The Den Salamanca

Went on Wednesday last week, was super busy with only two people serving. A third person (glasses and short hair) was standing at the end of the bar, wiping menus and staring at everyone waiting to be served. Looked bored, it was very unprofessional. Drinks were nice, the girl with long hair served us and was very knowledgeable. Don’t recommend if you’re in a hurry

I had booked a reservation for 8.30pm for 14 people & was advised over the phone the kitchen closed at 9pm & we would be seated in the upstairs area.
When we arrived on time, & we were directed to sit in the front booth & they said we will bring the cocktail menu.
I said no we are booked upstairs for dinner at 8.30pm & were then told no the kitchen closed at 8pm!
Less than ideal to find another venue for a party of 14 with no notice on a Sunday night at 8.30pm
The supervisor would not even come over & speak to me & sent one of the bar staff to mediate the situation.
Very poor form The Den. I regularly bring groups the Hobart & this venue is now off my list indefinitely.

First visit. Lunchtime. Friendly accomodating staff. Good menu. Reasonably priced. Lovely setting.

Top notch wee spot. A range of fabulous cocktails, wines & gins and an excellent lunchtime special.

Very good quality food and cocktails. Despite being quite busy on a Saturday night, service was efficient and friendly.

We were lucky to chance upon this beautiful little bar. Very intimate and cosy, draped in the warm wooden decor. Great staff, great drinks.

Such an interesting experience. GREAT FOOD. Not great service. Unfortunately bad enough service from one person for me to never recommend to someone else.
I went to the bathroom and the door handle broke and I was locked in there for some time. The team got me out, but no apologies, just shrugging it off.
But again I can't blame them.
However there was one waitress who was extremely rude placing things down in nasty agression, and anything we asked was too much. Which is SOOO unfortunate because the food was actually incredible.
I had the best bao, karage chicken and gyoza I have had in Tasmania.
It could have been the greatest.

Cool vibe, more upmarket. Pricier drinks but that's expected at a quality venue. Great place for a date

Was absolutely shocked by how nice the fit out of this place is, absolutely stunning venue. Drink selection was fantastic with the assistance of knowledgeable staff giving us a run down of some great local drops.

The staff were fantastic in particular the gentleman behind the bar in the upstairs function room, he was so professional and helpful. Thank you for making my daughter's engagement party very memorable.

Love this place on a weekend. Most recommended if you just wanna hang out with friends, grab a few drinks and just sit there and talk for hours.

I'm just mad because I saw so excited about my drink I forgot to take a photo to share my excitement with the world. The Den has the best smokey old fashioned I've ever drank at any bar. When they make it infront of you it's even more of an experience. The flavours are great and the whisky you've chosen for it fits so well. I live in Melbourne now but will forever go back to The Den when I'm in Hobart for that smokey old fashioned!

Great place, good vibe and set out.
Cocktails where not great, very weak. Food took forever. The portions where small, but extremely good.

Cocktails were average dilute in flavours and unbalanced in taste - just rated 2 though - and service weak, place untidy no Covid check in enforced

Cocktails took at least 20 minutes per order. Is this normal? Floater staff member gets 5/5, they were brilliant. Bar staff didn’t want to replace a drink that had sat at the bar for 20 minutes-sat there as long as it took them to make the cocktails-waiter insisted it be replaced. Safety first guys.

We were really keen to dine tonight having made a booking on Friday for today (Sunday).
We sat at the table for 20 mins without being provided menus or having anyone speak to us after we were shown to our table. Didn’t even have the opportunity to make eye contact with the waiter.
Concerned that this would be further indicative of wait times for the food we left.
No one even notice when we walked out.
It seemed as if there was one waiter working the entire (two levels of the) restaurant.
Shame.

Great afternoon for a private event. Super friendly staff, food and drink selection was great. Love the atmosphere - exposed brick, great setup.

Had some drinks here on a birthday weekend on Saturday night 5th June 2021. When we left the bar I had left my tobacco tin on an outside table. We returned later when I realised I had left it there not hopeful of it still being there. One of your friendly door staff had grabbed it before anyone else took it and held onto it till we got back. Thank you so much for that, I am so grateful.

Being a local, I visit this bar often, sometimes just for a wine on a weekday. The only food I have tried is the caramelised pork belly with miso. I have had this about 4 times and each time it's been sensational. The vibe is very cosy and I love the gas fires! It's in my top 3 in Hobart.

The champ Richard behind the bar made my first experience at The Den DELIGHTFUL. Such a thoughtful, kind man. Willing to fix any issue and such a positive attitude
