La Cantina Restaurant reviews
63They wouldn't let us order mains because we asked to order our starters first. Called us "queue jumpers". The soup was overly salty and the garlic pizza was below average. Worst dining experience I've had in Launceston.
First Class. Great location, welcoming staff and food and decor terrific. 5 Star all the way. If in Launceston and you like Italian this is where you eat.
The service was wonderful, the food was better. We enjoyed every mouthful. Good sized mains, we had a herd pizza to start plus mains. Staff were attentive and regularly checked on us.
Prices on the door and website are not updated! The new menu prices are $4-6 more than what you see online and outside the restaurant. This should have been updated already.
This restaurant has been here since ever. An institution in Launceston. The service and food is as good as ever. The decor is also inviting and casual. Good Italian fare.
Make sure you book well in advance. They get very full. Delicious food and good service. Good portion sizes. The Ravioli Bianca Neve is absolutely delicious.
Service and wait time for this restaurant was terrible! Many complaints were made across the restaurant by other frustrated diners. The staff seemed disorganised and just gathered in groups standing around talking. To get a drink expect a 20 to 30 min wait and at least one follow up reminder! Meals took over 1.5 hours and although quality was amazing the several follow ups did not make it a great experience. Such a shame given the quality of the food.
Poor service from the senior staff member. Poor guy trying to learn. Been told to do something and not having a clue. Her rolling her eyes saying his going to take for ever. Came out for dinner not your bloody drama lucky i was with someone I would have told you where to stick it. Will not be going back.
The woman I spoke to had a warming personality who was easy to talk to and also had a beautiful resturant.
Slowest staff have ever encountered. 15mins to get a menu and 35 for lemon squash.girls walk past with eyes closed
Good service, great food selection, reasonable prices.can recommend the veal and prawns in a mushroom and cream sauce
I ordered a Lasagne. The outside was very hot but inside it was only a little bit warm. It had to go back to the kitchen to heat up. The second time it was ok. The restaurant is in the center of the town located and easely accessible.
We were made to feel welcome, even without a booking. Our waitress went above and beyond to make our visit enjoyable. The pizza was delicious and served quickly. Great family restaurant, I would recommend this to anyone looking for an authentic Italian meal.
Very delicious fresh made pasta. We ordered Futticcine with bacon mushroom in wine and creamy sauce on the special board. It was beyond expectations. My daughter eat them all even though she normally avoid mushrooms on the menu. Riqatoni with prawns was also fantastic. Only Veg soup and herb pizza were not impressed.
Food overpriced. Dry chicken, mushy vegetables, we had no cutlery and my wine was watered down. My daughter's lasagna had been reheated in a microwave to the point the bowl burnt her. Tasted like Lagos canned spaghetti sauce mince. Wasn't fresh.
Good Italian restaurant, the garlic pizza was great. Pasta was fresh made and tasty. Staff where nice.
Absolutely delicious meal and friendly staff
Pizzas, pasta and desserts all amazing
The 5th star would be earned when the Garlic bread pizza has more garlic on it.
Food is delicious. Service a bit slow.but who cares.dining is enjoyable when savored.not rushed
What an amazing, truly authentic Italian experience. The food was beyond exceptional! We were so glad to have stumbled upon this place!
Place looked promising with pleasant decor and friendly staff, but things went downhill rather quickly. Soup arrived while we were still having our gin and tonics. Then a bottle of red, which we had asked to come with the mains, arrived in the middle of it all. The soup was very nice, but halfway through the mains arrived. The waitress mumbled something about someone having stuffed up, then dumped the mains on our table anyway. There was no water offered. We had to go and ask in the kitchen to get someone to bring out a peppermill. My steak was supposed to be rare. It was red inside, but very chewy. The vegetables were most uninspiring. The sauce on the veal was very sweet and the meat tasted like it had been re-heated. After we left, one of us became violently ill. I hate writing bad reviews and I don’t like saying bad things about Launceston, but for $160.00 this is very poor value. I can cook better Italian food myself. Not a pleasant experience. We had simple fish and chips at the local pub the day before and it was far superior to this.
