The Pen Shoppe reviews
70After being put in charge for buying a farewell gift for someone at work I made the effort to head into the city to buy a fountain pen - my idea of an expensive pen is $2.50:) and the older lady behind the counter was to be honest was fair but not very friendly in wanting to help me make a choice in choosing a brand or giving me suggestions. Fortunately I did my research and knew what I wanted but needed to make sure I was making the right decision (after all I was spending other peoples money in the high $200's!). Beautiful shop - so my recommendation is to do as much research as you can PRIOR to entering if you want to buy and then take it from there or maybe you may luck out and get someone else to serve you as the reviews look a bit hit and miss:)
What a wonderful store. Koji was extemely helpful and I am thrilled with my purchases. Can't wait to attend their class
The staff are very patient and helpful. They have a great range of pens to suit the needs of most everyone who shops their, whether it be a uni student looking for a simple and practical but quality nib, or a professional looking to add a touch of status to their arsenal. The Pen Shoppe has what you are looking for.
As always, it was a delight to shop at the Pen Shoppe. The staff are attentive and helpful and the range is superb. You will find better prices online, but not better experiences.
Visited today and the gentleman that served me was excellent. Had amazing knowledge of the different brands and nuances of each type, and was happy to let me try those I was interested in. I purchased a Mont Blanc and case, and will very likely return.
Could spend a lot of time and money in this shop! Great gift ideas or something nice for yourself. Massive selection of pens and other nice stationery items. Staff are friendly and know what they're talking about. I would shop here again.
My family visited the store on Saturday, and were the only people in the store. We were ignored until my husband pointed out the fact that I would like to look at a pen which I had been intending to buy. At the same time as looking I asked if the store held a specific colour refill as I had been planning on also buying a refill for another pen at home. This request was met with incredulity and the pen I had been looking at was taken out of my hands. Exceptionally poor service. We left and went to Montblanc where we were immediately greeted and both items I wanted we're purchased.
Excellent customer service! The staffs are knowledgeable and patient, recommended pens which are really suitable for me, nice experience
Recently I had a vintage Parker pen restored by The Pen Shoppe. The finished product is excellent. The staff member, Kenji.was quietly courteous and respectful, such that I have taken two further pens for restoration to The Pen Shoppe
Went in bought a bottle of very expensive ink - Japanese, because I liked the colour. Got home (600ks away) got on the web, looked at the milligram website and found the same product $20 cheaper and with a warning that it was probably not suitable for German fountain pens - it is a dry ink.
I will never shop here again.
Bought my first LAMY there 30 years ago when it was under the BCC building - can't even remember what that arcade was called.
Will shop on web from now on.
I can't say I had any of the negative experiences others have mentioned. Despite only visiting to purchase an entry-level pen, the staff helped me for more than 10 minutes, allowing me to try several pens. Overall, the staff were very polite and helpful.
Received great service for the time I was in store, the staff allowed me to try a variety of pens and also told me a little about the history of each brand and about how some of the pens were made. Prices aren't very competitive compared to online retailers, but the service provided is excellent, especially when you're new to fancy pens.
I bought a Pelikan M800 and they have so many pens and nice things! In particular the service I got from Naomi and Barbara (the owner) was amazing, including a complimentary lesson to improve my handwriting! Thank you so much.
Today I bought a silver Parker pen set for a wedding gift from a lovely blonde lady who kindly offered me free gift wrapping which was really beautiful. I have shopped here three times now and always received five star service. To the nasty reviewers, perhaps shop at quieter times with plenty of time and be kind. It really is worth it to dress nicely and practice your etiquette as you step back into the days of yesteryear at the Brisbane Arcade.
Excellent service when my Cross pencil and fountain pen needed attention. I hadn't bought them here but this store helped me under Cross lifetime international warranty.
Bought myself a Waterman and then a Caran d'Ache at the Brisbane arcade all within a matter of 2.5 months apart lead up to Christmas last year and pen accessories from their Sydney store 2 weeks ago. Service level in Brisbane store on both occasion were good. The staff were helpful assisting my purchases, though not necessary giving the warm fuzzy feel like in a typical retail shop for clothes or accessories. Will i return to purchase, yes. They do have a wide range of pens that appeal.
I really enjoy visiting the Pen Shoppe, always have a great experience. The staff are great, very knowledgeable. I really like the atmosphere and the surroundings, its like going back in time. I had an amazing Christmas 2017 experience thanks to Naomi, one of the sales staff at the Pen Shoppe, she was fantastic. I am very impressed with the pens I have couldn't be happier.
Thanks again

If you read the negative reviews here they encapsulate the heart of this store.disgusting service, disgusting staff, disgusting experience.
I've been to this shop on a number of occasions. Staff come across as snooty. The range of products is pretty good, however pricing isnt competitive.
I had a much nicer experience at another shop down the road.
I ordered a wallet in their online shop On Sunday express post. It is Wednesday 5pm now, and they sent a message that the product I ordered is out of stock. It's been more than 3 days. They promise shipping in 24 hours on orders ordered with Express post. Unacceptable.
