Maxwell Wines reviews
73Absolutely fantastic lunch at Maxwell Wines on NYE. The food was incredible and all the staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Beautiful spot and getting lost in the maze was fun too. Will definitely return.
The food is amazing and the staff were even better. A spectacular experience that I can't recommend enough.
Have been back many times and never fails to disappoint. Our favourite restaurant in South Australia. Food, location, view, service, presentation all world class. Have looked to try many of the top 20 restaurants (Delicious 100 in South Australia) and have found that Maxwell Restaurant, together with the Botanic Restaurant, are by far the best in SA. Would give 6 stars if I could so do yourself a favour and give it a try.
A breathtaking experience, with top quality staff, food and interiors. Wines were also very nice, as they were pouring 10+ year old by the glass.
Well done to the chef, restaurant manager and Maxwell family
Fantastic mead and petit four pairing. The petit fours are perfectly crafted and designed to compliment each mead they have. The meads are all so different but the spiced and liqueur meads were my favourites.
The maze is an added fun extra.
Can't wait to try their lunch!
We have just spent an amazing afternoon at Maxwell's. Everything was outstanding, beautifully prepared and presented. Our thanks to the team for an unforgettable experience.
Very delicious food, good view, very attentive and friendly staff. Absolutely loved it.one of the best fine dining ive had in adelaide.the chef is doing a great job.
Absolutely delicious. We had a leisurely degustation lunch here and it was divine - probably one of the best degustations we've had in a while. Produce was all incredibly fresh and presentation was immaculate. Highly recommend!
Book early! This is an incredible dining experience. From the greeting in the bright and well appointed rooms with amazing views of the vineyard, to leaving, the staff are gracious. Friendly, knowledgeable, passionate about Maxwell’s food and wine without being at all intrusive.
The degustation menu was superb! Each dish looked beautiful and the flavours both surprising and incredible! The crab dish is to die for!
The wine pairing is a must - great wines! Again knowledgeable staff to explain without feeling like there’s a literary competition.
Best fine dining experience! Absolutely stunting and brilliant food. Very friendly and experienced service from staff. Beautiful dining room over the vineyard. Definitely recommended for special occasion.
The most delectable, delightful array of divine dishes and service. Wow, my palate is in heaven. Thank you for the experience.
Wow, wow, and wow. We loved the vineyard, the wines, of course, and very knowledgeable Angus! We learned so much. Thank you so much for the experience. Definitely will come back ️ (the maze was fun too, almost got lost lol)
Absolutely amazing. We had such a wonderful lunch. The place was beautiful, service was fantastic and the food was just amazing. Why are they not 3 hats? I would give them 4 hats.
Tasting experience here was great. Well attended to. Maze is fun and the decor inside is lovely!
Had the best lunch experience at Maxwell. Very relaxed dietary restrictiveness was looked after.
Hats off to the chief s who put in so much effort into the food and presentation. Would love to return again
Was our first stop for wineries in Mclaren Vale. Was a beautiful setting. We opted for the basic wine tasting which was $15 per person. The lady offering the wine tasting was informative and receptive to questions about the various wines.
It has been a long time since I last visited Maxwells. The restaurant and cellar door have expanded and evolved in a seamless and organic way. Natural light floods the sophisticated restaurant, while exposed stone and wood ground the entire space and saves it from pretentiousness. Decadent food options abound, but a simple afternoon cheese platter including made in house crackers, sourdough, and condiments was the perfect choice, tipped off with a glass of deliciously refreshing Little Demon Sparkling NV. Everything from the space to the ambience, from the food to the welcoming professional staff was fabulous. No matter what you come for, be it a browse, a dining experience, a glass of bubbles and a platter, or a full wine tasting experience, it seems from the happy crowd all around me doing just that, that you will be treated like a friend at Maxwells. And let's not forget the wine.a vast amount is on hand to sample and purchase.and who wouldn't want to when it is served in beautiful stemware that screams, "Drink Me, " louder than Alice in Wonderlands potion bottle. I won't leave my time between visits too long again.
Had the degustation lunch here a few weeks ago. The food was absolutely incredible, flavour bomb after flavour bomb in my mouth. The presentation is so beautiful too. Service was great and all staff were very attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this degustation. Only thing I can fault is the wait time between each meal, the degustation took about 3.5 hours which is a very long time but something to also expect for degustations and comes down to personal preference.
I had the degustation on a Sunday afternoon, the dining room has beautiful windows overlooking the vineyard. I was impressed with all the dishes, my favourites were the chicken, doughnut and the desserts. The desserts were light, fresh and an excellent end to a delectable lunch. It was very refined and presentation was impeccable. Thank you for a beautiful meal!
We’ve always liked the Maxwell wines and had fabulous meals in their restaurant in the past. We were visiting the area and thought we’d pop in to the cellar door and pick up a couple of bottles. We knew it closes at 5: 00 - got there at 4: 38 on Friday evening and asked if we could do a quick tasting of a few of there reds. Nobody else there, but were told that they don’t do tastings after 4: 30. OK we said, can we just buy a couple of glasses of wine?
We were told no because they were closing soon (it was still before 4: 45).
We were walking out and a couple of men came in and we heard them greeted with an enthusiastic “ Hi, nice to see you again! What can I do for you - maybe a tasting? Or how about a couple of glasses of wine? ” Hmmmm
