Aspect Tamar Valley Resort reviews
80 We had a nice stay, a few little things that make it clear that it's not a particularly cared for facility- certainly not updated.
The rooms had a few issues; the bath was dirty on arrival, the shower was over the high spa bath with no safety handle or anything (not safe for my pregnant wife), the beds were very noisy when you sat on them, the kitchen handle was not attached to the sink and was hard to use, and the wifi didn't actually reach the room.
The activities were quite expensive for what you get ($18 for bucket of balls for splash golf, $17 for 30 minutes on the buggy). Probably fine value if you add it to your booking as a package.
The food at the bistro was good, and the cafe staff were lovely.
In urgent need of an upgrade
Room a dated (cabins) ants got to our food, sitting area very small, sliding door runners need replacing as run very rough
Our Cabin didn’t have room for a table and a couple of chairs had to sit on the balcony to eat breakfast
Activities are expensive if you have children like the pedal bicycles, put put golf for a family is over the top and you are asked to pay for watching your grandchildren play $5.00 dollars to walk around and watch
Bathrooms are small
Compared to many other places we have stayed in Australia and overseas this should be a 2.5 star motel
Our cabin was a lake view supposedly but was not
Only positive was our meal in the restaurant which was quiet nice service was good and staff were very pleasant
Great place to stay. Cabins well appointed, clean and private.
All the trimmings, microwave, etc.
Buffet breakfast plentiful.
Would stay there again.
Very tired, obviously fallen behind with maintenance & in need of lots of TLC. This was once an icon of the Tamar valley region - not anymore! Sadly.
Stayed for an extended period July/August 23 awaiting the safe arrival of our beautiful new baby grandson. We were extremely comfortable in our clean, quiet room, the pool/spa was very relaxing. Breakfast was lovely and also the bistro meals too. To top it off all of the staff were an absolute pleasure to deal with. Thank's especially to Nicola and Damien. Yvonne and Mark King.
Loved staying in the village apartment, highly recommend if you have kids. Lots of room for everyone.
Excellent service in restaurant. Rooms are dated but clean. Need to revisit fluffy blankets on beds.
Very nice staff, free upgrade to a lakeside room for our anniversary with chocolate and sparkling to celebrate.
Had a great night here with the fam. Awesome facilities with room service aswell which was awesome not having to drag the kids to yet another restaurant on our holiday. Kids loved the pedal boats and seeing all the native hens, rabbits and birds outside their window.
Very beautiful little place with scene for best pictures to start your day. A must visit if you plan to come to Tasmania.
Cute little village, ate at the restaurant and wasn’t impressed. Chicken Parma was so dry and almost inedible! Pizza’s were soggy and undercooked!
The village itself is great with a little arcade, Lolly shop, ice cream, mini golf, paddle boats and pedal cars…. Just avoid the bistro, maybe try the bakery!
Happy New! Year! To all the team at Grindelwald. Thanks for making my Christmas with my Friend most m memorable! The Christmas spread at Alpenrose was outstanding! The bed was so soft and Comfy! The lake view from our room was so tranquil. Thank you Nicola for your Lovely hospitality on arrival, and shifting a few dates around that I had to change and how you handled my booking? Applying your manageress discount to our stay Very Best Wishes to you in this New Year.
Stayed here as an attendee at the Special Olympics National Games in Launceston. Cannot praise the staff enough for the kindness and care they gave shown team support and the athletes. Beautiful location, very quiet and tranquil️
It's a joke they charge anybody to play on the golf course. Worst condition you'll ever see. Don't waste your money
The service was excellent however the pizza that I had wasn't that nice as would of preferred the normal sauce rather than the sugo base which I didn't like and didn't have any options to choose for the sauce for the base sauce and there wasn't much else on the menu that I would or could of had with my allergies or medical condition with my throat. The waitress was excellent didn't get her name but she waited to collect our plates until everyone had finished eating as all waitstaff should do at all restaurants and eateries. The waitress that took the orders for table 54 should be seriously considered for management and train others how she does as that is decent and proper edicate for dinning when clearing plates.
Thanks for reading my review stay safe and stay well.
My accommodation was a villa in the 500 group down the bottom. Please don't let the name confuse you, these really are just basic cabins. The cabins circulate a grass oval but some are lakeside
Inside, something akin to a caravan, the door opens to a double bed, bathroom to the side, sofa opposite a kitchenette and a second room containing another double bed with space for a lounge chair and small closet.
Windows along this bedroom consist of along the wall and sliding door to a Juliette balcony shared by the kitchenette/sofa, which also has sliding door access.
Kitchenette has microwave (not necessarily on all cabins), kettle, toaster. A phone for ordering from service or making any on site inquiries/bookings. Crockery for 4 is clean and just what you need for no fuss catering.
There is a barbeque on site, basketball court, tennis court, paddle boats and kayaks on the lake for 30 min hire. Also swimming, mini golf, golf and buggy hire. Don't forget Tamarhorn which is a steep corkscrew hill with amazing views.
The swiss chalets are really where the family or group abomination sings. It's been many years since I've stayed in them though so I won't mention them more other than to say they are pretty to look at and are all named. There is also hotel room accommodation with more generous size beds, (I was told king).
If you do stay here make sure you take a slow drive around Alpine Crescent and visit Grindelwald chapel and walk the lake.
Alpine chalet is nice, cozy. By no means is it luxury accomodation, but instead more like a fancy hotel cabin. No room service and next to no wifi or mobile reception. Staff at the restaurant and cafe seemed to be very flustered and rarely polite. Great little family stay, and beautiful little village otherwise
The chalets were warm and comfortable although a little " tired". Still a good place to stay with family, having the pool and spa, pirate ship, bouncing pillow and putt putt golf, a whole days fun.
Lovely stay during the day, when it comes to night time there’s absolutely nothing to do for younger adults like myself and my partner who stayed recently. The outside of the hotel looks very promising but it’s not. Heating was lovely, wi-fi needs a upgrade. King bed was rather hard, didn’t get much sleep. Facilities were tired, the whole place needs a desperate makeover. Pool felt very cold for 29 degrees, not very many movies or tv shows to watch, food wasn’t very good, too pricey for what we ate. As far as cleanliness goes, room was quite disgusting. Bathroom bench and fan were covered with dust, made my allergies kick up within 2 hours of being in the room. Paint was chipping off the walls and floors, black finger print markings on the living room walls, red substance on one of the drawers that looked and smelt like blood when wiped off, found someone else’s hair on the spare blanket in the cupboard. Will not be returning to stay in future unless an upgrade is done. Far too pricey for what I paid for one night. Please read the other reviews before staying here! Leaving this review on a positive note, the staff were lovely.
Fantastic place for children with mini golf, go karts, pirate playground, bouncing pillow, swimming pool, paddle boats.
Bed were comfortable, the shower was good strength/not a water saving head which is always nice for a vacation! Hallways/various areas around the accommodation need updating e.g. Hallway carpets. Daily room cleaning/towels/bed making etc, the cleaning lady was lovely. Sanitising stations around the place (bistro, front door etc) all empty which was frustrating. $25 adult for the buffet breakfast wasn't worth it for us. One child with dairy allergies so not much other than plain cereal/toast. No milk alternative provided. The lunch and dinner menu were quite basic so we ended up eating elsewhere. The bistro staff were very friendly and kind. Laundry facilities are on site but you need eight $1 coins to wash & dry. No ATM on site & no payment option at reception to get coins. By the time you find a place to get cash out, you may as well go to the local laundromats with paywave facilities. Pool was very nice and warm for our stay.
Unfortunately for me, the worst part was the unfriendly reception staff. Upon arrival we walked in and she stared at us waiting to talk. No welcome, or hello! & It never got better over our stay.
It's a nice place to stay if you want plenty of things for the children to do. If I could go back in time, I'd stay closer to the city & visit Grindelwald for the day.
