Botanic Gardens Restaurant reviews
79There is a reason it's too of Gourmet Travellers best restaurants Adelaide. The creativity, presentation, flavours and service are next level.
We enjoyed a wonderful lunch here on the weekend that totally blew us away! Not only was the food stunningly presented, as fresh as can be (foraged from the surrounding Gardens) and an explosion of flavours in every mouthful, but the service and ability to accommodate specific (and quite restrictive) dietary requirements on the spot was a site to behold! The chefs came out to work meticulously through individual ingredients to ensure we all enjoyed our meals. Each meal was delivered by the chefs themselves and explained in bamboozling detail. Nothing was too much trouble and the atmosphere was just gorgeous sitting nestled within the Gardens. Being able to watch the chefs prepare the meals in the open setting was truly impressive to see them at work.
We'll be back without a doubt.
A must for any foodie to experience!
I was still angry about this experience the following day. The food was ok, but not worth the price. Service really variable, and the waiter changed throughout the night. Did matched wines, which were outrageously tiny pours. The styling of the restaurant is very good however
The most beautiful meal experience I have ever partaken in.
Took my partner there for his birthday on Sunday 28th November 21.
The ‘short path’ we both chose and each meal came out was so vibrant and an experience for our pallets, we sat at the ‘chefs table’ so we had the added enjoyment of chef interaction. Because I was GF / coeliac, they took extra care and even made on site a few components I could eat.:)
The waitress we had was phenomenal, checking in after each dish, extremely attentive.
For the final dish because my partner had mentioned it was his birthday they prepared a special dish with stunning calligraphy saying ‘ happy birthday’ on his plate in chocolate. Really made our afternoon.
If there were Michelin star restaurants in australia, this would be one.
One thing that critics won’t mention outside of the atmosphere of being wholly surrounded by the botanic gardens of Adelaide is, their toilets MY LORD.
You walk in and the bright day turns to pitch night with ambient bush sounds of an evening on country, the toilets had marble counter tops adorned with fragrant candles that transported to you the outback. Hand towels were cotton and placed within tree bark. And each entrance area had statement flora to tie it all in.
Will be coming back here as soon as I can afford it!
Special anniversary night for us, had lovely degustation. Drinks excellent, service attentive. Thanks guys
Impressive & Enjoyable.
Long story short - It's worth it & we wish we'd been sooner.
Ample parking on Plane Tree Drive right outside the Friend's Gates entrance, followed by a very short walk to the restaurant through those gates.
Staff were friendly but respectful, attentive yet professional.
The environment was comfortable, the atmosphere was great.
Food served was primarily made with locally sourced ingredients. Incredibly complex, interesting and undeniably delicious.
Highly recommend.
Decent food but don't take a birthday cake, it get super awkward when they don't know what to do with it. "we don't do birthday cake" will be the response.
What a disappointing experience to have the restaurant call to cancel our booking as they would not permit a five week old, breastfed infant to accompany us. While I don’t agree with the policy, the most egregious part was that they only called to cancel two hours before our lunch. This was despite my intentions to bring a newborn included on my booking made a week earlier. Very frustrating given the efforts gone into arranging babysitting for my other child.
Lovely little spot to sit and relax with a bite to eat and something to drink while watching the birds and the world go by.
Staff there were very friendly and polite.
Creative degustation menu in the stunning botanic garden setting. Expensive but worth it for a celebration. Very attentive staff. Good wine list.
Food was great, good selection for everyone (adults and children) service was quick and friendly. Setting was beautiful as always
Sensational food and experience. Don't look at the bill at the end.just pay and work it out later.
At the moment only the cafe is open, but it was lovely to sit under the trees beside the lake drinking delicious coffee and enjoying a light lunch from the cafe. Families, couples and solitary diners occupied the other tables and the atmosphere was wonderfully relaxed.
Spent 4 hours if not more here as we had their big degustation menu. What an experience! Very lovely and interesting food, superb wine and most importantly outstanding service by their sommelier and waiters. We had a memorable lunch.
This restaurant was nothing short of a dining experience for the tastebuds. We had a set menu with 7 different, but all well presented, delicious and perfectly cook, dishes and it was fantastic! Set within the Botanic Gardens the view is very picturesque and the staff are all professional and detailed when explaining each dish they bring out. The chef came out to have a chat afterwards which was great as well. Comes with a price tag but it's all quality and very enjoyable.
Amazing and imaginative Australian food using lots of local ingredients, including herbs from the Botanic Gardens, producing wonderful taste sensations. The service was good and unhurried. My friend and I opted for the lunch menu, now I want to return to have the degustation menu, with the paired wines.
Beautiful place to be, even when it's summer, canopies of gorgeous green trees & plants makes a wonderful shaded walk, a serene atmosphere of water features, sculptures, rainforest, wildlife, flowers & family friendly eating areas. A perfect day to spend relaxing with family & friends.
Faultless food and service. Every meal of my wife and my 4 course lunch was spot on. Great flavour combinations and presentation along with friendly and attentive staff. Amazing location. My wife and I have wonderful memories of our wedding reception at this venue 23 years ago. Thank you for providing us with another memory at the Botanic Gardens restaurant
Overall a very good dining experience here, but we felt that for the price, the food should've have been more than just "good", but rather more "amazing".
Salted scallop, shaved abalone: quite tasty and fresh. Good combo of flavours.
Cold smoked Hiramasa kingfish, sheep's yoghurt: fairly light flavours, but maybe a bit bland.
Roast pork loin, lamb bacon xo: this was quite a delicious dish. Wish there was a bit more crackling though!
Grilled zucchini flowers, brown rice miso, endive: this was an excellent dish! We loved the zucchini and the grilled smokey flavours.
Mayura Station Wagyu flank, liquorice brisket: good dish, but again not super amazing.
Pan fried Robarra, pipis, sweet and sour carrot: very nicely done fish. The succulents were a great addition!
Bone marrow roasted potatoes: amazing potatoes.
Fig leaf ice cream, caramelised fig, frangipane, meringue, fig leaf oil: super tasty and creative dessert dish! The fig leaf ice cream was so tasty!
.
Whole lemon parfait, toasted coconut, lemon balm cream, lemon verbena: a little bit underwhelming/bland. Looked better than it tasted
Consistent in delivering excellent service and great quality of food. EVERY TIME. Compliments to the Chef and floor staff at BGR. Shout out to Jai from BGR for always taking excellent care of our table. He's definitely an asset to the team.
