A great gallery. Plenty of wonderful paintings. They could just turn the A/C down a little. Very cold. But worth a stop. Free to enter.

Saw the Archibald Exhibition. Great free attraction, but do donate.on the way in. Lovely old building and air conditioned for a nice break from the heat.

Currently has a great display of Archibald prize winners - well worth popping in for an hour or so

Free entry, awesome air conditioning to escape the heat.

But as a gallery, hell yeah. I've done galleries in Brisbane and Sydney and this one rates up there. A solid range of different styles and it seemed everyone was an Archibald winner. Did I mention free.

Incredible artworks on ritual by indigenous artists when I visited here in July 2021- I also happened to be doing a ritual unit in my visual arts class in school at this time so it was nice to see some examples in a cultural setting:) this place really is a hidden gem!

A great gallery showcasing local artists in a heritage building. With a convenient coffee shop on the deck outside.

When I went, they had on an exhibit celebrating 100 years of the Archibald prize. They had entries from different years, and throughout there was information about the prize and its history throughout the 100 years. It was very interesting seeing different examples of entries and learning more about the prize

I also had my bags with me and the staff were very nice and let me keep them in a safe place while I looked through the gallery

Don't miss the Archies 100 - an exhibition from the 100 years of the Archibalds. It's here until June 2022 - yes, in Cairns. Go to the Cairns Art Gallery site for opening times and times for the free guided tours of the exhibition - highly recommended.

Really great place to spend an hour or so.
I visited about 18 months ago and almost all the exhibitions have been changed and freshened up.
If you've been before.give it another go an visit again, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Nice place but not a lot of varied art, whole collection feels like the same subject matter/artist- nice to walk around but doesn’t take very long

A picturesque Victorian gallery with a balanced collection of contemporary, indigenous and classical pieces. I really enjoyed the gallery and spent the morning exploring each level before spending some time in their lovely store

I’m not usually an art gallery goer, but had a wonderful few hours here enjoying the exhibitions. The VR display was amazing, and the staff very professional and helpful. Can’t believe it’s free - was absolutely worth the donation.

Not a big art gallery but very well laid out with excellent exhibits. Very pleasant atmosphere and easy to move through and see everything without backtracking.

The staff were lovely and we had a great time. Highly recommend and we'll be back
