AURA Hobart

We had an amazing degustation dinner at Aura last night. The views were spectacular and the food and wine celebrated Tasmanian produce beautifully. I was really impressed with the wait-staff's knowledge of the wine list and recommendations. The chef's innovative touches such as the 'tomato snow' on the beef tartare and the strawberry granita on the oysters were delicious, new experiences for us all. The ambience and and the sound was great - we could hear everyone on the table of ten despite music and a busy restaurant. Definitely a must-do and one-of-a-kind venue in Hobart that is already humming along nicely even after just one month of being open. Highly recommend!

We Went to a private event here. It was an absolute shambles. We were shoved outside in the rain and waited almost 2 hours for the food which there was not enough of. The poor wait staff did what the could. Afterwards they put us in the public bar for dessert and as there wasn't enough seating those of us that were standing and had a drink were asked to discard it! Oh. There's more but seriously. I think for $4k up front we at least deserved the "Private venue" (preferably weather proof) that was originally booked and paid for. If you're booked in be warned!
