helped me complete my proposal to my fiancée！

Super impressed! We ordered a white-based pizza and poke bowl and when we received them we were blown away by the pizza (next level good!) but we’re disappointed with the poke bowl. We spoke with our waitress and she shared that feedback with the kitchen and said that they were happy to replace the meal with someone else at no extra cost. That was sooo accommodating and we really appreciated the flexibility. We ordered the vegetarian tacos to replace the poke bowl and it was delish!

I was so impressed with our waitress, Liv. She was so professional and accommodating and didn’t make us feel bad at all about the change in order. Having someone like Liv made our experience exceptional. Thank you Liv!

Excellent food great service. Have been there 5-6 times last 18 months. Whenever we are in Launceston, have NEVER had a bad meal or experience at the Metz. Looking forward to our next visit.

Cocktail was basically sugar syrup and sprite for $40 - wouldn’t waste your time.good for the older gen tho

I drank a glass of NV Jansz sparkling which was an excellent expression of Tasmanian sparkling and would please most champagne seekers for 1/10th of the price.

The donzelle (fried salted savoury doughnut) to start with a tomato pomodoro sauce was comforting and really appetising.

For main I had the Moroccan seitan tajine with apricot and root vegetables. Packed full of flavour sweet yet heartily savoury. A great winter/ wet weather dish.

On the side I had hassle back potatoes with a thyme bechamel and Rosemary salt.

The food was so good I'm glad I took left overs but disappointed I didn't get to desert.

Customer service this evening from when I walked in was exceptional from all staff.
