Josef Chromy Wines reviews
90It's a must visit location, great opportunity to have a successful date. Food was very fresh and tasteful. Must do whilst you are in Tasmania! Beautiful wines and surroundings
If you have a lazy Sunday in store, I thoroughly recommend that you spend the afternoon dining at this fabulous restaurant with the most beautiful setting within Josef Chromy"s vineyard looking out to a pretty lake.
The quality of the food is exceptional and the excellent wine selection to complement the food just makes for the perfect dining experience.
I ordered the fresh oysters from Smithton, the Grass Fed Beef Carpaccio, followed by the Slow Cooked Beef Short Rib, absolutely delicious and beautifully presented.
Not to mention the special service by the ever so warm and friendly staff.
I personally love the Pinot Gris and my partner, the Pinot Noir.
If we lived in Launceston we would most certainly make this visit to the restaurant and vineyard a regular event.
Great restaurant great food and stunning location! Exceptional customer service from Maddy, she is an asset to your establishment. Wine tasting was a pleasure thanks to the expressive and personable Sandy. Thanks for a great day of fine wines, delicious food and amazing views!
Delicious food and tasty matching wines. Great grounds to walk through, booked the 'Let's do Lunch' package and no one seemed to realise that's what we had but we had to a great server who sorted it out for us. Gets very busy so recommend booking ahead!
Was disappointed on our way to airport wanted to have a quick tasting asked for booking didn't have 1 though I tried calling numerous times with no answer and left messages, there was plenty of tables. We would have only been 20-30mins Max. But there was no compromise disappointing as we were looking forward to the tasting. Ohh well other winery took us anyways.
Wonderful experience had at Josef Chromy Wines. We had a lovely lunch to celebrate my wife's birthday. The food and wine was excellent and the great service from our waiter Marco was very much appreciated. If that wasn't enough we were spoilt by the surrounding gardens and thoroughly enjoyed our stroll around the magnificent lake. Highly recommend, will be back.
My fave Love it here, love the wine, the venue, the staff, the wine! A must visit when travelling Tasmania
Josef Chromy Wines cellar door and restaurant is a stunning location to experience superb Tasmanian wines and fine cuisine made with fresh local produce.
Set among old English gardens and stands of 100-year-old oak trees, and overlooking a picturesque lake, winery and a 61-hectare vineyard, the property is a 15-minute drive south of Launceston.
Acclaimed as one of Australia’s top 10, the cellar door is housed in the original 1880s homestead. There’s always a log fire burning and great views to take in while you taste a wide range of award-winning cool climate wines including Sparkling, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Botrytis Riesling and a Ruby Pinot Port.
The restaurant matches the best local regional produce with award-winning wines for unique à la carte lunches, sit down dinners, BBQs in the gardens and harvest brunches during vintage.
What a magnificent vineyard just outside of Launceston Tasmania. The grounds are glorious and the wine tasting experience was by far the best I've ever experienced. Seated at individual tables, the wines are poured and each is extensively explained. You're then left to enjoy each glass and take in the amazing scenery that surrounds you. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable. By far the best wine tasting experience I've ever had.
One of the best restaurants going with lovely views of the winery. The wine is also top quality. Definitely a place not to be missed if you are in the area weather local or not.
Beautiful location with amazing wines (especially the Pinot!). Great restaurant and Cellar door tasting options!
Visited from the mainland a month or so past with my partner. Sharon was such an excellent host that I brought my father and brother back and was delighted that she was once again on hand to guide us through the wonderful offerings.
Cannot recommend enough.
After many unsuccessful attempts we finally managed to visit Josef Chromy Wines this afternoon. With perfect weather and the most outstanding platter tasting, it was our host Sandy putting the icing on the cake. A wealth of knowledge, courtesy and charme she is a wonderful Ambassador for Josef Chromy Wines. We look forward to our next visit and it will be soon. Thank you Sandy.
Terrible attitudes from staff. The area was hired by a wedding party. I am disgusted by the service
Lovely grounds with more than ample Charcuterie plate. The classic wine tasting works well. Not tasting their high end Pinot but bought some on the strength of the tasting
Really great restaurant and wine!
Firstly, this winery restaurant is in a stunning location, surrounded by beautiful trees and vineyards.
Secondly the food here is really good, from the oyster starter to the ocean trout and beetroot entrees and the trevally and zucchini mains everything was close to perfect. For me though, the buttermilk mouse dessert was the real winner of the day.
For wines, the oysters were matched with the non vintage Josef Chromy sparkling, the entrees with the 2020 rose, the mains with the 2019 chardonnay and the desert with the 2019 botrytis reisling. All were exceptionally good.
Finally the staff could not be better here. Comes recommended!
Excellent lunch and wine tasting here. Food and service was top notch. Every dish was delicious. Fav was the ocean trout and the fried potatoes.
Will venture again on a sunny day, the outdoor seating looked inviting.
Shocking. Three girls behind the counter were having their photos taken. We waited 15 minutes in which time not one of them acknowledged that we were there. They went on talking amongst themselves after the photographer left so we left. Bought a case of lovely Pinot down the road at Sharmans. Shame you didn't want our money.
Our excpectations were high, but disappointed given that we were not eating in the restaurant and made to eat outside, where the wasps were in abundance.also no plates issued with our share platter.
Delicious food combined with our excellent waitress and scenic views made for a lovely dining experience. The beef cheek was so tender, compliments to the chef. Definitely come here if you want to try some of Tasmania's finest produce.
Fabulous birthday lunch. Best table in the house out on the terrace. Food, wine and service all exemplary.
