Fern Tree Tavern reviews
70Ordered the 'Roast of the day' service was good, polite and friendly. The portion size of the meal was good however the meat was dry. I paid $30 for the roast and don't feel the quality of the meal was equal to the price.
Just had dinner there and very pleasantly surprised by the menu. Everything looked good and appealed to my taste buds. That's not something can normally say about a pub menu. I'd tell you all about it, but it is apparently changing next week. I would urge you to give it a try. I'll certainly be back to try the new menu.
Great spot to rest after a trek around Kunanyi. Warm up next to the fire with a hot chocolate or wine! Unfortunately we missed the lunch menu, but the all day toasties were good and filling.
Great food, lovely atmosphere. Friendly and attentive staff. Even though it was lousy weather the place was jumping, strongly recommend booking. Well worth the visit.
Great place to stop for a meal and a cider on the way down from Kunanyi/Mount Wellington, the Chicken, Leek, and Mushroom pie on split peas and mash was excellent.
If your walking down from Mt Wellington. Don't just hop in the bus or you car. Straight into here for a few sneaky pints. Warm, cosy and a great selection of local beers and wines. Lunch or dinner pub food. But friendly staff and a great atmosphere.
Cant say ill walk down again, but its worth driving back up for this place.
Cheers
Good food and drinks in front of a log fire. Great place to warm up after being blasted by winds in the snow on Mt Wellington
Quaint place. Nice fireplace outside. Free music some nights. Surprised that there wasn't any visible COVID tracing that I saw
Good venue in a bush setting. Pleasant dining both inside and outside. Friendly staff and several choices of food and beverages. Sunday afternoon BBQ and live music at 4.00pm.
I have made numerous visits for coffee etc and the experience is very good. Excellent after a walk in the mountain area.
Inviting and warm pub with fantastic owners and a real community feel, menu is diverse and always great!
I love the Fern Tree Tavern, it just feels like home. Open fires, food and beers etc. And simply a relaxed vibe. Worth staying a while
I, with the Hobart Trail Runners, did a Wednesday night run along the Pipeline Track at Fern Tree, then we came over to the Tavern for a beer, an interview with one of Australia's top trail runners and some dinner. The tavern is the BEST venue for a gathering like this. The guys are super friendly, they always make us feel like home, the atmosphere is your classic Australian pub, and the venue just drips with history. Anyone that gets anywhere near Fern Tree needs to have a beer and a meal at the Fern Tree Tavern.
A reimagination of pub grub.quirky decor and design (that mostly works). Good range of Tas wines beers and spirits
Friendly staff, delicious food, cosy ambience. I enjoyed meeting locals by the fire and had a lovely romantic night here.
Highly recommend this gorgeous haven on the kunanyi/Mt Wellington. We were lucky enough to spend two nights here in the super comfy accommodation above the pub. Beautiful space to relax in - great views and loved the bath!
The Tavern downstairs is super welcoming with absolutely delicious food and Tasmanian beers.
Fern Tree Tavern is the perfect base for exploring beautiful walking trails and bush or just kicking back by the fire, meeting locals and sampling tasty treats. Do yourself a favour and include a stop at Fern Tree Tavern in your next visit to Hobart.
I had their meatloaf sourdough toastie with vintage cheddar cheese and beetroot relish. Would go back again.
Friendly cafe/pub, with friendly staff - great location, where you can do a trek and then a lunch. Fireplace is very welcoming, and meal range is good.
Love this place, set amidst the bush and forest around Mt Kunyani (aka Mt Wellington). It is a relaxed atmosphere with some good dining and bar options.
The venue has not really been updated much in decades, so the 'old pub' is still there but currently overlayed with more of a community feel and modern approach.
This place can get busy around lunchtimes on weekends and parking in the area generally can get a little tight. Either way you should build in a stop here to relax and recharge on your visit to 'the Mountain' and the activities it offers.
