Civic Theatre reviews
80Great concert Kitty Flanagan really small amout of leg room. People with longer legs book an aisle seat. Great night though all round
Finally got to see Kitty Flanagan after many postponements. Civic theatre kept us in the loop with emails and text messages. Wheelchair access was a breeze. Couldn't thank the ushers enough.
This is just so special. Wonderful ambience and attentive helpful attendants. The show was spectacular.
Been to the Civic on several occasions.
If it's for a play or music it can't be beaten for atmosphere or great viewing.
We love the Civic!
Thought I was going to get swooped by the cackling galahs behind me. 11/10 experience, might consider kinky boots again.
A beautiful art deco building and brilliant concert venue. No bad seats amd acoustics are great.
Great atmosphere with seating up to 1500 people. This place has a real nostalgic feel of the old theaters. Nice and clean
The food took a long time to come so we were unable to finish our dinner before the show. Disappointed
Just an iconic theater.
Not many left like it.
Many many years since I've been there.
But stil the same awsome decore.
Attended Paul Kelly concert last week there.
The acoustics fantastic as i know,
Its a must if something is on you like.
Be it music theater or movies
Now plenty of places around it to feed and dink before. Though they have everything there too.
Im biased, top notch.
This is the most beautiful place. Opened in 1921 and shows how lavish that era was. A must see if you are in the vicinity. Congratulations Newcastle on preserving this.
Beautiful classic old theatre.
Seats are a little tight and compact.
Staff cut off drinks before the show and you gotta be quick or you will miss out.
Love this old theater has so much character, signing in was quick & the staff inside were helpful, only problem is parking, my advice is don't leave it too late.
Beautiful theatre setting. Traditional looking theatre with atmospheric lighting! We saw Carl Barron perform there. It was a fantastic night!
Beautiful theatre with excellent architectural features.the entrances to theatre are well set up and a large variety of entertainment takes advantage of the seating set up.the seats aren't the most comfortable but the layout definitley makes up for it.in the floor section in some seats a taller person can really obstruct the view, the upper level gives you a great vantage point of the entire stage but not so good if the performance is directed at the people in the first few rows.
Love the Civic, always have a great time whether I'm a performer or in the audience. Staff are amazing. Bless, chookas
We attended a screening of The Dry in the Playhouse Theatre. While it is a nice intimate size theatre I don't think it is well suited as a cinema. The main issue was that our seats had an angled view of the screen so we didn't get the full impact of the panoramic shots.
I love coming here for any occasion. Staff are helpful and kind that sets the atmosphere for whatever function is being attended, whether it's a show or being sworn in as an Aussie.
We went to see the Aussie Queen experience. Great show and well put on. The theatre has an odd post art deco theme going that screams Universal pictures set. The crowd was good and the ushers were approachable. All in all a good experience.
Great place with a lot of history and perfect for any performance. Comfy enough seat, drinks are pricey but just preload if you dont want a surcharge.
