Scamander Beach Hotel Motel reviews
70Would avoid staying. The bar underneath the main set of rooms began blaring country music from 10: 30 pm until the early hours of the morning on a Thursday night making it impossible to sleep. Would hate to know what the weekends are like.
What a wonderful stay! The guest services and the accommodation was fantastic. Our dining experience was exceptional. Definitely recommend the cocktails and food at the bar and restaurant.
Hotel with good views… outside looks very modern inside is just good but the beach view is awesome and worth a place to stay in scamander….
Pros. Beautiful view and friendly staff
Cons. Two separate tap for hot n cold water which becomes nightmare in winters
Great value accommodation, great base for exploring, restaurant is top notch, rooms a little dated, but very clean and functional.
Very quiet with a great space just outside the door with play equipment for the kids that is completely fenced in. Just across the main road is the beach. The room was clean but old. There was no fan in the bathroom, and not a lot of room in there either. The food at the restaurant was great and they also have a bottle shop. Great little place for a short stay.
Do not stay here! We had a terrible experience. The attached photos show the rubbish pile right outside of our door and a derelict rusting washer/dryer sitting in the car park. Our rooms bathroom was dirty (looks like it was partially cleaned then the mop was just left there). The toilet was literally falling apart and wouldn't flush. When we complained they moved us 3 doors down.it was better but the bathroom was still unpleasant with mild and the room smelt bad. Perhaps the Delux renovated rooms might be better.couldn't be worse!
Where do I start. I booked a Queen Oceanview Room. While I go the Queen and the Ocean view, the rest of the room was appauling. There were stains and burn marks all over the carpet and white stains on the bed scarf - absolutely disgusting. There was something funky on the table - I originally thought it was dried shredded cheese but didn't dare touch it. I then decided to move the bed. And there I found a big chunk of bread or some other sort of crumb along with an accumulation of dust that clearly hadn't been cleaned in a while. The outside glass door was filthy and the walls are paper thin. I could hear everything from the room next door. There was mould in the bathroom and I don't think the vent has ever been cleaned.
I am under the impression they have a 3.5 star rating through the Quality Tourism Association. 3 stars means "exceeded above average accommodation needs". My accommodation was far from this. It met the 1 star rating, 2 star at the most. 2 star ratings also state that "services and guest facilities are typically limited". One small bar of soap per person is not enough to wash hands for the entire day and also ones body. No room service, no telephone. One bin for the entire room instead of one in the bathroom and one in the main room. These are all what I would consider "limited facilities" and under no circumstances "exceed above average accommodation" as a 3 star rated facility should.
Won't be staying here again.
Stayed here for a couple nights, room was nice, toilet didn’t flush properly leaving toilet paper in there, sliding door was hard to open, convenient parking. Walls were very thin and could hear others showering, going to the bathroom, talking and watching TV which was a bit annoying and if that bothers you don’t bother staying here.
Bistro was alright, didn’t get a meal from there but got dessert which was ordinary and took a little too long for my liking. Seemed as through one staff member ran the whole place with her running back and forth from the bar to the bottle shop and kitchen. Her customer service was amazing and thought she was so lovely and helpful.
Best part was the hotel cat Candace who was friendly and cuddly.
We ate dinner there in winter and I was the first to try their vegan parmy and vegan panacota. Was amazing and delicious. The staff were also amazing and so friendly and efficient. Would recommend for dinner as my husband had an amazing parmy as well.
Great budget motel, the room was nice the bed was comfortable and the views were spectacular. The restaurant staff were very friendly and efficient. The chicken parmigiana was one of the best!
Highly recommend this place as a great place to stay and outstanding food, very friendly and outgoing staff, meals already outstanding so can't wait for next time with the new revamp of the kitchen, Thankyou for a pleasurable time
Close to the beach very clean and comfortable, but restaurant not open on a Sunday or Monday night
We came for a couple of nights to spend some quality moments with God by the beach and get some drone footage down the coast. Spiritually, we would really recommend the property as a place to just sit looking over the beach and be still in God's presence. If you don't know how to receive God's presence just ask him to reveal himself to you in Jesus Christ's name. Using the name of Jesus gives you access to God. Ask in humility with your heart not with your ego. If you say sorry to God for everything you might have done in your life to displease him and ask him for forgiveness through Jesus Christ expect to supernaturally feel transformed!
Thanks for having us at the resort we'll be be back!

Went to hotel to get a drink.couldnt complain about the service.wasn't any.twice.thought food to be expensive for pub meals
Rooms were fine for a low budget room, if you expect more than this for this price you need to lower the bar a bit. If you are after an evening meal avoid the bistro at all cost. Drive to St helens and get a meal on time. 3 hour wait and missing a course all together. On a positive the ladies working the floor were exceptional to the point that one of them stayed to help even after she had knocked off. Kudos to a diligent employee!
Waited over an hour for our food. Sauce on the Parma was watery. Quite expensive for the quality as well.
Putrid food. Hot chips tasted reheated, surf & turf topping was appalling. Hacked up seafood thrown on top with an average sauce. Service was chaotic and unfriendly.
Very nice place to stay, clean and tidy, rooms are very clean, and food served in the restaurant was very enjoyable, highly recommended this hotel
Greasy af garlic bread and chips and far too expensive, nice staff but I'd go somewhere else next time
Nice, but desperately needs an update. The 21st century has well and truly arrived but they seem to have missed the memo. Bathroom could do with a good scrub too.
