Maxwell Wines

We used to go to Maxwell's as a family and couple before covid. Now we will not be going or supporting this winery due to their choice to discriminate. Purely on Vax status, I find this discusting and uncalled-for. It shouldn't be like this, and they will not have our support.

Went to Maxwell Winery for tasting today with canapés. Wine and canapés were excellent as usual but the outstanding feature was the excellent service and warm welcome provided by the staff in particular Sean. Thank you for looking after us so well.

Visited Maxwell winery for a mead tasting. A unique experience with quality products - worth the visit

If I could give it less stars I would. Requested to try a wine prior to purchasing and they refused to open a bottle despite multiple people in the room doing tastings.
While we were waiting for a new mask as one of mask straps had snapped, we were given a very rude and degrading speech by an older staff member as if it was our intention to not wear a mask. I have never been spoken to so horribly in my life and based on this disgusting customer service I will not be returning or even recommending. Given the numerous poor customer service reviews I have read from this place.it seems they have some serious things to work on!

I was impressed by the design of the interior, the cleanliness, the glassware, the natural light that flooded the main area, and the level of service. The wine was sensational. Well done!

Lovely 7 course meals in their semi private dining area, lovely range of wines that paired excellent with the food

My husband and I, & my Sister & Brother-in-law dined in at Maxwell Winery on the 15th of October 2021. We were immediately acknowledged & led to our table. We had booked the 10 course Degustation Lunch. The service here was Excellent. We were waited on by the delightful Lily, Alex & the charming Fraser. They certainly knew all about the different courses & each one was expertly described. My husband used to be a chef himself & we have travelled extensively throughout the world. He was extremely impressed with every course, as were we all. We can see you have a brilliant chef & every course was a taste sensation. We had drinks to start with & then ordered a beautiful bottle of Verdello. All you're staff were polite, courteous & extremely attentive in every way possible. This certainly added to our dining experience. Maxwell's Restaurant is a Magnificent place to visit, in the Southern Vales. Everything absolutely 10/10 we will be returning in the near future. Venue was really nice and modern. Did a mead tasting which was a nice mix up to a wine tasting in the mclaren vale area. Never tried mead before but it was nice, very sweet, but I think that’s the style. Service was friendly and informative, especially good with the history of mead given we hadn’t tried it before.

An exclusive, gastronomic delight! Lunch last Sunday here was exceptional in every way. The service was warm and friendly, professional and informative. The dishes were sensational and their wines outstanding. Would absolutely recommend and we will certainly return. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Easily our best dining experience in SA to date. We had the 10 dish degustation with paired wines. I thought the Lamb Tartare and Celeriac pancake (3rd dish) was a standout, but then was overwhelmed by dish number seven: sous vide beef short rib with shaved cured egg yolk, Jerusalem artichoke puree, beef jus and chive oil. Magnificent.
Staff were knowledgeable, friendly and attentive without being over bearing. Give this place a Michelen Star, or maybe even two.

Beautiful food and matching views. Top-notch presentation of food with friendly service. Did the wine and mead tasting too after our meal and took home some meads.

Didn’t get one of the petit-fours with our bill though (where other tables did: we had two while other tables had three) and no complimentary sparkling in celebration of a special occasion.

Despite the above, would recommend this restaurant - the food and presentation is divine matched with friendly service.

Absolutely loved visiting Maxwell wines. Beautiful location and (not unimportant) great wines. Our tasting guide was a gentleman from New Zealand (Shaun I think?) and he was an absolute joy! Very friendly and super passionate about his job. We’re European so he kept using European examples in addition to Australian when he was explaining things. We had never heard of Mead before but it is an absolute must-try! It was not originally in our tasting but that was not a problem. Time flew by so we accidentally went well over our 45 minutes.

Enjoyed a degustation dinning experience with paired wine's.
Food, wine and service were all impeccable.
A truly lovely dinning experience.
Courses were perhaps a little small.
Needed a pizza when we got home lol.
But would return again without hesitation

What an amazing place to spend an afternoon wine tasting and having lunch. Incredible service and knowledge from all sommeliers who provided us with a rich history of the vineyard.

Friends suggested Maxwell winery as also having a great restaurant and they were right, I will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended.

Did some good wiine with cheese board at $45 and we were very disappointed with the cheeseboard which was over rated and poor value.
