Will not be rushing back to this place. Very tired and wanting of a face lift. Room furniture dirty, carpet dirty, door handles on all doors I had in my room loose. Lift had an odour.

The 2 stars for my review are for:
- friendly reception & restaurant staff
- ocean view
- working heater

We were fortunate to take our dog but the Shower was mouldy, the room smelt mouldy and it was cramped.

Filthy bathrooms that had mould and soap scum from the last poor people who stayed there. The fridge had obviously leaked and if you move it, you can see mould under it too which might explain the smell. I was bitten by bed bugs and had no top sheet. There was a dead flea in my towel, which also looked unwashed. This place should be shut down, there's no way it would pass any health and safety inspection.

Great value, superb location right on the beach, awesome views and wonderful restaurant. This resort exceeded our expectations with one exception - the bed was very hard and sloped to the middle.

Nice cozy stay; affordable pricing, excellent customer service. Food was lovely and nice bar area with a pool table as well.

Very old, dirty motel with a zero score on cleanliness, no power, such a small old bathroom. Such disgusting smell from the carpet in the room, no aircon, no basic facilities, having paid $180 for a night, I expect better.

Terrible experience at Scamander resort, i had 11 years of travelling in Australia and had stayed at budget hotels to 4 star hotels but never come across such a pathetic accommodation for which i played $350 per night.you will shock to hear as below:
No exhaust fan in shower/toilet and no power point to do shave /dryer
No bin in shower
No toaster / microwave oven / coffee kettle
The list goes on.

Scamander beach resort is a great place to stay, awesome staff and there meals are to die for.
I highly recommend for anyone to stay here and come Christmas book in for a fantastic dinner you won't be disappointed that's for sure.
We will be back another time for either a venue held or just relax and have a swim in the great pool provided.
Thankyou scammander beach resort for the great get away on Christmas day

Our bathroom was covered in mould, as was the inside of the kettle. I woke up after an extremely interrupted nights sleep (there was next to no privacy) with an extremely sore back from the horrible mattress. Our room was full of flies, and when we went to complain about the room we had received for the price we had paid, there were other guests already doing the exact same thing.

We booked for two nights, left after the first. You couldn’t pay me to stay another night.

It exceeded our expectations due to previous poor reviews. Yes, there is rust on the toilet brush, there's no face towel, there's no AC, toilet doesn't flush properly and stains on the chairs and curtains. However, once we got past that, it was a basic and decent stay close to Bay of Fires.

The receptionist was responsive and friendly, there's netflix, we got hot water in the shower and desks were clean and there's a fantastic coffee place across the road (Swims Coffee) with access to the beach. This is definitely more like a motel though.

Not a resort, it’s a outdated motel. Restaurant is closed/bar for the whole day and they didn’t tell us until we was ready to eat and left us stuck. Way overpriced, felted dirty and the bathroom is the worst I’ve seen in my life.

There are certain moments that shape human understanding.

David Bowie for pop music.
Picasso for modern art.
The aero plane for global travel.

Scamander Beach Resort Hotel does that for holiday accomodation.

In fact, it has transformed and challenged my own understanding of what a resort hotel should be.

The regenerative architecture is evident to see, with mould that wraps around window shutters, ceilings and shower.

Inspired by rustic design, you are able to fully experience it in the fullest sense - with rust settled firmly into the kettle.

Taking their environmental responsibility seriously, there is only one light in the main abode - a shrill clinic white that gives off Dexter vibes (even though I’ve never watched the show).

If the Scamander Beach Resort Hotel is a 4 star accomodation - then a Bunnings Snag is a 5 star Michelin meal. The latter I would gladly pay money for - and then spend more on succulents I dont actually need in store.

For almost $700 for two nights, only the first two words in its name are accurate - it is located in Scamander and there is a beach.

But as for resort and hotel - you have to be generous in their definitions.

The only redeeming feature was the lovely lady that served us at reception with a knowing look - this isn’t what you think it is.

At least she got to go home for the night.

Amazing views from the room, warm hospitality from the lady at the reception but only thing that lacked (which is probably the most important aspect) is cleanliness of the carpets and the bathroom. The hotel management should understand that these small fixes or upgrades can make their rooms actually feel like hotel rooms rather than motel rooms. But, overall its good enough for a short stay.

I'm giving 5 stars because the hotel offers excellent value for its price. The room was spacious and had a spectacular view. They have very easy after hours check in and check out process.
Nice touch with the 2 for 1 drinks at the bar. I would stay afain when visiting the east coast of Tasmania.

Facilities are oldish. We felt lift is so old. Everytime we used lift was really heartbreaking. It made weired sound once that lift finished its journey. Bathroom, comod, tap also too old. They didnt even change towel during our 4 nights stay. Carpet, chair, table and table top was dusty. We paid double during hokiday period bit did not get expected service. They should update their oldish things.
Only positive service we got at their restaurant. Their Restaurant manager Simone and her team were awesome. Food was good and tasty.

Good food, very tired and worn out resort though. Not so clean, small rooms, great view from a very small balcony.

After a very good beach walk we asked about dinner. Due to a function we had eat there and then. The staff were very accommodating and made us feel very welcome. They were very knowledgeable about wines and food.
And the food……….
We had the most amazing entree and mains and to cap it off a takeaway dessert.
Very well priced. Very friendly team.
Will be going back!

Very pleasant hotel overlooking Scamander Bay. Very pleasant staff. Good restaurant menu options - substantial meals which very reasonably priced. Bit noisy (thin walls), but comfortable bed. Overall very good value.
