Scamander Beach Hotel Motel reviews
70The bistro is awful, do not stop here for a meal. $40 for a surf & turf and it was a tiny, rubbery piece of meat that was horridly overcooked, with two prawns on top. The service took a stupidly long time. Ordered at 7.30, wasn’t eating till 9, and it wasn’t even busy at all—just three or four tables were occupied.
Although this accommodation is a little dated and in need of makeover the room had a great view of the beach and water. Meals were good and service friendly.
A star for the friendly waitress.
The food was VERY average and incredible expensive for a boring meal. Overpriced +! We would have got nicer food from a take away fish & chips shop. Won’t be back.
We went for dinner to this restaurant and I must say that was probably one of our worst experiences. The food was tasteless and very pricy and one of our meals contained 2 bits of hair in it. When we asked to speak to a manager instead of apologiesing he full on started arguing with us and we didn’t even hear the word sorry once. Very awful service from the management would not recommend.
Food and service was great. A fantastic little bar for a meal while travelling Tasmania’s east coast.
Beautiful view, not quite the experience we expected. Extremely tired, run down accommodation but it was clean and dry if a bit too expensive! The upside? Where else do you draw the curtains to reveal this view?
This is a budget hotel with million dollar views. For just over $100 a night you get basic rooms, great service from caring staff, nice food and drink. Good bar and good enough pool. If they did it up we couldn't afford to stay there.
Great views, friendly staff, clean rooms. Rooms could be updated but we were very happy.
We will definitely be back
We cannot speak highly enought of the service we had at tha Scamanda Beach Hotel. An accident on the way up delayed our arrival till after 1.00am. The owner waited three hours for us to arrive, and took us straight to the bar and offered us a free drink when we eventually arrived.
Generally the room was great and excellent value for money and our meal in the restaurant was really enjoyable. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great holiday away with a beautiful beach right over the road.
Reviews said rooms were basic. They were, but they were clean and sufficient for our overnight stop. However, the meal at night was disgusting. We ordered 4 roast lamb dinners $23 each. Our jaws dropped on the table. There was 1 piece of meat with a drizzle of gravy, 2 pieces of roast potato and pumpkin - both the size of a 1 inch cube, a few grey beans and mint sauce that was the colour of water. Except for the sauce, the food was tasty but the quantity would not have fed a 4 year old. When we complained, we were told that the serving size was correct and that there had been many complaints but management weren't listening. We were offered extra meals but as the first lot took over 1 hour to come out, we declined. They gave us some chips which we took back to our rooms. This was a final slap in the face - they were dark brown - obviously refried leftover cold chips. We were so hungry though, we are them. In saying that, the size of the other meals was quite good. Perhaps lamb costs a lot of money in Tasmania, but surely vegetables don't. Won't be back as it appears this has been the case for a while according to a staff member.
