Strahan Village reviews
81NO BLOODY AIRCON. Seriously. The fan supplied was decades old and as noisy as a train. Be aware when booking that you may end up on top of the hill. Don't be fooled into thinking you will be located on the Esplanade. The room was a decent size. Great shower. Dining on-site was expensive. We had to fix the fly screen. We had to prop the window open with a stick from the garden. I wouldn't stay again.
Stayed in a room with no aircon and a window that won’t stay open.
There are no fans and the sun heats the room up like an oven during the day
With the blackout blinds closed the room is a thick poorly ventilated heat trap at night.
Struggled to sleep and have the kids asleep 2 nights in a row, we were all sweating.
Tried to phone and ask for a fan but number rings out
Do not stay here on a hot day up the back of the place as it’s pretty horrific in the room.
The bar is pretty good and views decent
But we won’t ever be back
Very nice hotel in a convenient location. Our room was just a few minutes walk to the Gordon Rover Cruise terminal (do note that the walk is down a hill). The room itself is spacious and comfortable. We were given 2 cookies on arrival - a nice touch. Reminiscent of our stays at Hilton Double Tree hotels.
Don't believe the internet not the same as the photos. Had problems with a blocked toilet. But a nice little town if you want to relax.
Very noisy Room, next doors Air Conditioner ran all night and every time it cut in and out it vibrated through our window/blind.
Disappointed that Restaurant was closed, as the view from dining room / bar is amazing.
Bed very comfortable and Room clean.
No view out our window just bushland.
Cute little cottages along the waters edge. A restaurant within 10m of our room was open for dinner but you had to have a booking - the accommodations restaurant was not open when we stayed (winter) but we managed to get a seat at the bar, The food was amazing.
Rooms were clean and comfortable - in need of some updating, but spacious. Best hotel shower pressure we've seen.
A lovely town that I'm sure is very busy in the summer months. A great short stay for us.
Great place with fantastic old world feel but unfortunately the village itself lacks atmosphere. The choice of meals in the village is poor and expensive and the service isn't much better. There are other restaurants out of the village but I haven't tried them.
Fabulous stone cottage for 3 nights.very small village built on tourism.friendly staff and excellent service.
Great accommodation in the small town of Strahan. We stayed in one of the mini cottages along the esplanade. It was near the road and there was some car noise, but it didn’t bother us. The wifi was very weak inside the cottage, and was stronger outside. I suspect it was coming from the main lodge area. Overall a very nice stay. The Christmas cookies upon arrival was a nice touch too.
Cozy room with good room service, free wifi, central location on the esplanade close to the tour shopfronts, cafes and IGA.room does tend to get warm on a hot day and the table fan or lack of in room AC might not work for some.other than that all other amenities were up to scratch and conviniently located.the village itself is quaint and beautiful with historic buildings dotting the landscape. Hogarth Falls, Henty Dunes are all short drives from the hotel.
Pretty decent place to stay, though wifi was weak in my room. 5 stars for the amazing buffet with fresh seafood and amazing spread
We took the hilltop room. Totally disappointing and I am unsure how anyone could rate this hotel with five stars! Beds lumpy and walls yellow with stains on the curtains. Property shabby and entrance to restaurant smells of damp. I wasn’t expecting too much with 3 stars however this is NRMA backed so I thought it would be to a certain standard. In desperate need of a revamp.
Great accomodation with on-site restaurants, bars and cafe with great proximity to cruise terminals, visitor information center, for the play “Ship that never was” and train station.
Best view of Harbour from the view 42 restaurant.
Great location, room is in need of some tlc, taps in bathroom need fixing, air con cannot cope with cold.
Rooms are dated but clean and have all necessities. Beautiful views. Kitchen staff went above and beyond to provide phenomenal vegan food options. Highly recommend!
Wonderful stay in a very pretty place. Here for Christmas day, come here every year. Great Xmas lunch at view 42.
Nice place to stay with spectacular view from hilltop. Very friendly and professional staff. Customer service was excellent, young lady at reception, I think her name is “Foram”was extremely helpful and welcoming, we had issues regarding wifi connection she went above and beyond to apologise and helped us to change the room including gave us complimentary drinks and was very happy to help us out with any issues. A great visit.
Great little village close to Gordon River Tour Boats, go see the play The Ship that Never Sailed.
It depends on which room you get, Standard rooms top hill are disasters. Very shabby without air conditioning with bad smell, how much the personal try to clean the rooms because the room is very old it doesn’t feel clean. View of these standard rooms are car park!
I have gotten this room because no other room or hotel was available on the date we were there and I can say this room completely ruined our travel to Strahan.
Outside the shabby room hotel was good, perfect location and beautiful view from its 42 restaurant.
Prior to our arrival we were informed that our booking for cottages was change to motel accommodation up the hill. We were very happy with our accommodation. The management went above and beyond to apologise including gave us complimentary meal and drink
