Cooinda Lodge Kakadu reviews
72Our stay at cooinda lodge was not what I thought it would be. To check in took a awful long time, and the staff seemed overwhelmed, however friendly. For $400 a night the rooms are tiny, no options for two bedroom no cabins if you would like a kitchen and more space. The food was over priced and not that nice. For breakfast the bacon is boiled which is horrible and sausages appear to be cooked in oven. For dinner we waited so long then went to the counter to find out they didnt put our order through, then they came out with wrong meal and no kids meal instead a large chicken breast covered in pepper gravey which i knew my daughter would not eat, and our pork ribs were extremely dry. The morning staff were friendly and cheerful which was nice and the pool was nice. However bathrooms were dirty with a bad odor. We enjoyed every about kakadu its a magicsl place however, I wont stay here again not for how much we spent.
Room, facilities and staff outstanding. Not 5 stars due to cost and quality of food. River cruise and fishing trip definitely highlights and would recommend.
We had a 2 nights stay at Cooinda Lodge and were very happily pleased with the cleanliness of the rooms. The bed was so comfy and shower had great pressure. Oh and the air-con worked great.
The food was delicious for both brekky and dinner and also very reasonably priced for being in the outback. Loved happy hour)
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Loved our stay here and would highly recommend. Thank you Cooinda)
Dingo/camp dogs around its got heaps of potential food was good best to bring snacks and drinks
Great accomodation, value for money, accomodating staff members, refreshing pools, and great restaurants and bar staff!
Granted we visited here at the start of December, the place seemed to be well looked after and all the staff were happy.
Exceeded my expectations. Beautiful breakfast buffet and great dinning menu. Very comfortable
bed.
Was great. Only spoilt by the dining room staff being so overworked. Of our party waited 3/4 of an hour for their breakfast
Recently stayed during New year time and it's not that busy as normal in Dry season. Few things which me and my wife observed during the stay.
1- Room, bed, aircon perfect and few step for parking.
2- Two pools and nice and clean
3- Location is perfect and well organised.
4- Food was good and have a great taste.
Now it's time for improving for next guest: every single tourist's visit to Kakadu from Darwin or interstate, and they do 3 to 4 hours drive from Darwin. When we ask for the check in she said room is not ready yet and check in time its 2: 00 pm and we arrived around 11: 30 which was OK. She did not great us never bother to where are you guys coming from and how was your drive or you may have sit here I'll ask to cleaner to make your room ready on an urgent basis which she could. She just asked do you have Telstra if not, so please keep coming and ask us about your room.it was so pathetic respond I got.
Restaurant staff was nice, but few of them seems like they don't care us. No smile on the face didn't recommend the chef speciality and served very rudely.
Living in 21st century Cooinda is not offering wifi facilities if tourist doesn't have Telstra Sim.
Please train your staff and provide wifi atleast and you may charge them if someone is willing to pay.
Thank you
We camped there on a well cared for unpowered, grassy, level site. Nice amenities and 2 great poolsto choose from.
Glamping tents were excellent with aircon. Ours was quiet on the outskirts of camp that looked onto the bush.
Food at the Barra Bar both nights was amazing - definitely unexpected to have such great calamari, pasta, burgers and veggie dishes.
Pool was super relaxing for the afternoon.
Only negative was that the shared toilet facilities were average and needed to be better maintained.
The place is really awesome to stay and front desk staff are so guest oriented people, specially Olivia she is great, hope to come back again, had a nice stay
Relaxing stay in Kakadu. Our room resort bungalow 2 was clean modern cool and the bed super comfortable. It was positioned next to the restaurant bar and smaller pool was the perfect spot. The food and pizza were terrific and tasty. We were lucky enough to have brought drinks with us although we were able to buy cold drinks at the bar.the lagoon pool was very popular with families and was very busy as it was school holidays when we were there. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The grounds and open air cinema were great for everyone to gather for the rugby grand final. Facilities are all shared with caravan park and units so the pools would be hectic in peak times. There was a petrol station on site and a store that stocked all sorts of things. Tourist info and bookings were done on site
Loved our stay here! The pool is superb! The only thing that would have made it better was wifi and cocktails! (Only Telstra have reception). Food was nice in the restaurant, although would have been nice if the kitchen would allow you to alter meals.ie.the kids meals come with veg/salad - we asked to swap these for chips and were told that we couldnt change it, we would have to purchase a separate serve of chips.
Nice hotel and pool area. Also the beds are super comfy.
No wifi tho, and only Telstra reception works out there
Good site selections in the shade, clean amenities, friendly staff. Had the most delicious burger ever so well done to the kitchen crew.
Cooinga is superb. Special shoutout to Rory Montek Will and Siah who were exceptional with not only service but in welcoming us and spending time to make our experience so much better. Thankyou all so muchFood was awesome,! Rooms immaculate, a well maintained property & great pool. Barra fishing with Greg was so great! We highly recommend Cooinga Lodge and will be back Boh Boh
Before making a booking here, be aware that there is absolutely no leniency for cancellations due to COVID border closures.
All 7 other hotels we booked (also tagged as 'non refundable') happily refunded us once NT announced the had closed their border to VIC residents (which was 2 days before we were due to fly out).
Cooinda was the only accomodation to flat out refuse.
We stayed here in June and had a wonderful time. It was particularly nice to encounter such genuinely friendly staff. The English lady (Amanda?) was really helpful and made us feel very welcome.
Fantastic place. Friendly staff, great clean facilities and nice big pool. Bar, and yummy buffet breakfast as a great price with kids under 12 free. Only downfall for us was the kids were eaten alive by mozzies as we had no where else to camp but at the back by the trees but we were told this prior.
Would definitely stay again.
Thanks:)
We stayed here on a powered site for 2 nights mainly to do the Yellow Water cruise. Positive things were that it was a good site and the Yellow Water cruise was excellent. I know it's school holiday time but the amenities were not ample for the amount of people in the campground. The showers were pigpens and there was no mop to be able to clean the shower first. The day we arrived the amenities had been cleaned and looked ok but day 2 and the cleaning left a lot to be desired. The ladies toilets ran out of toilet paper and old toilet paper wrappings were still lying around in the toilets after the cleaning was done.
They won't let anyone check in before 12 noon and you have to leave at 10am as I was told that the sites had to be clear for 2 hours. Why? Nothing is done on the grass sites after people leave. Can't get much info on walks etc in the area either.
We had a meal at the restaurant and ordered grilled Barramundi and got a nice piece of barra with some greens and nearly raw broccoli which was cold. Couldn't even put a fork on it.
Would not recommend this place, drive onto Jabiru where it is cheaper and a lot cleaner.
