Incredible service and attendance by both doctors and nurses. Can not thank you all enough for looking after our little princess. Your compassion, kindness and attention to detail is impeccable and thorough. We are so very grateful to have wonderful health care services in SA. Keep up the great work and once again a massive Thank you

The emergency ward is a joke. You have to wait for 3hrs until a doctor checks you multiple times and yet unsure of what has happened. And calls you for a visit another time.

Being chronically ill, I have spent over 9 weeks in hospital the past 3 months under the gastro team. Dr Megan Ball and the other fellow that she is often with are amazing drs. My consultant dr is private so I wont mention him. Every stay is quite traumatic in terms of the adolescent ward nurses. In particular nurse Kate is cruel and some of the others. Some of the adolescent nurses are the sweetest people, but some are cruel and forget that we are just children. The friends you make however are great. The bay (4 bed ward) is horrific. We are all 12-18 and not allowed any privacy at all. If we want to change, you would have to let the nurse watch you, I wasent allowed to close my curtains etc etc and having someone watch you 24/7 is horrid (espeically if the nurse isnt nice, which they often werent in the bay). The nurses that werent in the bay were usally quite sweet and nice. There is one nurse, fillipano (or similar), quite young and she is the loviest person ever. In general the adolcent ward isnt the best

I had an amazing experience at the hospital for my first pregnancy. I was high risk and was seen regularly by the highly experienced team at maternal fetal medicine. The midwives/nurses on the antenatal & gynaecology ward were caring, compassionate and went out of their way to make things easier for me and my husband. The staff at the special care baby unit (SCBU) were also great with advice and so considerate during a difficult time. They work such long hours but always took fantastic care of our baby and always took the time to reassure us. Our c-section was such a positive experience with theatre staff too. I think people complain because unfortunately as with every hospital in SA, they are under staffed but every staff member I encountered was absolutely wonderful and they deserve more than these reviews from people who don’t understand how much pressure staff are under on 12 hour shifts. They all deserve pay rises, more breaks and more considerate patients!

Will give it a 11 on 10! Everything from start to finish was great. Midwives and doctors definitely one of the best you can get. Baby was born in April and the whole process at WCH turned out really well. Highly recommend.

Ive only been once in my life when I was a teenager to visit my dear G'mother when she had breast cancer but I have no complaints and no praise, it was a typical hospital but probably a lil bit better than the average public hospital we see these day's

Emergency is 5 hours waiting!
Seriously, is this an emergency department?
Not happy at all with waiting of the doctor to come to visit the patient.

I had a 4 day admission due to bleeding during pregnancy and from my initial contact with women's assessment unit to my time on the A & G and delivery wards I could not have been treated better by all the staff.

Our child has been and is part of the craniofacial program at WCH since birth. When he was born, we felt lucky and privileged to live in this state with a program the quality of the WCH Craniofacial available to us. How times change. We felt like our son was cared for, like they actually cared as if they were family such was the organization of the program, to do what needed to be done to give my son a reasonably normal life. But whats left? The program has and is being eviscerated. I cannot even get a answer to a call, or a return call. Resources have disappeared children like my child and others NEED. I feel for the staff, i really do, having come from what was to what is, having to try and keep a face for the public while they deal with cuts. It's fun to distract ourselves with talk of a new building, but whats the point when the quality of care has degraded so much. A fancy building does NOT make a good hospital. People do. Is anyone proud to work there any more? Fix this.

My 4 year old daughter was taken to the emergency after she inserted a bead into her nose while playing and started to bleed profusely.

We called up the emergency to start with who informed us they would dispatch an ambulance. A parademic arrived after half an hour, but was unable to handle the situation and told us an ambulance was on it's way. After waiting for long and many calls, he said they were busy and to drive her to the W&C hospital emergency. At the emergency, we had to wait 3 hours before we could see a doctor. During this time my daughter was not even allowed to drink water as a precautionary protocol and she was extremely tired and thirsty. The doctor was quite professional and took the bead out in less than 5 minutes.

An almost 5 hours of mental and physical stress that just required less than 5 min to resolve. We reached home at 4am finally. The Dr was quite surprised the paramedic was unable to do this in the first place at home.

Although I'm glad it's over, I truly hope the govt looks into this as I understand this is something that many people go through with terrible long waiting hours at the emergency. I totally agree to prioritising patients on the basis of severity of the issue, but this kind of an experience is agonizing and totally disturbing.

Although the staff and employees are friendly, the length of time it takes to complete your visit is concerning. People who arrived after me were called up before me even though I had an appointment at 3: 15. It's been much too long and I’ve gotten hungry.

I had to make a visit to women's assessment and everyone who helped me (receptionists, midwives, obstetrician and sonographer) were nothing but caring, friendly and professional. I only had to wait 2hrs. I was very pleasantly surprised!

I would just like to tell all those people who are whinging about how long they must wait to see a doctor.make your complaints to the federal government!
The Morrison government has made massive cuts to the health system and because of this, most hospitals are drastically understaffed and overworked hospital staff are being badly treated and blamed as if it's their fault. I have nothing but admiration and support for these exausted, overworked nurses, doctors and all hospital workers. Go and do their job for a week and see how long you would last.

Thank you to all the team that looked after my daughter. Dr Allcock whom operated on her yesterday, the nurse Bennett in the Kate Hill Ward whom was positive and helpful through out her stay and Erica the physio.
Everyone we came accross was really helpful and friendly, right down to 2 different staff that pointed us in the right direction to get out and helped to get us in the slowest lift in the state.

We arrived via ambulance after my daughter had a seizure. After more than two hours of waiting we left without seeing a doctor. No staff issued any explanations for the delay. Not happy.

I would've given you 0 stars because of the extremely long wait you put my sister through (she waited 40 mins for the midwife due to an emergency which the receptionist had to come and help her and my niece). No use using the buzz when you have to wait for 40 minutes. SMH.

I’m a teen and I got my tonsils out late last year, the nurses were very kind and helped me understand the surgery which really helped with my anxiety. The surgery went well and the spaghetti and meatballs that I had for dinner was amazing and the jelly and ice-cream helped calm my sore throat. Even with all these great things you can’t expect the hospital visit to be perfect, my mum and I got there at 2PM which was an hour early for my surgery so we could have time. Even with that extra hour we still had to wait for 5 hours before my surgery, my mum didn’t get to have any dinner for herself because of this and it was all because I was older and they wanted to get all the little kids done first even ones that arrived way after us. I understand their reasoning but come on, 5 hours I spent sitting in a hospital gown feeling really uncomfortable and just wanting to go home.

Thank you for safely delivering both of my children and for saving my son's life when we brought him to the emergency department.

I often see bad reviews for hospitals and the like, people who are angry are quick to write a scathing post.but I think so often people like me don't speak up to say thank you for your fantastic care and effort when we should.
