Aspect Tamar Valley Resort reviews
80Paid 200 a night for a wooden cabin.with no hot water however charges $20 on check out to do dishes. The only reason for the two stars is one for the amazing lake and the other for the comfy bed.
Accomodation was basic in quality but the resort and the suburb of Grindelwald was simply awesome. The vision of one man to bring it together. Where else can you experience a suburb constructed 100% in the style of a certain Swiss style based on a favourite destination of Roelf Vos. Remarkable really.
Booked at the last minute. Wish I could have stayed longer. Nice rooms, spose the sink could be a bit bigger, but really comfy rooms. Dinner was great and the staff were very helpful.lovely surroundings and wildlife everywhere.
Very pleasant stay, would've been better if bed was Queen as the room was advertised, not two single pushed together (leaves a very uncomfortable ridge in the middle).
Good amenities, including pool, spa and sauna, pool was a great temp even for the colder autumn months. Friendly staff at reception, good room size, in room spa was good, nice balcony as well.
Also located a short drive from a Woolworths which was convenient, and not too far from Launceston. Great location in all.
Unfortunately our recent stay (March 2019) was not what we expected or planned. This was somewhere I was excited to stay on the trip I had planned for our family around Tasmania, the kick off and from check in to check out it was disappointment after disappointment.
Check in was a nightmare, only 1 poor staff member clearly handling several check ins- they were obviously busy as there was a function/ wedding /event happening and the lady was on her own dealing with 4 check ins and we had to wait about 20-30 minutes with a tired toddler and my 87 year old grandmother with only 2 seats in reception to sit on.
Despite explain to the young lady when we finally did get check in that we thought out room was not correct (as I had booked a central room not a chalet) we were dismissed, given no real introduction she was clearly overwhelmed and tired.
Our room was neat and tidy, very tired and dated, clean but not what we had booked. The rickety steps made you feel that every time you walked up them and across the verandah that you were going to fall through the boards. My husband noticed one of the steps had no counter weight and advised us to walk on the left-hand side.
Rooms were nice, beds were fine, it was all ok. It all felt dated and rather than repeat myself all the facilities were broken, had parts missing, badly in need of maintenance and run down. Be it the children park (flying fox missing, broken boards, broken chain on swing) pirate ship had boards broken, rubbish everywhere, not really child safe/friendly, the “swish village” was all closed and run down, if you’re catering to guests then they need to be open for breakfast (what bakery is not open first thing) and very expensive for what it was.
When we raised the issue of our accommodation it was made out that we had been “upgraded” to the chalet as it would cost more for 4 people that what the room we had booked was (photos online made the room we had booked look much nicer, it had a walk in shower (so Gran didnt have to try to get in and out of a bath) which is why I didn’t book the chalet plus it was so much further away and I didn’t want my Gran walking long distances). Supposedly it was being renovated but I do believe as there was a wedding/ conference on they had bumped us. Even so, why were we not told before we arrived or told at check in.again very dismissed and average service.
Dinner was average but there was some wonderful wait staff and servers, but the food was overpriced for what can be described as counter meal. As we were given a credit on our food it made it a bit easier to swallow the quality vs price. Sorry very disappointed – especially when ordering steak medium rare, one came out well medium to well one the other medium but more well-done side. We didn’t bother to send back.overall it was a let down and we would have rather spent the time driving back into Launceston and stayed there. Plans to play mini golf, go in in the pool walk around the “village” all disappeared when you felt you had arrived in a depressing, bleak atmosphere (like a poor version of the horrible village Vulgaria in Chitty Bang Bang which is in Germany so next to Switzerland)
I’m sorry but our stay was less than average, food and accommodation, the experience bitterly disappointing but the customer service only impacted the experience. Yes we were “credited” but it wasn’t about money it was the fact that the start of our trip was lacking when they had been so much promise, its not really an apology when you don’t mean it so we just took it to be a place to sleep and leave as soon as we could get back on the road. So much potential but would not bother to put on your to do list sorry Grindelwald.
Awesome place to stay plenty to do within the resort it self.
We stayed ia a cabin and it was unreal, fully self contained, tv in each room, ect.
Highly recomended
Fantastic encironment. Walibies. Turbo hooks ducks seans. Cabins om the water and golf course. A very romantic setting.
Seriously one of the strangest places I've visited in Australia. It's a miss match of so many different elements
Located just outside Launceston. Nice comfortable and spacious chalets. Beautiful and quiet surroundings. Can do light cooking in chalet - plates, utensils, forks and spoonss provided. Can park next to chalet. Nice on-site lookout. Easy and quick check-in and check-out. Our unit can easily accommodate 5 pax. Playground available
The fan in our room didn't work, fridge not cold, tap needed repair (which I did), sliding door lock broken. I emailed the resort when I got home but they didn't bother to reply. Very disappointed.
Enjoyable, has all of Casuarina plus a little more shopping wise. Best part is proximity to the pub.
Stayed 3 nights in a reasonably priced lakeside spa cabin. Roomy and comfortable. Paddy melons and a big variety of water birds all around added to the tranquility. The restaurant food and service was good and friendly. Would like to stay there again if we are in the area.
Visited the Swiss village. Cute little place for families. Parents can have a coffee while the kids have various activities to keep them interested. Prices were reasonable.
Great value accommodation, very friendly staff. Good family stay, kids had fun. Restaurant served good basic meals.
Cute little shopping precinct. We didn't stay at the resort but we went to visit the Swiss inspired village. Good place to take the kids to play putt putt or for older kids to let them use a pedal boats out on the little dam. Very family friendly. But not very big.
The resort is comfortable. It is suitable to stay at least two night to enjoy the faciliate as well as the restful environment.
Amazing place. Takes you to a completely different world. Accommodation prices are on the high end. But worth it! But poor with the mobile reception.
It’s an amazing retreat and a good getaway from the busy city life. The weather is great, there’s green everywhere and if you love animals, this is perfect for you. I recommend this as your go-to if you’re anywhere near Launceston, Tasmania.
This isn't 4 stars! It may have been cute back in the day but it is looking tired now (both the inside of our "chalet" and the common areas). That said, the kids love it and the bouncing air pillow keeps them entertained.
Really beautiful place for a stay near launceston. Room was really big and the view was decent too. Lots of facilities inside the resort as well as some shopping inside. Place was a bit old resulting in the room having some old furnitures but it was really big. The down side is wifi is only available in certain rooms and parking is not directly beside/down your rooms. Oh and the road that leads to this place has lots of wild wallabies, so be careful at night.
