The Croc, as the locals call it, has been there in the excessive heat and humidity for a while now, so don't expect everything to be shinning new and clean. The rooms are sizable and well furnished. But the bathroom and the "kitchen" area (although both well stocked) are very small hence difficult to use, also in need of a renovation. They could have easily reduced the size of the room and gave them both some more space. I don't understand why they had to make them so cramped. There's a plugin flashlight by the bathroom door. You may find one or two of the lights in the room are broken too. Maybe due to it's remote location, a thorough fix-up is not easily done. The staff members are efficient and very helpful. But seriously under-staffed during wet season. Decent in-house restaurant that provides three meals a day (usually continental only in the morning, no full buffet but with a la carte available as well). All in all, apart from the particular shape of the build, pretty standard.

A small swimming pool in the courtyard, convenient and good for socialising. But you don't have to be restricted to it. Just some 200m away is the town's public swimming pool which only costs $5 per entry and it's a hidden gem! 25m by 8 lanes with foldable roof shades, 1.2m-2m ramp bottom with a baby pool on the side. You simply have to check it out. The only place to be in town in the unbearable arvo heat.

Lastly, for those uninitiated, do NOT order Vegan Pho at the restaurant! I cannot stress this enough. That thing is GARBAGE! It's the only BOMB on the menu. I do not understand how they can put that jumble of junk in a bowl and call it food, it's barely even cooked! And to the management, if you're reading this, you've any idea how unbelievably bad that dish is? Have you ever tried it yourselves? ! Do you know how many people I've seen, just during my short stay, that ordered it just, took one bit, then spat it out and never touched it again? Either do it right which is unlike to happen, or take that f-thing of the menu for f-sake! It's a f-disgrace! No self-respecting restaurant would keep it!

Consider yourselves warned travellers. You order it at your own peril.

Dated, overpriced, and seriously in need of renovation. Once the novelty has worn off - which happens when you realise there's no lift to the first floor, and you have to ask housekeeping to use their service lift for luggage - you realise Cooinda Lodge is infinitely better. This was the first time in my life that I've chosen to leave a holiday and return home a day early (forfeiting the room rate).

This iconic hotel is starting to show its age. We were part of a group and we all had upstairs rooms - we had to carry our suitcases up the external staircase. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable. The bathroom was OK with good flow of hot water in the shower. The AC was OK. The restaurant provided good meals for dinner and breakfast. The staff were all very friendly and provided great service.

In general this is the best place you will find to stay in this area. Had a good a la carte dinner. Book as soon as you arrive otherwise you must do the buffet. Rooms were dated but fine. Pool was good. Like a lot of places they seem short staffed but the team here provides great service even though they were subjected to a lot of the usual crabby travelers.

Sorry for the 0ne star rating, half a star wasn't available, tired and dated certainly could use a upgrade of the rooms, if you are a light sleeper may want ear plugs or sleep in the car due to noisy people who can't or won't control their fn kids.

Located in Kakadu National Park Northern Territory I would be reluctant to say this venue is a 4 Star venue as how it's promoted. I would say 3 Star at best. The reception, foyer, gallery dining, bar & outside pool area are very good. I ordered a steak off the menu one of the evenings and found that it was cooked to perfection very enjoyable. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The room we stayed in upstairs however was showing it's age terribly, faded and flaking paint and water damage to the bathroom door, walls with repair holes and cavity's that need filling and painting.picture hooks on walls I don't know if they know that they may be missing pictures/paintings. The shower had great water pressure but had to step into the bath with a curtain which may cause mobility issues for some people. If your room is located upstairs you'll have to carry your luggage up 2 flights of stairs.

After staying at some less celubrious in Darwin and other places, this place felt luxurious with lots of space and a nice pool area. The restaurant was very good and the staff were very friendly. Wished we were staying longer

Nice place I would say. Crew are nice. Food are nice to stay. Tho the pond is not much paid attention. The plants are grown too much. The pool is nice, its just a normal size place so you won't get lost. And its a shape of a crocodile. I wish I brought my drone to get a proper look, birds eye view.

Love this hotel a great place to stay.this hotel is all about the shape and it works quite well, although you would need to view it from the air to see it properly. The reception, restaurant and bar are all in the head of the 'crocodile', whilst the rooms make up the outer edges of the body. The legs are stairs to the upper floor. All the indigenous art work was amazing to see. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip in the dry season. But the restaurant is quite spacious and although the service was a little slow, the food we had was very nice.

Had a lovely stay in Dec 2023 for a quick getaway. Very high standard of service in spite of it being the wet season.

Obviously, this hotel is all about the shape and it works quite well, although you would need to view it from the air to see it properly. The reception, restaurant and bar are all in the head of the 'crocodile', whilst the rooms make up the outer edges of the body. The legs are stairs to the upper floor.
We arrived as part of a group tour and our reception was really well organised, distributing the keys and given instruction where to make reservations for dinner and then on to our room.
Our room was very spacious with an additional seating area with a table and chairs, which could be used for dining at if you wanted to bring food in from elsewhere (there is a supermarket just a short walk from the hotel). Being on the ground floor our room opened out onto the very pleasant gardens in the centre of the hotel, which in turn lead to the swimming pool. The bathroom did have a shower over bath, which is probably a bit dated now, but it was clean and perfectly serviceable.
The restaurant is quite spacious and although the service was a little slow, the food we had was very nice.

Location was perfect. It's a long way from Darwin so understandable to have staff challenges. Hotel is in need of an update but soldiers on nicely.

Found used panties and pad in the bed when turning it down. Advised night management and quickly moved to a different room room. Night Manager was nearly as shocked as we were. Bathroom was almost dangerous Very tired room and out side area. No lift or staff available to help with luggage, that was a problem as we were up above 16 stairs and we are elderly. Apology from General Manager seemed like a genetic one and is very disappointing.

Make sure you have Accor membership for the discount on food. The buffet's were really good for the price (post discount). We stayed at Cooinda and the food was much better at Mercure. Breakfast better at Cooinda. Rooms are nice and big. Is it dated? Yes. But so what it is clean and staff are friendly.

Poor standard for Mercure brand needs major refurbishment. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone

We really enjoyed our time here as a family. We loved the pool the buffet breakfast and dinner. Our room was lovely and perfectly placed near the pool. Top place to stay

Had to cancel our stay due to COVID and we were charged the full rate ($221) regardless as it was less than 21 days notice! Asked to change to a different day and told that would be a new booking at an additional charge. Absolutely disgusting customer service.

Fridge was teeny tiny. Always told to hydrate but you cannot get many bottles of water in to keep cold. Have to buy cold water from the restaurant or reception. No room for anything. The restaurant only serves buffets. No mention on web page of this. Was looking forward to a burger and chips. Only told when checked in that the restaurant doesn't serve. Foodland shelves empty. Nearly all of the other shops are shut. You are forced to each at the restaurant buffet which doesn't have much range. Bathroom tired. No toilet brush or face washer. Really disappointed as we were looking forward to this trip.
