Living locally & close to the highland, a road i frequently take from Deloraine to Hobart. I always stop here for some lunch and a beer. Also a hotel i have been brought up knowing & visiting since i can ever remember.
Located in the heart of Tasmania, the Great Lake Hotel is the perfect place for a hearty, modern country-pub meal, a place to stay for a relaxing getaway or somewhere simply to stock up on fuel and supplies.a focus on fresh, local produce in a relaxed environment. Lunch and Dinner served daily.

Great food, excellent staff. They were very busy and we still received the best hospitality we have had in a long time.
Well worth the drive.
Thank you and we will visit again.

Handy for toilets in the middle of a very long drive. We didn't actually go into the pub.
(Shame about the dirt road! I do wish Tassie would seal more of their roads and/or have clear signs stating the road conditions.)

Very friendly staff and owner, good atmosphere, well worth a visit for the food and cold Tassie beers on tap. The accommodation is looking tired.

We popped in for a coffee and cake for morning tea and were served by the most rude and arrogant woman we have ever met, asking what the cake was on the bottom shelf of the display, she told is in a very unfriendly manner to read the front and also when we asked for our coffee to be made extra hot, she answered I make it hot, she was so sour and even one of our friends said that he wouldn’t be buying anything from this business with the attitude this women had. She needs customer service skills training and a smile helps, but it seemed just to much for this woman

What a great evening. Everything was perfect. The food, the drinks, the staff and the owner himself. Thank you to all of you. Keep it up.

The staff were very welcoming as was the Hotel. The food was cooked to perfection. Not only was the steak perfect but the fries & even the toasty bread was exceptional. The hotel was warm & cosy & super friendly. I have been coming here since 1995 & I am overly impressed. First class!
Never been better.

I had a great grilled rainbow trout that was caught in the morning from Great Lake. Excellent service.

I have nothing bad to say about my visit to Great Lake hotel. The meals were fantastic and so were the staff. I will certainly be coming back.

Food was good Rooms very ordinary but clean. Some of staff need a refresher course in basic standard PR The bar manager on the morning of 2/3/21 was grumpy, unfriendly and unhelpful. Needs to find a job where she doesn't have to deal with public

Pub hotel small campground with electricity kind of in the middle of nowhere food available here only social hub for.any miles in any direction petrol diesel available here no mobile coverage.
Good place to review your journey as many of the central parts of Tasmania and different routes are available from here
Very scenic and a rest here is nice as full concentration is required on all roads around here.

Ate here for the first time in a long time recently. Will not be back. $30 for a dreadful steak, soggy chips and a tired old salad. To top it off, the service was unfriendly to borderline rude. My mates’ meals were equally bad. Really no redeeming features. Not the honest Tassie hospitality I was expecting on the annual trip home! Drive on if you can.

Stopped in for a feed.the pizza was below average.it somehow managed to be both blackened burnt and sloppy. To say the bar staff were grumpy would be an understatement.appeared to have been sucking on lemons.

I didn't expect much from the other reviews before we booked - but I was still disappointed. Our room was very dirty. I don't mind things being dated etc but the filth got to me. We brought our own pillows luckily & washed our pyjamas when we got home. The the staff were nice though & beautiful view.

Disgusting. Dont bother stopping!
Food is terrible. Burnt and soggy. Couldnt even get a simple pizza right. Service was with a grunt.
$5 for a tiny glass of lemonade too.
There looks to be a nice pub down the road. Keep driving to that one

Surprisingly good food for being in the middle of nowhere as a tourist. Overpriced but worth checking out if driving through.

Cheap accommodation but the stove didn’t work and there were old mattresses lying around in the lounge room. We returned home from a long days fishing at 7: 30pm and thought we’d get a nice pub meal. We were told that ‘the grill has been turned off’. The service was too relaxed and quite rude. We returned 30 min later and the entire pub was shut. These people just don’t care. I hope someone buys this place and brings it back to its former glory.

For $4, the bowl of chips, is a bargain, it's warm on a cold day, toilets, veranda looking out on the lake, WiFi.
