Civic Theatre reviews
80Great Theatre, comfy seats, technical production values were pretty good on most recent performance I saw. Very good experience, looking forward to going back
Great theater, only issue is if you're height challenged like myself I'd recommend sitting upstairs.
Terrific and beautiful restored theatre. The refreshments bar is unfortunately located right outside the main doors, causing an instant jam at interval.
Beautiful old theatre, a gorgeous gem in Newcastle - with great productions and entertainment for everyone! Lovely cafe too. Finding a carpark can be a bit of a problem.
Nice venue, personal experience due to limited space but open enough to not feel crowded. Good views pretty much everywhere.
This is one of the most beautiful Theatres ever built in this country. It's worth going in just for a look if nothing else.
Nice place, easy access, parking a small problem.
Seating comfortable, didn't visit the bar but looked popular, great show, Kris Kristofferson.
Absolutely beautiful venue. The design is amazing, and the acoustics match this. I would highly recommend this theatre for any kind of performance, be it a concert, a stage show or a musical.
Awesome theatre, service is great, very pleasant staff and great coffee and that lemon slice "yumo", cheers Sheryl.
The grand old theatre is very special. The only issue was having to park nearly a kilometre away. This is not the venues fault just the local council issue.
Always a good venue. Staff helpful and good with crowds, take the light rail there as they stop right out front which is perfect.
Quite a pleasant venue for live theatre. Visibility in the stalls a little obscure if large people in front. Very congested in foyer with large crowds. Nice decor.
Newcastle's premiere theatre destination. The venue is absolutely stunning visually and has surprisingly comfortable seats which is needed when you're sitting down for several hours at a time.
From an performer perspective this theatre has some of the best amenities of any theatre I've been in providing a lot of comfort and space to prepare for a show.
Love the Civic! Beautiful old building, well loved and looked after. Intimate venue with great sound.
Absolutely over the top decor make this place an interest in itself. I have seen several shows and always enjoyed then
Beautiful, iconic building!
Enjoyed the performance of "The most wonderful time of the year" Newcastle has some very talented people!
Terrible venue. Staff really need a shake up as unfriendly. Parking is a nightmare. Very small theatre. Honestly there is zero organisational ability of staff. I won’t be back.
The positioning of the seats is an issue. We were sitting in row S in the middle and we were directly behind the people in front which meant we had to keep moving to see which in turn upset the people behind us. We moved at interval off to the side where the seats are tiered.
I have always been impressed with the granduir, great seating with easy veiwing.great for most types of entertainment.easily accessible
Great for young and old
Just saw Xavier Rudd at the Civic tonight. There is literally nowhere else in Newcastle that he (& his sensational band) could perform such a heartfelt performance and the acoustics of this venue far surpass any stadium. If you love music the way we do, experience someone you love here, it's a bucket list thing!
