Absolutely beautiful inside with a warm inviting open fire and it reminded me of the old log cabins. Staff were exceptionally friendly and chirpy.

What a beautiful place, everything was awesome. The views and location are beautiful. The set up for your beloved dogs outside was a highlight for my partner and I, it’s so nice to see the care for our pets. The staff are lovely and nothing is too much trouble, and the food was so good, we’d come back in a heartbeat if we lived closer.

Room was great. Lovely and clean. Day bed along windows was a nice place to sit and relax. Unfortunately a lot of the view was blocked by buildings, water tanks and plants. Nikki (not sure on spelling) lent us a couple of blankets to sit under to watch the footy. The meal was lovely in the dining room and reasonably priced. Really nice atmosphere. Lovely open fire. The staff were incredibly helpful and extremely friendly.

Lunch with a view of the Great Lake.
I had read good reviews and was not disappointed. Friendly and efficient service staff that couldn’t do enough for us. I had the carnivore pizza and had to box up half. Only a lumberjack could eat the very large pizza I was served up. Carnivore pizza is enough for two normal people to share. $24. My husband enjoyed the sweet potato chips and garden salad. Both generous servings and reasonably priced.

Best place to stay in the region. Warm, comfortable, clean rooms, hospitable. Great meals. Best continental breakfast supplied, ready in room when we arrived.

Food has become a lot fancier and higher in quality than your classic pub meals. Had delicious pizza. Great location

Fabulous food and views across the lake.
Where else would the maitre de pull up a chair and sit at your table to take your order; and on a busy day. You go, Nicki.
We loved it.

We were hassled about ordering food and booking in as soon as we arrived
Just wanted a drink and see if we wanted food. Went to order food and more drinks with another staff member when I said were we were sitting old mate butted in to say the table was booked there was a table exactly the same next to it which wasn't offered so I said forget the food
Old mate needs to get some public relations training

Arrived about 1.30 on a Sunday for lunch and the waiter advised there were no tables, even though we could see many vacant, didn't seem to be interested in serving us and sent us up the road "5 minutes" to the next restaurant which didn't exist, good service, lol.

Thank you very much to James, Alex and the rest of the crew at the Great Lake Hotel in Tasmania! It was our first camper van trip and we had 4 families with young kids rushing towards our caravan site late at night. With the vehicles low on diesel, raining and freezing (for our standards), we literally were out of options and we were so fortunate to have chanced upon the Great Lake Hotel. James was very accommodating, letting us top up our vehicles, offered us hot delicious meals and a great place to stay. The crew was excellent and service was top notch! Rooms were well cleaned, comfortable and reasonably priced. I highly recommend this place to anyone touring Tasmania and we are sincerely grateful for your awesome hospitality!

We stopped here for lunch while exploring the Great Lake area. The staff were very friendly and we sat by the windows overlooking the Great Lake. I had a very delicious pizza and would recommend stopping here for a bite to eat. I would love to one day stay here during winter as well.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. We booked one of the little fishing cabins. While small, it was great value. Breakfast provisions were extensive, and staff had no problem restocking. There were electric blankets on the beds, which were comfy and a Dyson bladeless fan heater, which was all it took to heat the room. We had dinner at the restaurant, and it was fantastic. The lamb ribs were a stand out for both of us. Highly recommend this place as a stop over.

We have had two lovely meals here now and can't believe we used to drive past. Can recommended the chicken breast, the fish and chips and the husband says the apple pie is the best. Staff are efficient and friendly.

We stayed on a powered site with our camper for a night at the end of may. We called before arriving to make sure they had a site & the guy at the desk remembered my call which was nice. We had dinner in the hotel which was super tasty. I had veg pasta & my partner, a margarita pizza. Roaring fire & the sound of locals catching up after a long work week was great! Hot showers were very welcome after a couple of days & paid laundry facilities available aswell

We had decided to go somewhere in Tasmania for our 53d wedding anniversary a friend told me about the Great Lake Hotel at Miena. Arrived there at 1.15 pm greeted by James, some character, next James had us in the dining room, wine and lunch served, squid entrees, fish n chips main, (delight in every bite) booked in, then James took us to our room lovely King size bed wished it was 53 years ago with electric blankets, wouldn't have needed then, big tele, ensuite lovely and clean like brand new. All staff very friendly. Thanks also to Jason for the guided tour of the lakes.

Impeccable service down to the detail which included sourcing us some emergency eggs for our breakfast after we found the supermarket had sold out! The pub has a great selection of beers on tap (T-Bone a great choice) and the meals are fantastic. We've eaten here dozens of times and never been let down!

The rooms needed better heaters and needed heaters in the bedrooms. Otherwise a lovely clean, fresh and we'll stacked cabin with an awesome shower head.

We stayed at here for 2 nights and decided to try the restaurant for dinner, enjoyed it so much that we booked dinner for the next night as well! Everything here is in superlatives, the food and drink, the portions, the ambience, and particularly the staff. So glad we found a gastropub up here in the central highlands. You guys are legend! Particularly the two who served us on both occasions, a gentleman with a pony-tail and a tall blond lady (a shame I forgot to ask for your names), thanks heaps:). Almost forgot about the rooms, we stayed in the king ensuite which was recently renovated. While on the small side, it had everything we needed, including views to the lake. The beds were firm and comfortable, loved the overhead rain shower and touch-free bin. The included continental breakfast in the room was sufficient to get us and 2 young kids kickstart the day. The free wifi in the restaurant was invaluable as unsurprisingly we had no connection with Vodafone up here. On this point, it will be nice to extend the free wifi to all the rooms for more convenience. Overall, we certainly enjoyed our stay as well as eating here and will definitely return.
