This pub has motel- style rooms that are showing their age. It does have a nice pool and the rooms are amongst the cheapest in town.

Its regrettable.that some of the staff are unable to tell the truth.beers and shandie.the bottom line is that they are the same price.some of the staff if they think you area tourist.will tell you that a shandie is cheaper.

Found The Cav on our last day in Darwin.
Best lunch even meal that we had all week.
Definitely will be our first and probably only place we will eat at next time we are in Darwin.

People were raving on about the Cavenagh hotel for Tuesday night taco & Thursday steak night. I was quite surprised how good Tuesday night taco were. Tacos were filling and delicious.well done guys.
However, Thursday night steak was terrible, horrible fat piece of meat that appear shrunk during cooking. More than 50% were thick fat with low grade meat. Was I disappointed? I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Shame. Overall, bar service are exceptional, ambience at the facility were great.

5 stars simply for Steak Night Thursday's, a Darwin institution! Just remember to book - especially in the dry! Live music often, great beer and wine selection.

If you intend to sleep at this hotel forget it. They hold concerts and have people sing all night and you'll never have enough quiet to sleep! The wifi may as well not exist with how useless it is sometimes, and I had cockroaches in my towels. This is a party hotel not for sleeping!

The hotel is a little dated, the rooms inside the building are especially dated and old. In saying that we did enjoy our stay here. The room had a full size fridge which was great for a long stay. Bathroom extremely old but it did the job. Air con was great and kept the room cold. There was no windows though in our room. The communal kitchen was a huge benefit for our long stay. Lots of stove tops and condiments to use. The pool was nice but lots of chlorine but to be expected. Most of all the staff were great and accommodating. And the bar and restaurant was fantastic. Food was top notch every time. Would definitely stay here again because for the price it was definitely worth it!

If you are staying in Darwin, this is the place to be! It’s slightly more expensive than the hostels but HEAPS better in every way. The food was good and reasonably priced, only a short walk to the waterfront, and always filled with locals and visitors alike. If that wasn’t enough, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs making us feel right at home. Thank you!

Great steaks, and did not have to wait too long. Family enjoyed the live music, on a Friday night.

Had a roast pork roll with egg. Wow.it was amazing and the price was extremely well placed.
Didn't stay here, just walk past and the place didn't look all that fancy like those cool resto in Sydney or Melbourne. The menu didn' have a whole lot of things to choose from.

Yet the food is super excellent and the price is very reasonable, can't recommend enough.

I came to the Cavenagh with 5 of my friends on a reservation. Their food was brought to them and it took a further 30-40 minutes for my food to be ready, despite me inquiring twice as to its whereabouts. My friends had since finished their food and were making plans to leave. I wasn't happy with the service I received from the man I dealt with at the till. The food looked tasty, it's a pity the poor service and organisation ensured I didn't taste it.

Was the best aged steak/ t-bone (100 day dry aged) I’ve tasted. Thanks Steve for the recommendation. And the beef Wellington is to die for.

Dining area dirty and filthy not covid19 safe. The pool don't go in massive ear infection after going in there. The cleaning is not good look after yourself and avoid. Please look after your patrons and clean the place it's filthy that's your obligation.

Update 19 Feb 2020. The place has really gone down hill. Went here for lunch and the place looks more like an RSL Club bistro. Food is still ok but the setting is in need of a revamp.

I'm doing the rounds and try to go to a new place each week, trying the Eggs Benny.

Not bad here. I was a bit disappointed that there was no spinach. I was asked when ordering but didn't know it was an option. Salmon was places on the toast with eggs and Holindays sauce on top. I prefer the salmon next to the eggs and toast so I can add the desired amount to each fork.

Still pretty good. Plenty more reviews to go yet.

Not a good hotel if you like sleeping, I think they are more concerned with the patrons drinking and gambling

I was planning to visit Darwin for couple of days but found really bad reviews of the hostels in CBD. I picked the CAV over the rest of hostels and it was the best choice made.
This place is spotless, extremely clean, free toiletries in the bathrooms and most importantly polite and helpful staff.
They even let me stay couple of hours in early morning prior to my check in for my day tour. ️️
I highly recommend this place.
Keep up the high standards!
Definitely worth the stay.

Beers cold, the Tab are is very nice for a beer and watch some sport. Horse racing was on to loud over the TV for my own liking. But was a good time regardless
