Bruny Island House of Whisky reviews
67Amazing selection and view…the staff member was a bit “fake nice” and second guessed my knowledge quite a lot. Actually quite annoying. Other people know stuff too, mate. Of course there is such a thing as a whisky sommelier.
Fantastic little spot for whiskey and gin lovers. A great selection, something for every taste and price point. The gentleman that served us was thoroughly knowledgeable and welcoming!
Great variety of Tasmanian Whisky, some unique brands. World-class, beautifully set on Bruny Island
Huge selection of local gin and whisky.
Had a gin testing was very good.
Looked at some of the bottles of whisky but they were "a bit out of my price range"
Super wonderful stop off, definitely worth a visit! Katherine is amazing, super friendly and helped us with amazing recommendations, would return solely for her service:)
Great view and setting, unfortunately the ambiance, experience and interaction wasn’t up to expectation.
If you are looking for tasting and walk through I’d recommend doing it back in Hobart.
Whiskey tasting was nice but didn't really hit the mark for me. I also thought the product was a little overpriced. I obviously was not the only one to think that as no one on our bus tour purchased any Whiskey.
Beautifully presented building and wares. Unfortunately I felt it lacked a welcoming atmosphere from the staff when we entered. There were only 2 other customers there. The young male attendant did not engage and explain the tasting process with us until we asked. There are costs involved with these tastings which is fine but they needed to be explained in the right manner. My husband did however pay for one tasting. I decided not to bother as I was put off by the attendants manner. Just bought the bottle I was interested in without tasting. Was not offered a tasting even when I was about to purchase. I am sure the Tasmanian (not Bruny Island) products are good. Sorry I won’t be rushing back.
Expensive with a cold reception. People in this industry should be welcoming with a good personality. Unfortunately this was not the case here.
Cool place with locally made spirits, some right on site! Friendly and helpful owner too. Got some great whisky, gin and rum.
Great tasting menu for gin and whisky! Very quiet backyard to chill. Also just a few minutes from the ferry.
Staff were rude and disinterested, and never seen such ridiculous prices just for a tasting ($75 for a tasting flight of 4 half shots, none of which is reimbursed if you purchase anything). Total rip off
The flight prices are exorbitant and to not to cancel any of it if you bought product was a bit weird. The staff member was indifferent if not surly, clearly didn’t want to be there. Probably won’t be back.
Stopped here after touring Bruny Island for the day and before traveling nav on the ferry to the Tasmanian mainland. Great atmosphere and good tearing and selection options.
Make this your last stop before you get back on the Bruny Island Ferry. You won’t regret it. Convivial atmosphere, astounding selection of whisky and gin. Turns out our bartender had done the label art for one of the whiskies we tried (and bought to take home). Prices are a little steep but we found that to be the case with local whisky at most places in Tasmania. It’s worth it.
Good spot to stop at on the way back to the ferry. A great range of whisky and gins. The guy that served us was knowledgeable and very helpful.
This was our first stop off the ferry and we loved it. The staff member who helped us was so knowledgeable and went out of her way to be helpful and accommodating and really took our visit from good to great; she was wonderful.
I tried a few different gins and they were all delicious. Our friends tried a flight of whisky and really loved everything they tried too. Definitely recommend stopping in on your way around the island.
The best place to try all the kinds of awesome whisky Tasmania has to offer.
If its distilled in tassie they will have it.
The gin tasting flight was not worth the $30. Far better gins and tastings offered elsewhere for far less.
