Federal Hotel Restaurant

Top spot to stay good food and really awesome staff Toni and Manu made me feel extremely welcome when checking in and are extremely helpful I will be back when I'm in town again

It was the first time for me to visit Mt Gambier and I stayed in this hotel. The staff were very helpful and kind. The young boy Connor was very good at his job as a receptionist and bistro waiter. I loved the sweet wine recommended by the bar staff, and they helped me to find a taxi to airport.

Very positive and lovely country vibes.

Absolutely loved this place, meals were perfect, never seen a place with so many schnitzel toppings, they have about 18, reasonably priced aswell. If ever back here again, definitely coming back for a meal. Contact free ordering here aswell, button on table, tap phone, order and pay.

We came in for lunch, the lady behind the bar, who also brought out the meals was fantastic, there was a slight error with a meal, no problem, smiles all round, great atmosphere, will definitely return as the food was brilliant.

Has gone downhill since we last went there. Food was okay, and service was good. Good for kids with playground. Just needs a bit of upkeep.

The staff where really friendly and kind and the indoor playground kept the kids (10 and 2) entertained until we were ready to go

Overall our stay was okay. The rug was damp. I we could hear any noise from outside of the room even next door rooms. One more thing, I lost my favourite socks in the room. I left it under the table near minibar

The food was okay and fairly priced. Biggest problem I see with this place is that they have a no takeaway policy for your leftovers. I've never heard of this before.

So if you buy a meal for yourself and can't finish it, too bad.

I was in Mount Gambier for work and happy to stumble across a pub with vegan options. I had a chat to the very helpful waitress who told me that they are very accommodating to all food preferences. This was also demonstrated when my colleague requested variations to her meal due to allergies which were made with no fuss. Definitely the place to go if you have dietary requirements. The food was delicious and the dining room was clean and we'll presented. I'll be back.

Really nice lunch meal. Server/barman was really nice and polite, no complaints at all. Meals were delicious and decently sized. The selection of schnitzels toppings was very hard to choose from but pictured are the onion master and nacho, nacho man

Clean rooms, nice bar, friendly staff and great value for the money. We paid only $90 for a room with a queen + single bed.

Perfect for a budget short stay provided you don't mind using shared bathroom and toilet facilities. The attached bistro is also good value for dinner.

Amazing! Must try dine in when in MtGambier.
Try the snitzel with nacho chips combo, highly recommended.
Friendly staff too.

Our favourite place to go for a nice pub meal. Enjoy the old lunch special buy one get one free with a drink.

Haven't been here in years now, there food went downhill, when a chief cant cook chips you know something is wrong.

Good:

– Good location. Walk to town in less than 10 minutes.
– Close to restaurants
– Restaurant and bar on site.
– Clean.

Not so good:

– Family room is small (but we knew this so can’t complain!)
– Some road noise but rooms quite well insulated so didn’t affect sleep.
– Parking shared with the pub so we often had to park quite far from the room.

Overall, good value in good location. We would recommend.

Had dinner here after seeing their menu online.was not disappointed! The Valdos bread was fabulous. Staff were pleasant and helpful, dining area clean and spacious. Enjoyed every bite

Family room: It's located between Danmurphy and commercial road. It feels like your in container -there are no windows or views

Don't go on picture on Booking.com they are no where near to reality.

Ironing board was broken, no hair dryer and leaking toilet. Very noisey and TV unusable because it's so slow navigating one chamber to other. This property require urgent renovation.

I won't let the poor loud behaviour of the other guests deter me from staying here in the future.

Booked for 3 nights stayed for 2 because of noise, the shower didn’t work properly either freezing cold or boiling. Staff were very polite but I have tried to get the refund for the night I didn’t stay as I was promised but it has not come through
