Fern Tree Tavern reviews
70Such a great oasis on the mountain. Beautiful food, great beer and wine selection, and very comfortable vibe. Wish I had a pub like this as my local.
Good food, great location, friendly staff, family friendly too. Menu is typical solid satisfying pub fare, hits the spot!
The atmosphere was nice and warm they had open fireplaces to warm the hands after visiting mount Wellington and it was nice and quiet when we went. We also sat in front of a large window with our meal which had a somewhat nice view of the country side.
4/5 for atmosphere.
The service was friendly comming to our table to place an order and allowing us to share a main meal. Which was great for my wife and I who like to budget on the cheap side for holidays. 4/5
What really let us down was the food, we didn't know from the menu that all main meals come with salad. We spent extra money on a side salad we couldn't get through. We ordered a Moroccan lamb pie; which we've eaten authentic Moroccan dishes before so our expectations were perhaps a little high.
The pastry of the pie was fantastic wonderful texture, but the morrocan filling lacked some of the classic flavours and spices we were expecting from a Moroccan lamb pie. Perhaps the dish may need a re-naming? Besides the food not meeting expectations. It tasted great and the texture of the pastry and filling melted together. I recommend this dish just not as a Moroccan dish. 2/5

Great food, friendly staff, delicious pub grub plus cakes and coffee. Warm, cosy and a bit retro. Excellent pool table.
Horrible food. I don't know how you can manage to screw up pub food but anyway. Waitress was very rude, inadequate car parking. At least the air is fresh up there.
Lovely venue food is really good staff very helpful. As it was our choirs Christmas party we even had a sing. We will be coming back.
Way overpriced for what you got. Chips were disappointing. Service was average. Honestly, we could have achieved the same thing at home for 1/10th of the price.
Dropped into the Fern Tree Tavern after a nice walk on the mountain. Wasn't expecting a lot, but man was I impressed! Ordered the parmi and a wine. Wine was fantastic, parmi was even better. Not the cheapest, but great portion size, well dressed salad, good slaw and killer thick cut chips. 5/5 would recommended.
Lovely vibe about this place. Could easily pull up a chair, grab a book and a drink and never want to leave
Sensational food, a friendly atmosphere and beautiful surroundings, make the Fern Tree Tavern a must when visiting Hobart. Whether you've just completed a hike to the summit of Mount Wellington, or simply looking for somewhere to soak in the natural beauty of Tasmania, the Fern Tree Tavern offers quality pub food with huge servings at a great prices. We were lucky enough to be in Tasmania during the cooler months and were fortunate enough to be serenaded by snow flakes.
