Barossa Chateau reviews
67Went for a high tea.staff was informative, we asked for all our service, table service was pretty poor. Not a very enjoyable high tea.
So with $88, these are what we get for 3 people.
A tour of the antiques collection, mostly furniture and ceramic collectibles.
A choice of tea or coffee, a cheese platter and a complementary gift (I got a coffee mug).
Now what they barely show you and I highly recommend you should check out yourselves is a walk in the rose garden. Breath taking
Me and wife did high tea and wine and meat platter tasting at the Barossa Chateau and it was a great place to start the day. As part of the package you get a tour of the Chateau and the priceless personal collection of the owner.
High tea had a option of selecting tea or wine and scones were fresh.
The staff gets you to try the wine at the Celler door to decode which one would you like to have with your cheese and meat platter.
Overall great experience but the only thing that keeps me giving a full 5 star experience is the chairs. The back of the chairs was digging in my back and we're uncomfortable.
Otherwise great place, great friendly staff and highly recommended.
The staff were friendly and helpful with a smile. A gem of a winery, as a designated driver the High Tea was fantastic and a tour of the owner's private porcelain collection is exquisite and an additional bonus.
Words can't describe the beautiful rose gardens, loved it. I even stayed there for my mothers birthday, where the local magpie visited our back door. An amaxing place full of antiques. Worth visiting again.
Place was a bit of a mixed bag, really. Really good staff, very polite and friendly without being intrusive. But not nearly enough of them, as they were stretched too thin between too many tables, manning the reception counter and the kitchens all at once. I suspect the place is just badly managed. Random corner cutting detracts from the overall experience. For example, despite it being winter, the beautiful log burner was not being utilised, leaving the halls quite cold, and forcing all the guests to keep their winter coats on. Heaven knows how the poor staff were coping. The pictures on Groupon of the table settings are out in the back formal gardens, but they are actually only indoors, in two halls, one with less than impressive views and one with no windows altogether. Perhaps this was because it was winter, but if it isn't done in summer either, I'd say that was plain false advertising. The halls themselves could've been better, but they seem to be trying too damn hard to sell too much rubbish, which tends to give the place a bit of a tacky feel. This is contrasted by the staff who make every effort to provide five star level service. There is an antique tour, which takes place in the most impressive hall, with beautiful views, which is really good. This hall is honestly where the tables should have been set up, as it would have made for a spectacular setting with views over the formal gardens.
Food was nice, coffee decent. Four stars, primarily based on the staff service. Overall, a pleasant experience. Probably wouldn't be rushing back anytime soon though.
