1918 Bistro & Grill reviews
86 Very poor service, we asked for tea, coffee and dessert,
Coffees tea arrived without plates, spoon, nor sugar. When we asked for sugar the answer was sorry we don't have any sugar all the sugar bowles are used inside.
Asked for water, we never got it
While the dessert was nice, but we will not be back again, service is very very poor
Very accommodating hosts. We went with a dog and they arranged separate seating for us. The food was above average. All the shops were closed when we arrived, we couldn't find a treat for our dog and the host graced our dog with the bone from a tomahawk - made our night. My fav was brocolini from side dish.
I attended this premise due to receiving a voucher. The meal started off with me wearing half my beer on my trousers & menu. No apology or replacement offered. I thought I'll let that go but when the waitress poured my next beer without tipping the glass I started looking for the candid camera. My steak was good quality & cooked to my liking but the meal was miniscule. Upon leaving the waiter/owner, at the top of his voice anounced in front of other patrons, "Cheaper at half the price! " just to make me feel like a cheapskate, after all he has already been paid for the voucher. Needless to say I will never visit that flaky place again.
Fish platters very expensive and spoiled by being overcooked. Had to ask for finger bowls. Main course very slow to be delivered. Brownie dessert was either stale or overcooked. The restaurant was not heated and was far too cold. This was our second visit but will be our last.
Fine dining with $500 bottles of wine prominently advertised on the chalkboard. The sort of place where you have to pay $8 for a side order of chips when already are paying $60 for a main. There is no air conditioning.
The food was nice, if a bit expensive. It lost some stars for giving me food poisoning with a bad bit of fish.
Don't bother. Mutton dressed up as lamb.
Pizza was a Coles base and undercooked.
Platter was ho hum as was service.
We are from Christchurch and have always had pretty bland meals here in Aussie. Until now - as both our meals were tasty as and cooked to perfection. If I lived here would definitely make dining here a weekly event.
Food was average and well over priced for the quality. The lamb was chewy and full of fat and the duck was nice but the side salad was so full of sour cream you couldn't taste anything else. Service was also OK but not amazing. Each bottle of still water that we had at the table was $9 each. We didn't find this out until the bill came.
Food was great.a little on the pricey side, portion size small. For a restaurant, would be nice to have table cloths on the outside tables. Service of wine etticate was great aside from some sloppy pouring and not cleaning up. The toilet doors need to have auto closers on them. Wasn't nice to walk up to an open toilet. The outside mozzies coils didn't taste nice with dinner.try investing in some thermacell's for your patrons. Nice to experience but missing the wow factor for a fine dining restaurant
What a lovely setting, went there for lunch yesterday, was really delish food, waitering ladies knew the menu and the days specials, my only minus was that the fish special I had was a bit small portion wise, but then again I only had mains as we were going fora big dinner later.
Will definitely have a meal there again!
Amazing food, wine selection and service. All at a reasonable price point. A must visit if u are in Tanunda
Have to say the food was good and the wine very tasty. It was the end service of the waiter (elderly guy - receding hairline) that has made me write this. He was fantastic until obviously realizing we were not providing a tip. Cold, dismissive and reduced our experience to one that I would not recommend
Had dinner here as one of a party of four. The building was built in 1918. Beautiful polished timber surfaces and an open fireplace create a warm and homely ambience. The food was superb and the service friendly and efficient. Recommended.
Beautiful old house, celebrating 100 years in 2018, not cheap but a great meal, excellent service and lovely ambience. The steak was cooked perfectly!
Great service, staff and food. Love the building. Only negative is that I was cold, we were sitting at a central table.
Nice restaurant in lovely old house. We really enjoyed the menu and the great bread served. Good wine list. Restaurant was recommended to us by our taxi driver Brian from Barossa taxis who suggested dinner there after our wine tour. Highly recommend.
Service was great. Good hearty food. Lamb was delicious. Just slightly off the mark with details.pork belly not crispy and the beef really under cooked.
Terrible grilled salmon (under seasoned, overcooked). Overcooked sirloin steak. Service was not impressed.
Awesome meal, amazing atmosphere and outstanding hospitality. Food is beautifully presented, absolutely delicious and sized right. This place never disappoints.
