The Duke reviews
76Awesome meal and great service. Doug and his wife made us feel at home and we spoke as if we were long time friends.
I had the Surf'N'Turf here, it definitely blew my expectations away, steak was cooked perfectly to order, the sauce was delicious, no complaints, definitely recommend! Staff were also extremely friendly which is a bonus!
We were there for a birthday party in the funtion room. The facilities are good, and there was a bartender to make drinks. The host of the party organised dinner which was an alternate drop of chicken and steak. We payed $30pp for quite average food imo, which did not meet my standards. The drinks were also overpriced.
Fun venue for jazz blues music.
Good pub food and selection of craft beers on tap.
Well worth a visit.
Great place. Fabulous music, good food. Wonderful staff. The owner is full of fun and has a great voice.
It's a must, if you are ever in Hobart.
Great food, well priced, friendly and warm atmosphere.
No pokies/gaming machines.
Wood fired pizzas.
Had 2 mains, entree and 4 drinks for around $100.
The Duke of Wellington Hotel is also the Hobart Blues Club, so they regularly have live music too.
Beautiful meal brought out pretty quick too, and the best part was the children were allowed to watch the pizzas being made. Will be sure to return again
What a wonderful welcoming atmosphere! Live music was perfect loved the sax playing mostly lol but the whole band was awesome:) The staff most welcoming checking constantly but not to constant that we were comfortable and had everything we needed, great smiles:) The food was delicious oh yeah steak cooked to perfection, chicken superb! I had a few cocktails this night Mmm they were yummy hehe The publicans were the nicest most welcoming folk who entertained us all night a lovely place to be on a cold Saturday night in Hobart town! Do drop in support the locals we will return.
The produce was super fresh and beautifully cooked for maximum flavour. The King Island scotch fillet was amazing. Great Monday night pub food!
Incredible calamari.cooked to perfection!
Awesome friendly helpful staff. Definitely be back.
Food was good. I'd eat there again but they do need to up the anty on their housekeeping. Lots of things that need attending to.
What an underated venue! The food is top shelf and owners go out of their way to ensure a great time. Highly recommended
Great friendly staff, food was awesome, highly recommended their risotto so yummy fantastic service
Very cool pub, quirky and friendly. Great staff, food was fantastic and awesome selection of beers. Worth a visit!
They have fantastic food and booze and their chips are to die for. I must highlight the fact that they have Trivia nights every wednesday (If I'm correct) so it is even more fun to take a bunch of close friends and see how smart you really are! Also, they are huge Sea Shepherd supporters and regularly have movie screenings. Food & Booze + Helping raise awareness to protect the planet, what a perfect combo!
I very much enjoyed my time at the Duke last night. I was there for dinner with a bunch of old and new friends after a meeting in the Duke's upstairs Meeting Room. As always, Doug and Kartika were warm and welcoming hosts. I am teaching my granddaughters chess and I need practice myself, but don't know anyone who plays. I was very happy to learn the Duke has a Chess Night, 6pm every Thursday.
Good grub, good booze, and very friendly owners. They have been stalwarts of the live music scene in Hobart, supporting local musos through the tough covid times. They deserve all the patronage they get, and more.
My experience at the Duke was a good one.
The service was fantastic- Including some help to find somewhere to stay for the night.
Great local beers on tap and a tasty vegan pizza.
Highly recommended.
The staff are amazingly friendly & on the girl band with the Publican's wife singing was just awesome bc she can definitely sing.
