Really amazing way to learn about Tasmania wildlife. “Unzoo” is a take on not caging any of the animals, and providing a way for animals and humans to interact naturally with people. This includes birds, kangaroos, and the famous devils. This plenty to see and do for a full morning or afternoon, we had a great time.

Firstly the highlight. Seeing the Tasmanian Devils, but as they say the kangaroo and devils are the only animals behind fences, the rest of the animals are free to come and go as they like.

The only other animals we saw were a couple of Rosellas, a goose and a pademelon or two.
The concept of a 'unzoo' seems like an unorthodox way of saying "we don't have any animals" but you might see some wildlife. (We saw more "in the wild" than we did here.)

The unzoo itself is looking rather tired and run down, which considering the entry price ($125 for a family of 4) is surprising. If you time your visit with a Devil talk you can be in & out in just on an hour.

So, it's ok to do if you're on the Tasman Peninsula seeing Port Arthur but I wouldn't make a special trip.

Love the concept of unzoo! A different experience than the usual. The animals there are active

Extremely expensive. There was only 4 Tasmanian devils, a few kangaroos and a few gooses… They couldn’t get the eel to come out, spent 20 minutes talking about the Devils breed and how they behave but only spent 1 minute feeding them two pieces of meat… Not much information on the animals. There was a weird cemetery of the Devils… Definitely not worth $115 a family. Not recommended.

Probably the highlight of my trip to Hobart and surrounding areas. The keepers are excellent and very informative. You can see animals close and there are feeding sessions with Tasmanian Devils, Birds and Kangaroos. Very nice park.

Great to see animals in a more natural environment. Staff were helpful and informative. It was a little disappointing that no plant based options were available for coffee.

I've been to the Unzoo twice, once a few days ago, and previously a few years ago. In that time the Unzoo has moved further toward embracing its concept, which is great for the animals it aims to support but does mean the experience is a little more unpredictable for guests.

Visitors can be assured of seeing a few older Devils who are now captive at the site, and there will be an opportunity to hand-feed and pet some kangaroos, but other things at the park are somewhat dependent on the whims of the largely free-roaming animals that frequent the Unzoo.

It's not a place to go if you just want to check off a list of Australian animals to have seen. But a visit to the Unzoo is unique, and money earned goes toward the conservation of the endangered Tasmanian Devil.

Very unfriendly staff. Wouldn’t recommend going.

And to expensive for what you get. $44, - pp.more expensive then the zoo.

This is an Open zoo, in that local devils transit through, but you can watch the Tasmanian Devils feeding - as it’s a rescue/rehabilitation centre so some are contained.
There is an area where the small kangaroos are, where it’s possible to take a look close up, inside the enclosure, and hand feed them if you wish.
Our guide was very passionate and knowledgable.

Nice unzoo, not boring and you could interact with kangaroo. Tasmanian Devil was easily spotted.

Love the concept of an Unzoo but disappointed at the place. Looks very old and run down ('rustic? ' Perhaps). Saw exactly what we were told we would see. A couple of devils briefly, the roos, and a couple of birds. Not worth the $160 We spent on 4 adults.

OK so this is one of those attractions where I feel like the guide makes or breaks the visit. Our guide was great, so we had a really good visit. There aren't alot of Devils, and they are older "retired" devils from other Zoos.

We arrived at 9am on a Sunday and were the only guests. We followed the map and walked around the unzoo, and visited all of the various groups of animals. Pademelons were my favourite. So cute. We did see roos, various birds, and even managed to spot Devils without the guide.

At 10 we went to the dome for feeding. Two other guests home us, so a small group. The Devil at the Dome wouldn't come out for feeding so our guide took us to a different Devil, and she was up for a feed. The guide was informative and we really enjoyed the 30 minutes or so of feeding with the Devil, then walked to the Kangaroo enclosure. All the while the guide was talking about the Devil survival plans, and pointed out various plants, animals and birds. More people started arriving and they were invited to join.

It wasn't a polished big production, and there aren't easy to spot animals everywhere here. But taking time to walk around a rustic former farm turned animal sanctuary was a nice way to spend a couple of hours. It felt very authentic.

An amazing place to see Tasmanian devils and other Aussie wildlife up-close. They aren’t a zoo, they’re a sanctuary. We saw devils really close up, and got to watch them be fed. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Loved our visit.

Amazing experience! The staff were full of facts and stories, and the animals themselves were so beautiful. The grounds themselves are a Tasmanian paradise full of ferns and native trees and birds, but the Devils steal the show. The unzoo concept works so well for this place and we changed our plans to spend the whole day there. Highly recommended!

Had fun feeding Kangaroos (they liked the tree leaves more than the pellets) and I learnt about the Tasmanian Devil.

$92 for 1 adult and 2 kids to see one Tasmanian Devil and feed some kangaroos. Venue in disrepair and the longest serving stager has been there 8 weeks. This is a rip off and half the pace is closed off.

Loved, loved, loved my visit here. The staff were amazing. Helpful, pleasant and well informed. Being able to feed the kangaroos was indeed a highlight. Perfect place to bring the kids. A truly wonderful day out. Thankyou ️

The Tasmanian devil was good, however it could have been more informative. Being able to feed the kangaroos was nice. The facility looked, disorganised, some of the displays (human and farm) were very daggy. I like nature, so enjoyed parts of it, but it’s not worth $45. It would need to be more informative and organised to be worth that much.
