The Salopian Inn

We were told to come here for a gin. Then a cellar door owner (also a chef) recommended the food. We looked it up and we were intrigued, so I booked a late lunch. From the moment we walked into a bustling dining room/bar, the wait staff were friendly and attentive, even working at top speed with what seemed to be a full house.
We debated the dishes, as they all looked amazing. We decided to go for the $90pp feed me, which is a bit of a luxury treat for lunch, and not something we'd regularly do. It didn't disappoint at all. In fact, the 7 course degustation was incredible.

The combination of a *fabulous* wine list, friendly wait staff, and gorgeous dining room certainly added to the experience, but this kitchen know how to wow their diners. It's too hard to pick the best dish, as they were all so good, but massive shout out to the dumplings and the parmesan tapioca bites. I'm inclined to get an airfare just to come back for them. And that's not mentioning that we have a dietary requirement and they seamlessly worked around it. Thank you for such a great experience.

I've known about this place for years and had the privilege of eating there recently such welcoming staff great atmosphere and a well balanced menu we will be back highly recommend

The highlight meal of our wine trip so far.after a morning of wine tasting we stopped in and had an exceptional lunch of pithivier chicken, cavatelli with beef ragu, fresh salad and kipfler potatoes.what a lovely lovely tasty surprise. Def be back every opportunity we have.

Great place to eat. Food outstanding as was the service. Lovely wine cellar downstairs. Sour dough bread was delicious as was the roo skewer and mullet. Absolutely divine place.

We were a group of 6 who dined here on Saturday night having the feed me menu. The service was very good as was the starters but we were quite disappointed with the quality of the main dishes. The pork was tough and the non meat eaters pasta was chewy and lukewarm. We were very much looking forward to our meal here but not sure we would ever return.

Food more art than food. Food served cool, cold before able to start eating. Coffee served tepid, Very poor value.
Excellent, spirited service let down really badly by the low quality low quantity food.

Love their wine list. It’s really diverse. Service and foods are amazing. Would definitely wanna come back for another time.

Had an amazing lunch with 10 friends. All five courses were amazing. Didn’t think each one could surpass the one before but they did.
Great service from Oliver who picked our wine and our groups allergy issues were handled brilliantly.

The 'feed me' option was a wonderful way to experience what this restaurant has on offer. Every course was delightful. The courses were beautifully paced. The staff are wonderful. Couldn't have asked for anything more.

Great food, huge choice. Huge variety of wine and the best staff. Table service was second to none. Just loved it!

A most memorable meal here, featuring Red Braised Kangaroo Tail, Charcoal Grilled Line Caught Calamari, Steamed Buns (Roast Pumpkin and Berkshire Pork), Salopain Uttapam, Grass Fed Beef Pie, and Grass Fed Sirloin Steak. All boasting amazing flavours. And guess what's the best part? Desserts, of course. The lovely staff let me start off my meal with super tasty Ice Cream Sandwich and Sticky Toffee Pudding - incredibly flavourful and wonderfully executed. A cosy and casual place that is a must visit.

Today we had the most amazing culinary experience at The Salopian Inn. Totally sensational. One vegan (moi) and three omnivores. The attention to detail for yours truly was just out of this world. I doubt vegans would get a better eating experience anywhere! (The omnivores were rapt as well). Staff amazing - cant stop raving!

What fantastic service and atmosphere. The food was so beautiful and plentiful. What a lovely way to enjoy a Sunday afternoon and the cellar was a fun way to choose your wine This is a must when visiting Mclaren Vale.

Loved it great food and friendly fun service. Wine selection is amazing. Lovely place to go on a cold winters afternoon as very cozy and I can imagine stunning in the summer with great views.

Lovely cosy atmosphere, excellent service. Fabulous margarita.

We ordered steak, gnocci, pie, greens, potatoes, chips, broccolini, desserts.

According to my son and husband the steak was perfection!

My gnocci was equally delicious - mushroom sauces can be hit and miss, but this was tasty.

The pie filling was tasty, but unfortunately the pastry was heavy and not great at all. My husband had to rush off to the toilet! Not a great sign.

I probably should have checked the menu before booking - no children's menu
Even more challenging was my little vegetarian was pretty much left with chips and plain greens. I'll know to leave the kids home in future.

Would have been 5 stars except for the meat pie debacle. Still would recommend for date night.

I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting the area. The staff were also very welcoming and accommodating.
