Not fine dining. Good comfort food with big portion sizes but not particularly well executed nor innovative (the green curry was gluggy, muscles were over cooked, beef salad was just a salad, Portuguese tart was very basic as a dessert). The wine pairing was not well paired but they were nice wines and again huge pours. The service was friendly but a little disorganised (had to wait 30min before anyone took our first order but then improved). Atmosphere was quite noisy but nice with the fire places. I enjoyed our meal but i would try everywhere else in Barossa before I went back.

We were a group of 13. The service was amazing and the feedback from the group was that the food and wine were outstanding. The staff were knowledgeable and very helpful and went out of their way to provide extra help to one of the group who has a food intolerance. Cannot recommend this venue highly enough.

Spent an afternoon here. Incredible food and drinks as well as service. Make sure you sit in front of the fire place for a cosy duration. Thank you 1918.

Lovely and friendly staff. When we arrived greeted us Happy Anniversary! The ambience is really good and quiet when we had lunch there to celebrate our anniversary. My husband's food is perfect according to him. He truly enjoyed it. He ordered yesterday's soup for entree and eye fillet steak for main. I ordered mushroom pastry for entree which is so good and filling and for the main I ordered the crispy pork belly with pureed pumpkin and sauteed brocollini as side dish. Though the pork belly is crispy which is good, but the let down is that it's too salty! I mixed the pureed pumpkin at the top of the skin so not to taste the salt too much but it's still salty. And the side dish, the broccolini's stalk is too hard to eat. But still I gave it 4 stars coz there are still positives about our dining experience.

Fine dining?
Degustation?
Not quite sure what was happening with the tasting menu; although I love Thai beef salad.was definitely an experience.

Service was great;

Wine list & menu needs to lift

We had a stunning meal here last night. We were super impressed with every meal, the service and the ambience. Brodie was a very fun, informative and friendly waiter, he made our night all the better. We would definitely recommend this place… we loved it!

Very disappointing visit. When we went they were out of bread, out of lamb and out of crab. Changed the crab to prawn in the past dish and only had 3 prawns in the dish. Mushroom “tart” was servers with not tart shell to be seen (pastry crisp) for the money better places to go

Everything was a near perfect except for one glaring thing; the wait times… the time in between meals soured an otherwise perfect lunch. It was about 30 mins from when we ordered to our starters, then another 35 mins to our mains… due to this we skipped desserts.

That said, the meals, decor, atmosphere and service were all excellent. The pick of the bunch for me were the mussels, mixed meat platter and lamb shoulder. We booked our table online and was easy and simple.

Divine bistro dining in the heart of the valley. 1918 was a consistent recommendation from locals in the know and I’m very glad I checked it out.

Known for its grilled dishes, it didn’t disappoint. My steak was cooked to perfection. The sides were delicious too. The mushroom starter was interesting, a deconstructed mushroom pie.

A highlight was service - in a word “fabulous” - Thanks to Adam and Amber who made my experience dining alone an absolute delight. They were even concocting a safe word to rescue me had a dodgy blind date turned up, which wasn’t the case that evening. Good to know they were all in and would have your back should you need them ever ;)

The atmosphere was so warm and inviting from the onset. Set in a delightful renovated historic building, the fireplaces were a lovely soothing touch.

The details like hearts in rose petals on the tables tells you why it’s such a local date night fav.

The wine list focuses on showcasing some of the more boutique local producers and their favourites like the Rockford Basket Press and family producers Rusden. I tried the “blind” red which they offer to challenge the locals on their tasting ability.

They squeezed me in which was fabulous, but were busy so book ahead to avoid disappointment.

I went in by myself feeling a little complacent and timid. I was greeted by a gentleman who was wonderful and made me feel so comfortable and at ease with my decision to dine alone he was welcoming yet professional the atmosphere was amazing and cosy with the fire going. Not to mention the food was sooo delicious and full of flavour (i had the kangaroo) 10/10 would highly recommend

Can’t fault their steak and service,
My favourite cafeteria in Barossa Valley, my steak always well cooked, no matter well done or medium to well done.

Tiny menu plus service made the dining experience exceptional.

Cannot fault the kitchen, food very good, medium rare steak cooked perfectly and the paella was also very good. HOWEVER, front of house staff very poor. Ordered baby potatoes with my steak, seems they are still to be delivered!
Complaint about not having the vegetable fell on deaf ears - no apology and thereafter ignored.
Not a complete meal therefore a negative dining experience. Dismissing people should not work in hospitality.

Went there with a group of 4, booked online. Amazing meals and desserts. Great wine selection. Cosy atmosphere and attentive staff. Meat was cooked to perfection, paella was fluffy and vegetables were awesome. Definitely recommended this place.

We had a great night and went midweek so had no trouble booking a table for four. Staff were most pleasant and made us feel very welcome. The food was great with Spencer Gulf Prawns, Kangaroo, Fish, Crisp Potatoes and Thai Green Curry being served. Wine list was comprehensive and well priced. I would definitely visit again. Easy Parking.

Over priced and poor quality food. Staff was great but the kitchen needs help in quality control. It was a great restaurant but now it is lacking in quality I hope you pick up your game again.

The service was fantastic but the food was so so average, below average. I had heard good things but the chef let the whole restaurant down. Blue steak when it was meant to be medium and everything else was tasteless except the crunchy potatoes. They were excellent!

Highly recommended. Great service, food fab, generous servings n more than adequate wine list.
Wonderful ambiance with snug open fires on cold winter's night.
