At $400 per night those things are a basic standard.
It could be great - but it is not.
Excellent place for all your needs and wishes, food and service fabulous, the yellow water cruises fantastic.
We had linch at the Lodge, the prices are like Sydney prices, but the meals are twice as big. Would be good place to stay with a Van or Tent.
Cooinda Lodge would be 3 stars at best. Your hands are kind of tied in this part of the world. Considering its remoteness, the choices are pretty lacklustre. What you pay vs what you receive at Cooinda Lodge is amiss.
We had a standard family room for 4 adults at $339 for the Friday night (booked in Feb, and extended another night) and $500 for the Saturday (I asked for the same price to be honoured for both nights, but was told it's not possible due to peak season). The room was dark and definitely not as clean as you'd expect considering the price you pay. The queen size bed was fine, although the two single beds were pretty uncomfortable. One of them was essentially a bed for a child (which we asked to have changed, and it was, although was much the same - thin mattress with a poor metal frame holding it all together).
The food prices are what you'd expect to pay at a premium restaurant in Sydney or Melbourne (around $35-$45/main), although don't offer the same quality and experience. Again, you're pretty limited with other food options so you're forced to pay these prices for food that is so-so.
Overall the whole stay was fine, but don't expect to receive an offering that is in line with the amount of money you fork out.
On a side note, Kakadu is incredible and would highly recommend the Yellow River tour that Cooinda Lodge facilitate. If you're lucky enough to have Dennis as your guide, you're in for a treat.
Great place to stay and explore Kakadu great pool great food only down side was a bit noisy and the amenities were a bit dirty
Fails basic hygiene standards. We stayed here for 2 nights at the Caravan Park. Having travelled the NT for the last month this is by far the worst we have come across. The bathroom facilities were disgusting. There was blocked toilets, run out of toilet paper and had no hand sanitiser in the men’s bathroom by early the next morning. Two shower doors had broken latches and couldn’t be locked. In the middle of pandemic it’s not good enough. If you are going to be at capacity then clean the bathrooms regularly. If you don’t have enough staff, then don’t book out all the sites. It looks as though the bathrooms are cleaned once a day if that. Every time we went to use there was basically dirt and mess everywhere. Appreciate you can’t be on top of one person making a mess, whoever it was the whole time we were there. I could not recommend this caravan park and would strongly advise against unless you don’t care for basic hygiene and cleaned facilities.
All the stuff you need, food, fuel and coffee at a high price. Also pleasant accommodation in good surroundings.
We went today after a hike to these place for some food and coffee. The service was absolutely friendly and the food was really good.
Fantastic location, great rooms and food. The Yellow River cruise was an absolute highlight and a must do.
Cannot recommend this stay enough.
We had a mishap that resulted in a missed flight and unfortunately despite trying, there was no way we would be able to make another flight in the coming days. When I explained the situation, I was told we would be unable to even get a refund for part of our planned 6 night stay. I have stayed at many hotels around the world but this was a first for me. I am sure the lodge is lovely and a good place to stay, but beware when you book if there is any chance of a change in plans
Beautiful lagoon pool and hot tub. Tasty pizzas, designed with local flavours in mind. The Yellow Water cruises are based within walking distance. Cooinda is a small drive from Jabiru - approximately one hour, or can fly via charter plane. Cold beers, tasty food in a comfortable environment. If you’re in Kakadu, this place is a must-see.
The room had ants as well as mosquitoes. Their restaurant has exotic animals on the menu. The Yellow Water cruise is 2 minutes walk from the rooms. No Wi-Fi or mobile signals.
Great place to stay in Kakadu National Park and get on the Yellow Waters Billabong Cruise. Bathrooms have been recently renovated and the rooms while fairly small they are neat and very clean. Good breakfast buffet and great selection of meals for dinner
Was gutted when I realised a few days before our trip half the park was closed and the 2 bush campsites we planned to visit were taken prisoner by crocs and flooded unsealed roads. Cooinda lodge was 3rd on my list so we gave it a shot. In all honesty this place exceeded expectations. It was wet season so we were 1 party of only 3 in the entire campsite. The site is a lot more attractive than others we've been to on this trip. The shower, toilets, laundry and kitchen are pretty clean and are exactly what we needed amidst thunderstorms and sweaty weather.
The yellow water cruise is connected to this place and easy to access and Nourlangie with it's lookout is at an arms stretch away. However, even if the entire park was closed I could easily have spent the whole day at that pool. It was clean and pretty big (might have seemed bigger because we were the only ones using it) and for $20 a night it felt like we had been spoiled.
The nights were scary. I don't think the animal sounds we heard were of this planet and pretty sure Kakadu is harbouring a variety of alien species. And the thunder was louder than that THX intro music. But I don't think Cooinda can do much about that.p. S.good luck to the friendly fella at reception on getting to Japan
We had a great stay. Steve and the rest of the staff were so knowledgeable and always so helpful. Would highly recommend the yellow water cruise, abundant with wildlife and beautiful scenery. Will be back to explore some more in the dry.
I've stayed here a couple of times now and I will come back again. It gives you a great snapshot of the Kakadu wetlands. The wildlife is superb. Take your camera.
The rooms were comfortable and the service great. Restaurant meals beautiful.
Great location great spacious room. Loads of toiletries selection of teas and good coffee.breakie not the best.
No Aussie butter. One of our great products. Meadowlea Margarine your kidding. 9 out of 10.
Good resort well kept nice services, helpful staff. Good resturant, tour desk, very close to yellow water.
Facilities of the lodge were very good, and loved the beautiful pool! Open entertaining area is a great spot. We were in a powered caravan site and were only dissapointed at being squeezed into the tight spots when there is so much room around the grounds.
Cooinda lodge is perfectly situated to see Yellow Water. Recommend the dawn cruise to see Kakadu's magnificent and varied wildlife.
