AURA Hobart reviews
62Excellent dining experience. Welcoming service and great atmosphere, food was also delicious! Definitely will be back: D
Less than expected! You have the best venue and you do this. Really, so underwhelming, I'm sure if you (the chef was paying the overheads it would be sooo different) please run it like it was yours!
On a freezing night outside you want a warm place to shelter from the elements - this is not it. Lights above us flickered, hot food comes out only warm because the kitchen is so far away (next to the toilets if you choose to hike their yourself).
Service was so so. Nothing wrong per say, but not a personal or 'happy to be there' attitude.
Had the lamb ribs - tasty, but very fatty (as warned). The gnocchetti was large, but overly salty, while the chicken ballotine was small, but actually quite flavoursome.
Having booked two weeks ago, we got there to be told we had 2hrs before the next sitting - immediately disparaged sitting in the cold restaurant.
Don't get me wrong, Aura has a beautiful view and certain ambience, but it's overly priced and trying to compete with the best, when it clearly isn't.
This place is a must for any stay in Hobart. The food and the service is exceptional. Menu is designed to share and there is really something for everyone. Quality wine list, topped by a great view of Hobart city.
Good fitout. Good food. Leigh was excellent. Bar needs to be better stocked. Overall more than 4 stars.
Rude and arrogant Bartender. (25/3)
It wasn't busy enough to warrant waiting at the bar for 30 mins to order a couple of cocktails. We weren't even acknowledged whilst waiting at the bar, right in front of him for the first 10 minutes.
Issue 1: Rudely told in a condescending tone that cash payments were not accepted (no big issue, but improve your delivery). Issue 2: One of our drinks was not available and when asked if there was a similar alternative, his unhelpful response was "no, it is what it is" as he turned away and proceeded to serve another customer, right in the middle of our order.
We were ignored once again following this and had to rely on another staff member for his attention so that we could complete our order.
Aura has the potential to be a fantastic venue, but on this occasion was let down by the poor attitude of one employee with his own grandiose delusions. Multiple reviews here appear to reference the same individual, indicating an ongoing failure of management.
Such a shame.
What an incredible dining experience! Wonderful service and atmosphere and I definitely recommend the "let us choose for you" menu, which has an exceptional array of delicious food.
Dining room and food was good but was told on ordering dessert at 10.00pm that the coffee machine "had been cleaned and turned off" so only tea was available. Quite shocked, especially after spending more than $700 on dinner. Bad end to what was an otherwise nice night.
Absolutely loved my dining experience here, in fact the whole experience! The venue was welcoming & comfortable. The Food and Drinks were to die for! And the Service was second to none. I will definitely be back next time I'm visiting Hobart, and I will definitely recommend to everyone
The cocktails were fairly average. There service and the food was pretty good. And the views were amazing.
Beautiful views, cocktail menu was disappointing. James at the bar was entertaining and pretty passionate about what he does!
Food was great, service was excellent (especially our host, Bonnie).
The bar/restaurant has a great feel and theme, however I would’ve thought prices would preclude parents from bringing noisy children to the venue which takes away from the otherwise enjoyable experience.
Thankyou to Bonnie for making our night very special! Excellent and genuine service, top show! Also, the food was pretty dang good too!
One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Contemporary European cuisine, a stylish cocktail and wine list and.views that leave you me mesmerised.
Make sure you book well in advance even on a weeknight, they are always busy.
Not a great evening, I’m afraid. A couple of bar staff pretty rude: expensive drinks served poorly. Our group left thinking we should be somewhere else.
Flawless. The best dinner I’ve ever had. Great service, terrific view and the most amazing food and wine.
Love. Love. Love. Cheese board and meat board was out of this world! Tried to share both between two people - way to much food. Who can possibly choose between the two? Would love to see a two person option for both: D
Surly barman. Looked like he hated being in the place, served awkwardly and was lippy around an inconvenient handing over a drink not presented on a tray. The stuff he’s paid to do professionally. Would expect better. Location in Hobart is wonderful. Would like to see service reflect the venue.
Great views but the Cocktail list left me cold and they were quite tasteless. List is also small and unadventurous. Albacore tuna was delightful.
We had a lovely experience at Aura this evening! Wonderful setting and decor, friendly and attentive staff and delicious food. We will definitely be back!
