Civic Theatre reviews
80Well, I wasn't inside for a performance. I was outside and performing! The event was the One Song Sing for Christmas and we were performing a 4 part arrangement of How to make Gravy' by Paul Kelly. Somewhere between 1000 and 2000 people learning their parts and singing their hearts out. Fabulous. It's now on my calendar to do every year!
Civic Playhouse to see Showstoppers. Great venue, good seats regardless of where you sit, good view of stage.
Such an intimate, historic space! I had pleasure to attend citizenship ceremony there. Staff was super positive with great manners!
The theatre is a beautiful classic venue and the concert was wonderful. Great sound and atmosphere.
It was a wonderfulexperience to visit this iconic theatre. It has historical and modern touch and the theatre is amazing.
Good venue, decent acoustics and great show. Thank you Gregory orchestra from Saturday September 16/9/23
It is like stepping back in to a forgotten era. Beautifull. First time you walk in it is a bit of a shock that such an unassuming building could hold such an elaborate interior. Have been to see 2 shows there now and have loved both.
Stunning theatre, old school feel and very glamorous.
Well organised with friendly staff.suggest getting there a little early to secure your drink/nibbles before your show.
This theatre is soo beautiful! Love seeing ballets here and I recently saw Backbone with my drama class a few months ago it was so cool
Great venue with stunning architecture. The facilities cater to many and beautifully maintained.
Multiple kiosks to get refreshments or it sit and dine.
Brilliant location for any act.
Majestic old world environment and great viewing from all seats.
Enjoyed comedy acts, plays and bands there, always impresses.
Has a great atmosphere and history to it, everything is close by and seats are comfy, had a great time their.
Absolutely love this theatre. Staff great. So happy to have the opportunity to see great theatre and shows
Beautiful old theatre with great acoustics.
The show (jersey boys) was (for me) unexpectedly brilliant too.
Saw Bill Bailey on Monday 31 October. Fantastic show as always. Civic Theatre is a magnificent building which I noticed Bill Bailley commented on in a Facebook post a few days later when he said it was designed by the same people that designed the State Theatre in Sydney. I'm guessing he git that info correct.
Atmosphere & vibe here is good.
We have watched many live productions here and had memorable time.
Good acoustics & lighting— comfortable seats and clean amenities. The theatre boosts a traditional European interior design —mezzanine upper level and balconies.
Central location in Newcastle near Lightrail station. Parking can be limited.
Customer service is okay, but last visit the staff closed the bar so at the end of the show we could mingle with friends, which was disappointing. There is limited food & drink available, however we dined elsewhere.
Excellent performance of Jersey Boys, the cast and crew did a fantastic job. 'Do yourselves a favour' and get in to see them.
Wonderful show from England wales and Scotland should see this show it was great theatre lively
The concert was very good but theatre was very uncomfortable. It was very crowded and the temperature in the theatre was so hot, I'm sure the air-conditioning wasn't working, very scary during covid. The leg room of the seats is only suited for small people. I will think twice about returning any time so.
