La Cantina Restaurant reviews
63We arrived at 6.15pm on Saturday night - without a booking to be fair - but the place was 3/4 empty. When we asked if they had a table, they looked at us as if we’d asked if we could borrow $10,000. Rude and disorganised.
Need to get the basic things right. Food was over priced. On the menu it states (oddly) that you get 25 pieces of ravioli. Now not to be pedantic but we got 19. The food was not great. The service was average at best. Too busy talking instead of taking customers orders.
Very very poor service, very expensive for what you get & probably would charge you to go to the toilet, food was only ok.
Cannot recommend & will not return.
Overrated & extremely overpriced.
Really not a great experience. The wait staff had no idea about the Italian wine (couldn't even tell me if it was a white or a red) despite it being on the specials board. Also they did not know if the bolognese was pork/beef mix and I had to ask the waitress to ask the chef.
Strange that the owner/managers/head chefs can't take 5mins at the start of each night to familiarise the staff with the menu.
Wouldn't go back.
Website says open Friday night until 10.30, after a show at Tramway we walked there arrived at 9.35 and it was closed.
They wouldn't let us order mains because we asked to order our starters first. Called us "queue jumpers". The soup was overly salty and the garlic pizza was below average. Worst dining experience I've had in Launceston.
Service and wait time for this restaurant was terrible! Many complaints were made across the restaurant by other frustrated diners. The staff seemed disorganised and just gathered in groups standing around talking. To get a drink expect a 20 to 30 min wait and at least one follow up reminder! Meals took over 1.5 hours and although quality was amazing the several follow ups did not make it a great experience. Such a shame given the quality of the food.
Poor service from the senior staff member. Poor guy trying to learn. Been told to do something and not having a clue. Her rolling her eyes saying his going to take for ever. Came out for dinner not your bloody drama lucky i was with someone I would have told you where to stick it. Will not be going back.
Slowest staff have ever encountered. 15mins to get a menu and 35 for lemon squash.girls walk past with eyes closed
No flexibility in the menu at all. Small dishes. Meal took a while to come although quiet when we ordered! Not the best experience.
Meal was okay but menu at the front is take away and alot cheaper then "dine in" menu.didn't realise this until we paid.
Food was alright. However, not great enough to have waited over 1.5hrs. Just not good enough. Waiters very lovely.
Prices on the door and website are not updated! The new menu prices are $4-6 more than what you see online and outside the restaurant. This should have been updated already.
The food price doesn't match the quality at all. In terms of flavour, the food we ordered had no flavour, especially the pasta which was extra creamy. Icecream however was very nice. The service was also poor, we were left unserved for a while.
It’s a bit expensive and some of the ingredients feel cheap given the price. Portion sizes are alright. Good staff.
Service is definitely lacking, walked in and was stared at by the waiter wasn’t offered a table had to be asked to be seated. Was seated right up against the wall in seats that only a 2 year old could fit in. The menus were taken off the table before we could order mains. Like previous reviews $2 is ridiculous to pay as an add on for Parmesan cheese, never been to a Italian restaurant where you have to pay for cheese. For $30 the gamberi had 6 prawns. The portion was very large and the pasta was fresh but prices are steep and service is lacking.
The service was excellent, only con was the food I ordered.not sure if it was supposed to taste like vomit or not but it wasn't pleasant, dessert was delicious
I ordered a Lasagne. The outside was very hot but inside it was only a little bit warm. It had to go back to the kitchen to heat up. The second time it was ok. The restaurant is in the center of the town located and easely accessible.
Food overpriced. Dry chicken, mushy vegetables, we had no cutlery and my wine was watered down. My daughter's lasagna had been reheated in a microwave to the point the bowl burnt her. Tasted like Lagos canned spaghetti sauce mince. Wasn't fresh.
Absolutely delicious meal and friendly staff
Pizzas, pasta and desserts all amazing
The 5th star would be earned when the Garlic bread pizza has more garlic on it.
