I told them I suddenly woke up and couldn’t hear but wasn’t taken seriously. If sudden hearing loss isn’t treated within the first 48 hours you will be permanently deaf. Doctor just brushed it off and sent me home when I should’ve been seeing an ENT. I’ll never be able to hear again because of their ineptness.

I've had to take my boy here many times over the last 7 years and have been helped out each time according to his level of need.
Considering it's a free public service (paid by our tax $) and the emergency department runs on a needs based system, it's a bit hard to understand how some people carry on about waiting hours for something basic, when if you had seen how good they are with normal people who's womens and kids really need emergency treatment and life threatening problems they might have a more realistic view.
Lucky for them they don't have that experience.
Keep doing a good job and thanks for helping my family.

We went with our 3-year-old boy for an emergency, he did not breathe well and was attended to immediately, The nurses and doctor had lovely attitudes, and our son's treatment was monitored all the time. In addition, clean place, with adorable decorations. Thanks for your services.

Thank you to the amazing team in ER & on the Kate Hill Ward. We are so grateful to the care given to our son & us after he fractured his femur on Friday.
The staff were so kind and supportive throughout the whole process.
Couldn’t have wished for a better team looking after us.

One of the worst places to take your partner for help, it’s a hospital for women and children but were treated terribly and left in a room and forgotten about. My partner was in extreme pain for the 2 hours we were in the waiting room and then for the next 3 hours in another waiting room at 3am in the morning. Will never recommend this place for anyone.

Very long waiting period in the women assessment department without any care. No sure how they call it emergency there while there is no sense of urgency. Waiting period to see the doctor for more than 6hrs.
Even they don’t care and are Ok if we go home without any treatment.
Shocking hospital!

Im very very angry at women's and children's hospital staff on medical short stay ward for losing my sons absolute favourite special teddy bear that he needs every night to sleep. The nurses changed my sons bedding and the have got his teddy in stuck amongst that bedding.

Very long waiting period in the women assessment department without any care. No sure how they call it emergency there while there is no sense of urgency. Waiting period to see the doctor for more than 6hrs though the continuous bleeding.
Even they don’t care and are Ok if we go home without any treatment.
Shocking hospital!

I had to come in to the WCH on the 29th of December with my son Rupert who tripped and fell and hit his head, eye and split his eyelid / eyebrow and it needed to be glued. Everyone was great from the front desk to the RN, Nurse Prac and Consultant. All up we were there for 5 or 6 hours but that’s to be expected with the current hospital resources and number of patients and the severity of my son’s injury compared to others. 5 or 6 hours isn’t great but can’t be improved unless there was a bigger department with more doctors and nurses. Thanks for your help and Rupert is healing well.

It is been 3 hrs waiting for an appointment for my baby and I am still waiting. My appointment was at 1pm and it is now 4pm nothing so far. My baby is really tired and angry. I don’t know how lazy they can be! Everyone is coming and going and us waiting no clue what to do next or will we be seen today or not. I just drove 3 hours down to adelaide and I am driving back 3hrs to go home. Worst experience ever.

Recently had my baby at W&C. And i must say i was blown away with the support and services offered to mums and families. The food was great too, the dr's were lovely. Midwives and nurses are the best, so helpful and so understanding of your needs. Physio is offered as a service after you give birth, highly recommend taking this up. Thank you so much W&C staff, you rock.

The main problem is not what they do there but how they do it. Nursing staff and admin presume they have knowledge and know what’s best but know less than the kids they are suppose to be treating. Would be better if the doctors ran the place and the other staff stop presuming they know medicine when they clearly do not.

WCH is a genuine and a wonderful hospital. Just want to take the time and appreciate all of the doctors, specialists, nurses, midwife’s, medical workers, cleaners and many more of the wonderful workers that make it special for children and women.such a lovely environment!

The system/admin side is so poor and outdated. However, that is in no fault of the staff, as they can only work with what they have. A massive, big thank you to the amazing Midwives, Maddi, Anne, and Ella who were there supporting us through the birth of our son recently. It was disappointing to witness a doctor having a go at a Midwife for taking their allocated break. It is evidential that the Midwives/Nurses are at the bottom of the pecking order here, which is sad. As it is them that are there for patients and their families from start, through to birth, the afterwards and further follow ups. They are the primary care providers for patients and their families. I only hope the hospital ensures they are being made to feel value and respected by all staff members at the hospital. Despite how high their title might be above others. Again, a huge thank you to you wonderful ladies for being there through a difficult birth. It was your kindness, professionalism, and warmth that got us through it.

Sokra, Troy and Augie.

P.s: Also, my Manager recently messaged me if I have received my gift that the business sent to the hospital, sadly we checked out early and was not informed by the hospital (not that I imagine you guys have time for it) : P

Another edit! My baby’s been admitted to another hospital with a feeding tube now because we were told everything is ok and he has just been getting worse. Get a lawyer because I know I am. Not happy….
Edit- I’ve tried calling every day and left multiple messages with no reply. I have taken it further.
Took my son to the emergency department as he was struggling to breathe waited quite a few hours in the waiting room. We were then taken back where we waited a further 13 hours just to be told that he was okay and there was nothing wrong I got a text message today stating that he has Rhinovirus and he has been so unwell I was told that it was his adenoids and swollen tonsils and then his x-rays were clear yet there was phlegm on the x-ray. The doctor kept asking me what things are called because she could not figure it out if you can’t tell me what song with you have to repeatedly asked me what do you call this what people that you shouldn’t be a doctor. We had a couple of lovely nurses but in general the whole experience was absolutely disgusting my baby is still very unwell and nothing has been done about it because no Doctor Who even look at him because everyone’s too busy worrying about Covid

Disgusting and annoying service and no word called "Emergency" but they have an emergency department, for which a patient should atleast spend 4-5 hours for the doctors visit. Nurses give a terrible look when requested for doctor.anyone will lose patience and not sure how many lost lives.horrible experience.

Overall experience so far is quite poor, as we sit again in ED for the 3rd time in 5 weeks

My son hurt his ankle and his mum brought him to hospital initially with the advice that he had soft tissue injury (x-ray showed now break) and he left with crutches and prognosis of full recovery in 3-4 days.

A week later I brought him back to ED as he continued to experience extreme pain and significant swelling. Nursing staff were excellent but the doctor approached us like we shouldn't be here.
X-ray again completed and no break.
Told to go home and ring Orthopedics on Monday (it was Friday on this presentation)

His mum rang orthopedics as advised and they knew nothing of my sons presentation nor that he needed to be seen

After several unsuccessful attempts to get follow up I lodged a complaint and after being put through to a doctor we had an appointment

Appointment result was no scans of any type taken but moonboot and come back in 4 weeks.if still painful they would do MRI.

Weeks later no appointment time communicated and I begin to ring to find out why / get an appointment

After approximately 6-8 calls (one being on hold over half hour) and not even speaking to anyone I lodge another complaint

I simply want to know if an appointment hS been made and when as the 4 weeks is soon up.

About 5 days later I receive a voicemail that an appointment has been made but it's nearly 2 weeks away still.

He is still in pain and has swelling weeks later so I try to call orthopedic and no answer again

I Lodge another complaint as there is total lack of communication and my son still needs a proper diagnosis.

Lady taking complaint was lovely but begrudgingly has to tell me that we need to re-present at ED and ask for orthopedic review as this is the process.

So doctor at ED on 2nd visit says go to orthos and now orthos say go back to ED.

Very frustrated at this absolute s.t show
