Great Lake Hotel

Beautiful place. However service could be better. Ordered 3 meals but only received 2. Ordered a glass of bubbly, lge coke, small apple juice. What we received…. Bottle of bubbly, lge apple, small coke. 4 meals charged until I spoke up. Very disappointed in the experience after driving 2.5 hours especially for lunch.

Great Lake Hotel lunch was one of the best meals my wife and I have had. We have traveled a lot around Australia and for a small town this hotel food punches well above it’s weight. My wife had Lamb shanks with veggies and mash. I had wallaby patties with veg and potatoes and onion gravy. Wow this food tasted better than the best home cooked meal! We were very full due to the size of the meals but we still opted for dessert. (we turned it into linner) Dessert was sticky date pudding for the wife and crusty apple pie with cinnamon ice cream for me. Seriously if you don’t eat here you will regret it. John was our host and he is a very personable guy. He made our time enjoyable. Overall the best country meal we have had in Tassie and if you know your food you know what I mean.

The best pub in the great lake region. Beautiful renovations, yet very unassuming. Food is amazing and the staff are lovely. Highly recommended popping in for a visit!

Great service. We visited by push bikes on whilst doing the 500km Tassie Trail and then returned by car several more times and found it a great place to base activities. Hot showers, delicious food, laundromat. It's all there.simple

Had a meal with ten friends. Great fusion menu. I would love to have the starters course as main course option too.

Alex was a terrific host and if you're staying - definitely book in for dinner. Treat yourself to starters of calamari and also the prawns. Meatball also good for staters. For main go for the Drunken Chicken. If you have room, have the Apple Pie. Basically anything you choose will be amazing. We are from Melbourne but if we lived in Hobart we would make the trip for the meal. Tasmania - you're lucky.

Stopped off for lunch with a party of more than 50 other bikers. I had an excellent set meal. The kitchen did an amazing job to serve so many in such a short period of time. Meals were hot and tasty and the bar staff did well to deal with everyone coming in at once.

Stayed in King Ensuite Room and everything was perfect. Very clean and comfortable with a very comfortable bed.
Restaurant provided good range of food and wines. Meals were were excellent.

Gorgeous bar staff. Delicious food. An atmosphere as warm as an open wood fire. What more could you ask for.

Great food and service. Our waitress was Felicity who was very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.

We had dinner here last night, My Wife had the Pork belly, while I had Chicken Parma, both meals were nice, but we also had the Apple pie, which we were told is made and baked on site, who ever is making this delicious dessert, keep it up, it was absolutely delicious and would recommend, if you have nothing else have the apple pie.

Excellent day to enjoy a motorbike ride, had fantastic lunch here. Interesting menu, seafood chowder is super yummy! Thanks and compliments to the chef

We stopped here for lunch on our journey through the country from Hobart to Cradle Mountain.
Everyone was really welcoming and friendly…the food was delicious and the views spectacular!
We had the fish and chips, chicken burger and goats cheese pasta and the flavours were amazing!
We were a party of 4 adults and a 4 month old and would recommend anyone driving by to stop here for food / drink (coffee) it is well worth it!

You’ll have mobility issues after visiting this place because the food makes you weak at the knees! Incredible views, service and meals! Declan was a dead set legend will definitely be back! 10/10

It's off the road just enough m that I had been to great lakes three times and did not know it was there. I'd book for lunch ahead on a Sundays winter day other than that great. Ample parking and a great petrol station behind it

Exceptional service with very friendly staff. An excellent and very accommodating menu for people's individual diet needs. Food was amazing. Cosy and very inviting atmosphere. Well done!

Beautiful place to stop for lunch in the great lakes region. Food was delicious and everyone on my table absolutely loved their meals. Everything was reasonably priced too. Definitely will be back.

Good pub food with amazing service. Shared entrees, mains and drinks for 4 pax totalled $160. View was amazing.
