Fitness First Top Ryde Platinum

Causing big noise to the residents nearby. All day. Everyday.
Have sent several emails to the gym manager and building manager, suggesting that it can be changed by turning down the music a little bit and putting a sign there. Never ever got a reply and the most ridiculous thing is I got blocked by the building manager of Top Ryde Living (since I live here).
BTW, you will never contact them by phone through the 1300 hotline. They ask you to type the name of the gym using your ‘Keypad’.

What is great about this gym now is that the number of people who can attend a class has been reduced such that good social distancing is possible. Also the equipment is well spaced out which again allows excellent social distancing. I appreciate that sooner or later we will all contract Covid, I prefer NOT to get it. Obviously at the gym you cannot comfortably wear masks during any sort of workout so all you can do is socially distance. Apart form the above, the staff are friendly and helpful, equipment is good, there are plenty of classes to cater for all so what more do you want.

I am completely disgusted with this gym, and they claim to be a luxury gym but only provides one-star customer service!

At 11: 03 a.m. On February 1,2022, I received a phone call from an unknown number from someone claiming to be from Top Ryde, asking for money to "settle my account. " This is strange because my fiancé and I signed up for the 30-day free trial in November of 2021. We canceled our services in December and never returned. So I asked this random person the normal question, "Whom am I speaking with? " She responded, "Why? " It could have been anyone on the phone, and I should be so willing to give anyone my credit card information? !

"Since you don't want to identify yourself, please put someone else on the phone, " I said, and she replied, "I am a Top Ryde staff member and the only person in. "

After I told her that I had previously spoken with David, the manager at Top Ryde, and he had assured me that I owed nothing and that I would be speaking with him about her rude behavior, and then she yelled "Ely" into the phone. I had had enough of the abuse over the phone at this point and disconnected the call.

What a nightmare! From the border line, harassing phone calls every day this week to the disgusting receptionist. This gym simply isn't worth the headache! We signed up for a free trial! Leave us alone already!

Club needs an upgrade on equipment and should consider adding more machines if you want to call this Platinum. The bathroom and toilets are disgusting, no toilet brushes available so there's always "stains" in the toilets. Broken taps left unfixed and water leaks everywhere.

They are scamming people by saying 30 days free trial. When you want to cancel before that they will tell you that you have to give 4 weeks notice as you are in a contract. Whem you call the customer service help line, they will keep dropping the call and if ever keep the line active they will put you on hold forever.
They have worst system of cancellation and joining ever.

Yeah look, it’s an alright gym. But I am primarily posting this review in response to a previous review as a hint.

Apart from that, it’s got most of the things that I want from a gym. Pool, sauna, studios, free weights. Wish it had a deadlift platform. Some of the equipment is visibly ageing.

I have tried several times calling to cancel my membership, I came to the gym to cancel it but apparently manager wasnt around (it was at 2: 30pm), I have sent several emails to cancel my membership but no response.

Customer service person who goes by the name of FETA - He is polite, professional and a great asset to the team. He handled my query patiently and got it resolved in no time. Thank you Feta.

Pretty terrible staff. I work across the road from Fitness First Top Ryde Platinum and pass the staff every day. I am a pretty meek person in general. The other day, I was on the phone to work whilst trying to make it to the bank on time. One of them got in my face and as I didn't stop, one of them screamed very loudly at me across the centre to say "your fly is undone". The rest of them laughed very pointedly and loudly like a pack of hyenas. I literally had said nothing to them and was minding my own business. I thought that was pretty aggressive and is a pretty terrible way to represent a brand.

Really good ambience and food was delicious we ordered way to much as they are rather large meals next time we won't be rookies! Lol

Very pathetic reception staff.
I had a 5 day trial and the lady at reception didnt allow me to use it. Not recommended at all.
Such a waste of money.
Why they even gave a pass when i cant use it.

I love my aqua classes with the gorgeous Tanya! The staff behind the desk are always friendly and helpful! I'd like more regular cleaning of the changerooms - especially the showers and the emptying of bins in the toilet areas!

Great facility with a 23.5m pool (wish it was 25m) and most gym equipment you would need. Would be great if there was more RPM bikes available. They have two and one is broken.

Paid for a casual visit the other day. Wasn't impressed with what I saw.

Weights area is super dated. Machines, barbells, dumbbells, benches, and the racks are showing signs of age. (Rust, worn leather, etc)

Bathroom ammenities aren't bad. Could be cleaner as there is bits of mould built up in the corners.

They recently changed their cardio equipment which is good. They also seem to have heaps of classes throughout the day.

Honestly I dont mind paying 'platinum' rates if the value is justified. But I personally won't be signing up any time soon until their weights area gets a refresh.

The facility is very dirty and my husband and I we were looking to join but we didn't receive a help or information from the desk staff

Terrible business, incompetent staff and even worse club management! I'll never step foot in this club or any other Fitness first ever again and will make sure that family and friends avoid this business or warn them at least of the poor business practices of this gym.

Having read previous reviews I am glad I cancelled and left.

Horrible gym. The management is highly incompetent and lack of any knowledge on how to run a place of business. Dirty and outdated machinery, unhelpful staff and non-existent cleaning standards make the whole experience very poor. Extremely disappointed.

Nothing platinum about this place. Old, dusty and faulty equipment. For such a large area, they have an abnormally small selection of weights and exorbitant amount of cardio machines. There are other regular 24 hour gyms which are much better than this place.

Gym is big, but filthy and smelly especially on the entrance to the where the carpet is.

Old equipment, torn and rusty. Risk of injuries to the users. Wipes/weight left everywhere. And dusty.

Air conditioning isn’t working at the top level at the stretching area.

Staff members aren’t professional/friendly, they are like a bunch of boy/Girl Scout. They are on the phone while at the desk! No greetings at all.

I just signed and have been pretty disappointed so far, nobody got a minute to show me where is everything, ok. Need to schedule classes but nobody told me that as well, I just found out by myself where and how, which btw needs to be done a week before and as soon as it opens (ok covid explains). But really the point was I scheduled the class 1 week before, came 1 minute not 2,5 or 10, just 1 minute late and they didn't let me in. I understand rules although as no one told me to book no one had tlld me there wasn't 1 minute allowance so not much more to say
